Thus, I need more Flow and less Ebb.

More fat going away and less coming in.
FYI Def. of ebb from Merriam Webster Dictionary Online:

1 : the reflux of the tide toward the sea
2 : a point or condition of decline <our spirits were at a low ebb>

From Dictionary.com
ebb - Definitions from Dictionary.com
ebb
–noun
1. the flowing back of the tide as the water returns to the sea (opposed to flood, flow).
2. a flowing backward or away; decline or decay: the ebb of a once great nation.
3. a point of decline: His fortunes were at a low ebb.
–verb (used without object)
4. to flow back or away, as the water of a tide (opposed to flow).
5. to decline or decay; fade away: His life is gradually ebbing.

The ebb tide is when the water recedes back to the sea (or is at low-tide)...ships don't set sail at this time.

The flow tide is when the depth of the water rises near the shore (and is at high-tide)...ships set sail at this time since the water near the shore is deeper.

Also from Dictionary.com
flood - Definitions from Dictionary.com
flood
4. the rise or flowing in of the tide (opposed to ebb).

This is such an interesting place. We seem to be learning new things all the time. I love it!!

Had a good on plan day today. Am hoping for some ebb tomorrow. Goodbye fat!!

Ebb = Reflux (to the sea)? That's an unforgettable image!

Nice "Ebb Tide" midi at "Dolphin Dream's Midi Ocean" (she asks that no one link directly to a midi, but you can scroll down to "Ebb Tide" to hear some interesting sound effects)...lovely tune. Reflux? Urk! Just never associated that word with anything as dreamy as the tide ebbing or going out and leaving creatures in tide pools and wonderful shells for beachwalkers.

WOE: Atkins '72. . .pass the eggs!
Start Date: 6/7/07 @ 193
Hi girls!

Just a quick check-in to say I'm still here!! I have been sticking with the fast-5 still. I love how un-hungry I feel during the day. I still struggle after work to keep my eating in-check. . .I have such a psychological trigger to eat during that time of day. I have such a hard time.

Anyway, I too, have added my egg creams back in. I was doing them in the summer, but ther's been so much talk about them recently, that I thought I'd try to incorporate them again. I've been having one early in the afternoon everyday for the past few days. They're so yummy and filling. Anyway, I started TOM today, and he always brings 1-2 pounds with him on the first day. Amazingly, though, I am actually down a pound this morning. Hopefully I'll still get my day 3 or 4 whoosh that I usually get during TOM, too. THAT would be amazing!

I'll check in again soon. . .

Love you guys!

Hi All! Can I join in? I've been trying to do m/e off and on for the past month or so and have been struggling so maybe this accountability here with you guys will help keep me on track and give me ideas to make it past day 3 w/o going off plan. I could be so much closer to goal if I would stop cheating.

My problem is that I'll make it 2-3 days POP then convince myself that I deserve a "free" meal. Basically sabatoging myself any suggestions on how to make it past day 3 cheat free?

Also any suggestion on quick easy meal ideas?? I'm getting burnt out on burgers w/o the bun. I usually make a tuna salad too which is pretty quick and easy but other than that I don't know what else to make. I like to keep my meats more fatty as I lose quicker that way.

Good morning....I was DOWN 0.8 of a pound. Now to tackle that Benefit Spaghetti dinner tonight...or rather to NOT tackle it.

Hey, Andrea....glad you are still here. I'd hate to see this thread die. It's been kinda quiet lately and I'd be lost without it.
You guys are the best.

StartingOver...Glad to have you with us.

That's my middle name, "starting over" or maybe "bouncer." Someday I'll get it right. I have "maintaining" down pat. I can do that quite easily....however, I am maintaining at the wrong weight. I need to lose 50-60 lbs and THEN maintain. Steaks are good. Pork chops fried in Coconut Oil (or Olive Oil). Stay away from vegetable oils as they are pure trans fats. Here's how I make meatloaf.

Judy’s Meatloaf

2 lbs ground beef
1 lb Italian Sausage
1/2 cup (2 oz.) finely ground pork rinds
2-3 eggs, depending on the size of the egg
Dried parsley
Mrs. Dash “Original” Seasoning
Minced Garlic (to taste)

Mix well and put in a 13x9 cake pan. Shape into a loaf. Bake at 350* until done. Let sit 5 minutes. Slice and serve. Freezes well.
==============================================

I live alone, so when I make this I freeze it in individual portions. I put 2 slices in a Ziploc Sandwich bag and then put those bags in a 1 gallon Ziploc Freezer bag. Works great.

I cook 2 (yes, two) beef roasts in my slowcooker and freeze them the same way. I hate to cook so when I cook something that freezes well, I cook for at least 8 and freeze it. Pork roast can be done in the oven and frozen.

Here's a general quiche recipe from Julia Childs. You can make a quiche for 1 or 2 or 12 depending on how big your dish is. Sometimes I make a quiche for 2 in a ramekin type dish and have it 2 days in a row. Here's her recipe:

Julia Child's Quiche

Put your fillings into a pie plate or whatever your dish is. Then you break an egg into a measuring cup, and add enough cream (I use 10% fat) to bring the total volume to 1/2 cup. So for a big quiche I might use between 6-8 eggs.

I will break three eggs into a two cup measure, and then add enough cream to bring the total volume to 1 & 1/2 cups (1/2 cup per egg) and then I beat the eggs in the measuring cup (which is why I don't put in 4 eggs at a time into a 2 cup measure).

Then I pour that over the fillings. I repeat, using as many eggs as necessary until the level of liquid is where I like it.
=====================================

The thing I like best about this recipe is you change it completely by the fillings you put in the pie plate (or ramekin). Ham & Swiss; Chicken & Provolone or Cheddar; Italian Sausage & Mozzarella; Bacon & Cheddar; Chicken, Asparagus, & any mild white cheese.....you are limited ONLY by your imagination.

Hope this helps. I also do Protein Shakes for lunch most of the time. They are healthy, cheaper than meat, and make for a change. Deviled eggs are great for "grab & go" and for snacks.

I have posted shake and deviled egg recipes several times. I'm afraid everyone will get tired of seeing them....so if you are interested in either or both, check them out here:

MEAT AND EGG, 3-5 Days or Until You Reach Goal***You Decide***MARCH 1-31 *** - Page 3 - Low Carb Friends

The Pumpkin Pie shakes are at the bottom. It’s Post #84. If you like Deviled Eggs, Post #63 on the same page has some good deviled egg recipes.

Here's a great meditation that might help someone: Daily Inspiration for Women I have always (at least for the last 40 years or so) believed in the theory of creative visualization and the idea that "thoughts are things."

The snow we got yesterday didn't stick to the ground, but I don't like it when it happens this time of year. You never know when it's the start of a real mess. We are supposed to be colder than normal again today. It's 10:35am and it's only 34*. The high is supposed to be just 40*. 60-65 is the normal for this time of year. It's supposed to start warming up to normal on Monday or Tuesday. I hope it really does this time. They've said that before this year and been wrong.

Guess I've gabbled long enough. See ya....

"Maintaining" at too high a weight? Aghhh! Me, too!

I've come to the conclusion that I am maintaining - not a bad skill to have gained after a life lived in abandon at a higher weight than is comfortable for my weight-bearing joints. Maintaining is a better way to look at my not losing or bouncing status as I struggle to get to THREEdom. Giving myself license to deviate from LC eating or to eat more than a moderate portion at a sitting - these two (mis)behaviors are costing me dearly. I find it hard to respect myself when my scale data goes UP instead of down. I am doing well to maintain, but I am 'maintaining' at a higher weight than is healthy for me. Got to stop 'maintaining' and start paring down!

How? All I can do is to cut back on portions. Mostly that is where I see my culpability in failing to honor my LC plan. I have to say that I am dodging so many carbs that used to play a BIG part in my life that I am proud of me for adapting to LC thinking. Bread is not a daily part of my life now. Amazing! Milk is not a daily part of my life now. Absolutely amazing! I've changed, and that is the most amazing thing of all to me as I observe and assess my chances of achieving success on this LC plan that I ***KNOW*** is a right way of eating and thinking for my body. My choices are so often better - so infrequently driven by desires that are impulsive - that I feel proud of myself for managing as I have done.

Now...just need to cut back on portions. Need to find out what fuels me and what overfeeds me, giving me more 'fuel' than my body can burn off fast. My goal is to fuel with fat&protein every few hours, not to overload my system.

And when I get down to ONEderLand, I can return to 'maintaining' as my body stabilizes at half my current weight. Then I shall again return to paring away ounces to get closer to the 150# that my 5'10" body probably ought to be.

Meat&Eggs is probably the road to THREEdom for me. Glad I found this list!

Hey Guys!

Judy: I know exactly what you mean about "maintaining" even though you're trying to lose. I've been in the 150's since November! I'll be a great maintainer, but I need to get the rest of this weight off first.

Although. . .

Yesterday I reported that I was down a pound on day 1 of TOM, and he usually brings me a pound or two instead. Well, I'm happy (ecstatic!?!) to report that I was down another 2.0 whole pounds this morning! I really never lose any weight during the first couple of days of TOM. . .usually not until day 3 or 4. Of course, I'm still in the 150's (you know this, b/c if I had gotten into the 140's I WOULD'VE POSTED IT IN THE FIRST SENTENCE!!)

Anyhoo. . .I had a big chicken BLT salad for lunch today (we went to the Roadhouse), and a big happy protein shake for dinner (tasted like a creamy milkshake tonight. . .I added 2 egg yolks. Wow! What a difference!)

Have a great night, everyone!

Love you guys!

Good evening to all those who are maintaining and not wanting to , those of you who are doing so well, so proud of you and all the rest of us who have fallen off the wagon and are trying to catch up. I feel your pain and struggle, I lose a few then gain a few, although I have been maintaining my 18 pound loss for a few months now and I am happy about that.

Gilly ~ If I don't straighten up I won't deserve anything on my birthday.

Mommie22boys ~ So excited to hear your great news! I do so much better at work then I do when I am home. I also only eat once a day and that has really worked well for me. I haven't tried any of the shakes yet but I probably will when it gets a little warmer.

Startingover ~

Zer ~ Portion control is really hard for me too, I have found that the more eggs I eat the less hungry I am.

Tina ~ Great to see you again!

Paris ~ As always thanks for the recipes. I am also in need of some flow

Morning all...TOM is kicking my butt!

I have a question...I just ordered the Turbo Jam workouts and was wondering if anyone else has them and what they think? They have a huge variety of workouts and look like a more fun version of a tae bo kind of workout. I figure with that kind of work out done on a regular basis and eating m/e I should melt pretty fast. Will let you know how it goes once it arrives.

Good morning....my weight is holding....didn't gain anything from the benefit dinner last night, but I only ate about 1/2 a cup of the spaghetti, if that. It really wasn't that good. The sauce was kinda dead (which made me happy cause then I didn't mind not eating it) and of course, I didn't eat any bread. They had salad so I had some of that...and just water to drink. They had soft drinks, but I find them easy to pass up. All in all, not bad. Definitely better than a gain.

Our temps are still way below normal so it's soup weather. Where is global warming??? Yesterday was cold and rainy off and on all day. At least the sun is shinning today...but it's still too cold to suit me. I have some soup in my freezer. Maybe I'll have that for dinner with a piece of meat. I have some pork chops that I am going to sear and then bake with a mushroom cream sauce this afternoon. I'll have one for dinner and freeze the rest. That and a protein shake for lunch will take care of my eating for today. Sounds like a plan.

Congrats to all the losers..........

Hugs to all those struggling (or maintaining when they WANT to lose).........

Good Monday Morning.

I say that with all the enthusiasm I have today, because I am back to work and away from all things that are sinfully delicious and totally evil

Hope everyone had a great weekend and were able to keep on their plan or close.

Lynnp ~ I Turbo Jam. I try to get a workout in between 5-6 times a week. I typically only do Cardio Party because it burns the fat right off of you. The only thing that I add is some very basic ab stuff, like crunches etc... I have noticed that my middle is shrinking and since I am a true "apple-shape" I need to whittle the middle

Congrats to everyone who is staying on track, you rock and those like me , lets pick ourselves up dust off the powdered sugar and get going! We can do it!

Hello everyone! After a not so great eating weekend I'm back on track today. I'm doing strict M/E with LC green veggies for the whole week and Friday I'll weigh to see my improvement (hopefully!). I've also entered the 60 day T-Tapp challenge so I'm hoping for some great "shrinking" of the trouble areas. Saturday I walked 3 miles while at DS's baseball practice. I didn't weigh this morning because yesterday I didn't eat great. I figure I'll weigh Friday and hopefully be surprised by a nice loss.
Menu so far today: 3 HB eggs
I think lunch will be grilled chicken with a small green salad and dinner is going to be ribeyes on the grill- YUM!

WCBL!

Good Morning Everyone!

Haven't posted in a few days since things weren't going so well...I didn't want to bring everyone down like I was...What I did was give my scale to my hubby and asked him to put in in his car, and only give it to me once a week....It was determining my humor...and I was afraid of food...which we all know is not good or normal...
Now I eat broccoli,or lettuce, or cauliflower, or flax, knowing it's healthy and without thinking how the scale will fluctuate the next day...Even if I GAIN, I'll only be sad just that day, instead of all 7 days of the week...it makes sense, doesn't it? I just didn't have enough will power to stay off of it, having it available..
I am strictly low carbing and I even use the shakes some days, I'm just not talking to that scale as often...
I've also been doing callanetics (I encourage you to look it up) and with just 3 hours, I already saw progress...So my scale would probably be up anyway..although I'm building lots of muscle inside..Yesterday we went bicycle riding for 4 hours! But I felt great I was able to handle it and am not sore today..
Well, it's too much about myself, but I wanted to share...

Gracie: So glad to see you back, you know I love your posts, I might even weight the same days as you do, if you're also able to stay away from that evil scale!

Cat: Please keep posting, as I've mentioned before, you're a big example on will power to exercise!

Lynn: As always, good to see you back, that exercise will help you a lot!

Paris:
Congrats on not falling off the wagon, we all know how hard it is to get back...especially if the food wasn't as delicious to make it worth...

Mommie22boys: Congrats on sticking to tha fast-5 along with this WOE! I certainly couldn't handle it! Let us know any news please..

Startingover: I haven't been able to welcome you! You're in a great place to stop maintainin and start LOSING!

Zer: Your posts are very interesting, you're certainly a great addition to this thread, Welcome!

Gillygum, Cutepixie, Browneyes, Tina, Wenig and everyone I'm missing, a big hug and please let us know how it's going for you all! You're missed!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I was UP 0.2 of a pound this morning. However, I figure it's still from the benefit spaghetti dinner....since I was on plan yesterday. OR it's just one of my "natural" bounces.

Today will be on plan too.

Lunch: Protein Shake
Snack: Hot Chocolate...maybe a little Salmon Salad if I get hungry before dinner
Dinner: Pork Sirloin Chops baked in a creamy mushroom sauce; lettuce salad w/O & V dressing

Our weather is starting to look a "little" better. This week will be warmer. At least that's what they are predicting. I just wish the rest of the dang buds would drop off my tree so I could vacuum the deck again. Not going to do it again until they are gone.

Guess I'd better get busy. Got to vacuum/dust today....and I hate dusting. One of these days I'm going to throw out all my knick knacks. Yeah...right!!

Have a good day....WCBL....

Tina...sorry for your loss.

Angie: That was a great idea to get rid of the scale. I try not to weigh everyday and especially after a cheat day. I would be depressed then the whole day. I believe that ignorance is bliss! Plus, then the stress of knowing that you gained doesn't help either. With all the exercise you're doing your scale can be telling you dirty lies too. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat! I've heard of callanetics, I'm going to google it.

Judy: I am selling my house so I had to take down all my knick-knacks so the house didn't look cluttered. The house looks naked!

Cat430: I agree with you totally, I do much better when I have a routine. The weekdays are much easier for me than the weekends. I was actually glad today was Monday
