Well that is most unfortunate because it was my plan to do a copy and paste then update my chart every week because it was not easy to put it together. I guess I will have to figure something else out then. Thanks Sun

sun WTG! Look's like you are on the ball girl.
I am going to get my DH to fix my son's old mountain bike for me so I can ride it up the fire road here and get some exercize. ( I havent been able to get any exercize really.) But I have been going for walks to build myself up for the bike. I have about two more weeks wearing my brace, and I am praying the doc will say it's okay to ride the bike. There will be no more pleasure horse back riding for me this year I am going to take this summer when I heal and just do ground work with the horses. Then maybe this winter, or next year they will be really good to take out and about. Did you all have a nice weekend? It was nice and warm here I was loving it and we got a kid free weekend, so we went out to a casino that was here close. It was either do that or go out to eat dinner........I picked casino even though I am not one to gamble. To afraid of temptations to go out to eat.I plan to stick to the meat and egg thing a little longer, I am happy with the weight loss. "Sun, I wish I had some answers to help you get some loss." ![]() I know it has to be hard ![]() But, on the brighter side...."You look wonderful as you are!!!" bridget Is the computer thing getting better yet? ophelia Did you get that chance to have a tuna melt yet? ![]()

I'm reading the Mastering book now, Sun. I'm confused though, do you want leptin or do you not? Which way are you wanting to control? Just wondering.

Hi, I am here. No computer problems, just really busy. Plus I am a little sore.
I am on plan and feel as though I have a groove going. It feels kind of nice. I hope I can keep it going for a long long time! I took a quilting class last night and I find I did not prepare properly so I have a ton of homework to do before the next class next week. At least it will be fun homework. I did some painting for my folks the other day and then went to the driving range yesterday and I can't believe how sore I am from those two silly little things. I really suck at golf but dh loves it so I am going to make a good effort to play this year because I like it when he is happy. I also got a running book for sissies like me. I am going to read it over the summer and use it when the weather turns cold again (I'll use my treadmill). I am waiting because with the good weather we will be doing alot of outdoor activities and this is a regimented routine. Hopefully I will lose a good amount of weight by then so it will be easier. I am not a natural runner but feel it will really help me when I am down to my last few lb's to lose. How is that for planning ahead, ha ha Jo - I am sure that tiny little bit of chocolate will not hurt you. If you were to look it up it probably had so few carbs it would surprise you. I hope you sucked it slow and let it linger on your tongue a long long time, ha ha.. Okay now that just sounded dirty didn't it, haha ... Riding your mountain bike on that trail sound so wonderful. I hope you are able to do it. I am crossing my fingers that your dr.'s are kind to you and let you remove your brace ...... Do you have banana slugs in your woods. Just curious. Rebecca - cool for you that you got new books. I hope the leptin plan works well for you. I know that Sun has had good success with it and it will be good to be doing the same problem along with some on. Good luck and happy reading! Sun - I understand totally about working so hard and not being able to see your rewards. It is very difficult. Here is a hug for you and a big pat on the back for sticking it out! Ophelia, Paws, Blache, Sophie - hey girlies, I am sending sunshine and good wishes your way. Last edited by bridget : 04-15-2008 at 11:20 AM. |

The brain has to be able to sense the correct level of leptin and from that it determines the amount of fat that gets stored. When the brain isn't sensing the hormone correctly it makes fat accumulate and metabolism slows down. So it isn't so much do we have too much or not enough leptin, but is the brain sensing the correct level. What we want is to maximize the proper function of leptin. The things that make the function go bad is when we eat at night, snack, overeat, we don't exercise and we stress out. Leptin's goal is to replenish the storage of fat after the body has been deprived for awhile. That is why it is dangerous to eat low calorie. Leptin detects the deprivation and comes on strong to keep the body from starving and causes us to eat like crazy to regain the body's store of fat. Richards, Mercola, and Rosedale says the way around this is to eat in the ways that will maintain the proper balance of leptin. When we get obese, there is too much leptin in the blood, but not enough getting into the brain. So we keep making more and more leptin and the brain doesn't know it. Low leptin in the brain causes many other problems and puts us at risk for Alzheimers and Parkinsons. When the brain is reading leptin properly it signals the body that it has eaten enough. So what we want is to not be leptin-resistant meaning our brain can't hear the signals telling it to stop eating and store fat. Once leptin senses the body is full it reduces the appetite and burns fat. Hope that helps a bit. It is an issue of function, not amount. Jo- thanks for your support. You and Bridget are always so giving and supportive. Thank you for that and thanks for the compliment. I hope you get to ride your bike. Are you sad not to ride the horses? How many do you have? Yes I am still eating strictly to avoid the gluten. I think a few SF chocolates aren't going to be a problem! I think a touch of chocolate is good for the soul! Bridget- congrats that you are in a groove and on plan. ![]() That is the news I like to hear! Cool that you are going to run. I always wished I could do that! SO you are back in quilting class again? That's great! What quilt are you going to make this time? Mine? ![]() So sweet that you are going to golf to make DH happy. He is a lucky guy. ![]() Did everyone get their taxes done????????? I had to pay this year. Last edited by sungoddess : 04-15-2008 at 05:21 PM. |

Hi Sun,
It is so good to see you doing so well. I am so happy for you too that you are in the groove and working the program. .. The run is still a hopeful thing, it is not something that comes naturally to me and I have a horrid stride. But I am hoping that when (I almost said if) lose a few lbs it will be easier on my joints. I will let you know how it goes. Here it the quilt I making in class. Although mine has different fabric and the borders are going to be a bit different. The Quilt Works, Inc. wjhoops that didn't take you to the quilt. click on classes and then scroll down to desden bloom.. Sorry for the inconvenience. It is fun. I am going to use it as a wall hanging. Now I didn't know you would like a quilt. I will have to put you on my list. I still owe you an afagan LOL.... I guess I got distracted, one day, when I get back to that yours will be first. Please let me know if you change your color sceme in your house, ha ha .. darn why can't you use emoticons in a quick reply... Jo - Golf can be good exercise especially if you are as out of shape as I am at it, ha ha... Man, I know better. I don't really like to play that much. I definetly do not keep score, but I love walking around the courses, they are so beautiful and for me golf is really really good exercise because I have to hit twice as many balls as most people, ha ha.. It is a lovely thing to do. Last edited by bridget : 04-15-2008 at 05:33 PM. |

Thank you so much for explaining that to me, Sun. The book is very interesting but sometimes it goes over my head and I have to read it over a few times. That is just me, sometimes I have trouble interpreting what I read (thus, I had to take a beginners class in Reading when I went to college. LOL. NO problem reading romance books or mysteries, just things like what I'm reading now). My father was "potbellied" from his love of food and had Parkinson's when he passed, so this is making a whole lot of sense to me!
How is everyone else doing? Jo, are you golfing today? Bridget, good job getting on plan. What WOE do you do?

Jo - I can certainly imagine why you wouldn't want to get hurt anymore, especially with the back to back injuries. It is good you can still do ground work with them though.
Rebecca - I am just doing a plain and simple low carb plan. I am trying to eat as few carbs as I can each day and do as much exercise as I can. KISS you know ![]() |
