Hey don't beat yourself up. Nothing to confess. So you CHOSE to have a (rare) beloved treat and now you're compensating by eating a little healthier. Hey, that's life. That's reality. It's gonna happen. It's how you handle it that matters. And you did fine. In fact, great. You didn't go on to a full-blown carb fest or anything. You snacked (NOT cheated) and then you got back on track and on with your life. Sounds very healthy to me.

But one look at that bag of little balls of chocolate chip cookie dough that MIL put in the freezer and it's all over with. I'll just have 1. OK 2. Well, no more than 5. *sigh* I guess I've found my weekness.

The good news is it didn't seem to make me gain. (They were very small.) I've been trying to keep my carbs lower than normal to make up for it.

Yesterday's menu:
B: Atkins bar
L: salami and cream cheese
S: Atkins bar
D: egg cream

I don't usually eat 2 atkins bars in one day, but it was better than getting some carbage from the vending machine.

Mariska. I do think you're the young'un of the group. I'm 31. I'm also trying to move to more whole foods, but it's a work in progress.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend?

These are my weakness too! Yesterday a HS girl came to the door to deliver some that DH had apparently bought. So of course the kids wanted some ASAP. I looked at the ingredient list and they were just junky. But I made them anyway. Thank goodness I had some Big Train brownie mix, I made that for me and proceeded to eat almost half the pan. LOL. At least I didn't have any stomach issues. Portion control is a hard thing for me.

I'm glad you didn't gain!

Hang in there Angel. If I know anyone who can get right back on track...it is you. ((Hugs))

I have not been consisten with my eating. Due to the move and working a million hours, I have not been able to cook anything healthy. I am using this time as a "reason" to not be consistent. I made up my mind to be prepared for healthy eating starting on Tue. I have a 3 day weekend but I am finishing up my move and putting things away. I have a goal to get this place all unpacked and put away by Monday afternoon.

Went over to BF Dad house last night and his step mom taught me how to knit, so in my not so spare time I am knitting to keep me from eating and to relieve stress. I never thought I was the knitting type but I am acutally enjoying it. I am using some cotton yarn and making a wash cloth.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Thanks for the support everyone. I am back on plan, but I know that the cookie dough is still in the freezer, and I'm fighting helping myself to a few of them. It's a struggle, especially since DH and I went to the Olive Garden last night (a splurge meal we've been planning for a few weeks now) and I had pasta and breadsticks (along with salad and shrimp). All those carbs are making me more tempted than normal by carby food. We're going to a BBQ tomorrow at the home of some new friends, so I don't know what they are going to be serving. We should be fine though with protein, it's just the side dishes that I'm concerned about. Not worried, just trying to be aware and prepared.

I did pretty well today, so far.
B: bacon, tea, some mixed fruit
L: quesadilla on LC tortilla, sour cream & salsa
D: egg cream

Anyone have fun plans for tomorrow?

Angel have a great time at the BBQ. You can do it and eat clean.

I dont have any plans for today, except finish up the move and clean the old apt. This weekend has been relaxing, yet busy. Today is my last day to get everything out of the old apt. I have also been working on setting up and cleaning the new place and putting things away.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!
Anyone else with fun plans?

I am looking for new recipes to try. I am getting a little bored with my cooking. I have tons of cookbooks for LC cooking and my own cookbook that I made from recipes I printed out here and put in the cookbook. I am ready to try new recipes. Anyone have any good recipes you would like to share with the group?

Because MIL lives with us. She likes her junk food and keeps it around all the time. Normally it doesn't bother me, but cookie dough is just one of those things that calls to me.

Liz, Congrats on your new apartment and getting everything done so quickly. My moves always take weeks or months to get everything set up. Great job getting back on plan right away. I hope you are able to minimize the damage that way.

We did have a good time at the BBQ. I stayed on plan, DH did not. Oh well. It's his choice. I can't babysit him.

I need to get to work. Have a great Tuesday!

Can I join from San Jose?

I was here about a year ago. Then went 100% raw foodist. I felt great and maintained a good weight. Slowly my manbear and I started blowing it a couple of months ago. We started eating everything under the sun, and moon! We each gained about 10 back, plus his diabetes is out of whack again. I though we could try this again to get the carbs, sweets, and cravings out of our system. Maybe lower fat and under 20 carbs? Its funny, I started working at Whole Foods Market and started putting the weight back on. Lots of free samples, etc. So... I'm here and going to commit to this for awhile. Any info would be great. Thanks

Hi everybody - I made it!!
My 1st experience sleeping in a tent and it rained almost the entire time.
It was still a whole lot of fun though.
Didn't do Callanetics in my tent but took part in a really fun African dance class on the one day it didn't rain and also walked a lot.

I had Egg Creams everyday.
On the days I didn't feel like making coffee, I walked over to the concession area and bought coffee and had them pour it directly into the jar with the eggs, cocoa, xylitol, cream, and coconut oil already in it. Needless to say, I got some stares - but it was fun.

I ate a few high carb meals, hamburgers and fries for 2 of the meals, pizza we made on the grill for another, and then the agave that we added to the sugar-free hot cocoa with rum that we drank quite a bit to keep us warm.

I'm surprised how much fun we had considering it rained so much. Some really amazing, fun loving people there. Can't wait to go back.

Welcome new people! I'll write more later - hope y'all had a great long weekend!!

Here you go, this is my Recipe. I find that I MUST add coconut oil AND protein powder or I just don't stay full on an EC as a meal replacement.

HB's Favorite Breakfast ~ Egg Cream Frappuccino

3 organic free-range/cage-free eggs (fresh!)
8 oz coffee (brewed strong & chilled overnight - or you can make & use coffee ice cubes!)
1 scoops Jay Robb's whey protein powder (chocolate or vanilla or strawberry)
splash of Torani or DaVinci SF syrup (french vanilla or chocolate or any flavor you like!)
2 Tbsp organic heavy cream
2 Tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil (melted)

blend/froth eggs first; add cream and blend/froth again
(makes it fluffy!)
add the rest of the ingredients in the order above; add melted CO last

Enjoy!

There are a ZILLION yummy other recipes posted here:

But stay away from the SF jello & SF diet sodas (aspartame)

Hi! Busy day at work and I am exhausted. I have a hard time on Tue night to Wed morning shifts.

Kris, I am in a cooking slump too. Hopefully, I can come up with new and fun things to eat.

Mama, I am an Atkins girl. I dont drink the egg creams but Angel,Angela, and HB swear by them. Looks like HB has a good recipe.

A good dessert is crack cake. Let me hunt down the recipe for ya
Crack cake AKA 3 min choc cake

I managed to stay on plan 2 days now. One more day and I am over the "hurdle" Not too much damage was done. The good thing, is the Met helps with insulin resistance so I find when I go off plan while on this med, It does not affect me as bad as going off plan used to. Now I know I cant use my Met as a crutch but it is a good piece of info for me to tuck away.

Menu

B: Atkins shake (the new ones are yucky)
L: Smoothie
D: chicken and broccoli
S: protein bar and a few samples of Aidells sausage.

Healthy Indulgences She's from the board too.

I'm loving this one! The McMuffins were fab. The yogurt parfait was A++! I can't wait to try the ice cream pops tomorrow because the store-bought ones suck a-- in my opinion. I just have to make enough for the kiddos too!
