I have been drinking the egg creams too. They are really helping me as well.

I just wish I had a boat to power wash! I'm ready to hit the river and catch some flatheads!

Phil....
I hear ya, we started boating several years ago with a 16ft Bayliner. We have four boys, and it was quite a sight to see the six of us coming up the river in a little boat. Once we got comfortable with that boat, and saved a little cash we decided to go bigger. Now, we have a 28 ft Imperial. I gotta say, I love my boat. It isn't new, but it meets our needs. She sleeps 6, has a small kitchen area, and bathroom. Single 350 engine, so not too bad on gas. During the summer we spend most of the time out there. There is something to be said for waking up on the boat, and having a cup of coffee on deck. We even stay out during the week, and I leave for work from the boat!!! Now, it's even better because with my new internet anywhere card, I can still get on the internet while at dock... I can't wait till she gets in the water, and stays there till fall!!!

So last night it snowed, and this weekend is a beach volley ball tournament that I'm playing in. This is going to be fun. So far between the snow, the mind at 30mph, and the rain, its been fun. Our team lost the first round, and won the second round. We play again in about two hours. If we win that, we play again tomorrow at noon. This could be a long, COLD weekend.

Update on the leg, feels better, still pretty bruised up and it hurts to walk on. Up another pound, now I'm starting to get mad. I have no idea why or how, I haven't gone off or anything. Maybe I'll head to the gym after tonights game and see if I can burn some of it off...

I got some encouragement from an unlikely source this evening. I was doing my 2 mile walk, like I do every evening, when an ice cream truck drives up next to me. The guy stops and waves me over. I went up to the window and he tells me he sees me walking all time and told me to keep up the good work. I thought that was pretty cool, although now I want a Choco Taco.

had my last run for week 6 c25k, 25 mins running no break, cant beleive i did it! a lady a few streets over stopped her car and said she always sees me running or walking and that i must be in great shape, the compliment was nice, but she didnt see me dragging my but trying to finish the 25 mins

got the folks visiting today, and the big deal, the little guy has a monster truck show on at noon today on tv, ive only been reminded a few thousand times or so, hope i dont forget

remember, May 1st is fast approaching, someone may need to get their speedo dusted off

Hey guys,

Figured it was time to check in. I really am trying hard not to go to the Chinese buffet. Its been such a good week and such a good month. I don't want to jinx it. It seems like I can usually get away with a very low carb buffet run, but you never can tell what they're putting in the food.

So its not official until the first of the month, but I weighed in today at 308. That puts me 10 down for the month. You should now all thank me for sparing you the Speedo pic.

Cheers,

careful, I'm feeling chatty again...

dudes, on Sat I hit 36 (yrs old) and the best present I gave myself was weighing in that day at 239.6.
I about fell over when I saw that...

May 1st Ill weigh in with Aprils total loss and to record the monthly. Hope to recover from that Pizza I had Sat night. Ate good yesterday and again today.

I'm over halfway done with the DANDR (Dr. Atkins 2002) book and am enjoying reading it and learning the science and system. Any of you dudes, like me that hadnt read the book, should. yeah, yeah...i know...its a "diet" book and ya feel like a girl reading it but think of it as a health book and tuck it behind an FHM mag and no one will even know.

Can you believe it. We had snow over the weekend. wont this ***** ever end!! global warming can kiss my @$$.

Win the mental game dudes, no matter how much it takes to get to your healthy number...do not give up. I'm gonna reevalute my goal number now, prob drop it too a 215-220 mark. Actually, the final number doesnt matter to me anymore. Its how I feel and look. None of my clothes fit anymore...belts can only have so many extra holes punched in 'em. Ive gone from a XXL to an XL and the XL aint tight. Gotta get to work here but I just want to keep encouraging you dudes to treat yourself well. Value yourself and be the best you can.

Hey Guys!

I had a good, solid week at induction levels. I feel back in control. Exercise was good for the most part. I had to work Saturday so I did not get in a hike. Took a long walk Sunday night so that helps some.

4/21 – 223
4/28 – 217

I’m down 6 for the week and 9 for the month. No speedo here!

Wall – Nice post. Inspirational. Keep up that great attitude. If you win the mental battle you can win the war.

For me it is on with week two at induction levels.

Great day guys!

A very good week for me, but so far, it's looking like I might be the speedo victim. Short of fasting for the next 3 days, I don't see how I could get to 10 pounds lost for the month.

Lots of big losers this week in Camp Charlie. WTG!

Wall, good message. When I first lost the weight in 2004 my initial goal was 210. I kept having to lower it, first to 200, then 195, then 190, and finally to 185. I haven't gotten to 185 yet, but will this year.

Ooba, good job on getting half way. 126 pounds is a long way to fall!

Alex, good to see you firmly back on track.

Monday Weigh in.

Weight Loss this week: 2.5
Weight Loss in 2008: 35.5

I'm getting close to the 10 lb mark, so I shouldn't need to get my speedo out.

I leave early for the Grand Cayman Islands with my family tomorrow morning. I have to work for a few days down there and decided to bring my family along for a mini-vacation. It's going to be interesting with a 3 year old and 10 month old on the plane, but we will get through it.

Keep up the good work guys!

This has been an awesome month for me. I can't remember the last time I went this long cheat free. And It shows in the numbers very nicely. Woot!

Wall: we're a few thousand years overdue for the next Ice Age to begin. It may be time to look into southern real estate.

Alex: Glad to hear induction is going well. You have been a real inspiration to me this past year.

Big D: you've put up some very respectable numbers this month. Don't sweat it too much.

Fatfreddie: two pounds a week is 104 pounds per year. I'd say that qualifies as a great week.

Congrats to Camp on an all around good week. Let's do it again.

Cheers,

This week loss: +1
Total Loss: 64lbs
Average lbs lost per day: .65 (64lbs/99days)

What a wild ride this week....

I remember this time last week I was down almost 4 then something happened, and I shot up by almost 10pounds. Spent a couple of extremely strict days at the gym, and it looks like it evened out to only a gain of one. Still within range for the 10lbs for April so I'm satisfied with that.

Question for you fellas that have read the book:

After having a day of eating more carbs than usual... (like my "cheat" day on Saturday with pizza)... does it take about 2 days for the body to get back on track from using that carb sugar as energy to going back to using stored fat??

Do you know what I'm asking?

The Dr. says it takes about 2 days to deplete our glucose level from carbs...so after a day of eating more carbs than normal, I should expect to eat clean 2 days afterwards to fix my body.

I hope that makes sense. Can someone please comment and let me know if i'm thinking right...

Wall, it usually takes me about 3 days to get back to normal. It's weird for me, the day after an indiscretion, I generally don't see the damage. Day 2 is when it hits me. Once I've cleaned up my act, I'm back to normal on the 3rd or 4th day.

I am not doing atkins/induction but when I stray off plan, (usually w/pizza or nachos) I see the weight gain the next morning. It takes about 2-3 days before I can see a loss again, but for me I think it all has to do with extra sodium and water retention.

Hey Guys,

Some good losses last week! Nice job!

Wall - I'm like Big D. It takes three days to get rid of the junk and I usually don't see the "hit" until day two.

Getting back on track is the tricky part!!!

thanks fellas. helps to know i'm learning.

i never officially did induction either...but lately ive kinda discovered my menu is practically induction.

2 egg whites/some sausage ea morning 7am

lettuce salad w/ceasar or can of tuna or pepp/cheese slices for lunch....or combo of all noon

couple pieces of chicken or pork for supper 6pm

celery/peanut butter in the eve 7-8pm

thats a somewhat typical 5 day a week workday menu

just sharing...
btw, this week ive officially given up carrots due to reading they are possibly playing with my blood sugar.
gotta say...being at the point that eating carrots is something to care about feels pretty weird. ha!
