Good Thursday Morning!

E: none
B: eggs
L: chicken
D: burger

Have a great day!

Good morning, Meg. Sorry for the silence, but I have been very sick. I still am exhausted and feel like something the cat hacked up, but the fever is gone. I still can't breathe, but at least the fever is gone. I actually slept all day yesterday (DD was home). And yet, I could go back to bed right now and sleep all day again. Whew!

Bad news. My DD lost the baby. She was just short of 6 weeks along, but they were so excited. She spent yesterday with my grandbaby, just playing and being together and it did wonders for her healing process. We are sad, but know that this happens and she will have a baby soon enough.

Then I found out this morning my Aunt passed away yesterday. She had alzheimers and was in bad shape, so it is a blessing for my uncle, but still very sad. What a week.

Today will be mostly just resting and getting some fluids in my body. I didn't drink anything yesterday, nor eat, so today, need to feed the body.

Hang in there at work and be happy you have a job! It will get better!

E - None except power napping!
B - coffee, oatmeal
L - burger
D - no idea
water, water, water....

Happy Friday! Hope all is well.

More rest needed today. I'm still not feeling very well and completely exhausted. I'm hoping to feel good enough tomorrow to start working out again. But when I do, it will be very, very slowly.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Monday, Meg. Is everything okay? Not hearing from you for so long has me worried! I hope you are just busy and not sick!

The cold I had last week just kicked my bootie! I didn't get to the gym at all this weekend; I was busy trying to breath! It seems the cold, which was bad enough, has turned into a screaming sinus infection. Ugh! I don't care how bad I feel tonight, I'm going to the gym. I can't make it another day without a workout. (Can you believe I'm saying that?)

I was completely off the wagon the last several days. I was hardly eating at all, but when I was it was graham crackers with peanut butter (I don't know why, but it was all I could eat) with a glass of whole milk. In the scheme of things, it could have been much worse, so I'll just get over it. I'm grocery shopping tomorrow, so will load up on the good stuff.

I do hope you are well. I hope to hear from you soon!

E - 1 hour at the gym (light cardio and light weights)
B - coffee, eggs
L - grilled cod filet
D - grilled pork loin and veggies

Hi Kat!

I'm here - just not feeling good still. Friday morning I just ran out of time to post and this morning I was feeling so terrible it took everything out of me to come to work. I went to workout, hoping it would help me feel better, but I just felt worse. Its like the edge of the flu w/o all it being full blown - exhaustion, bloating, upset tummy, achiness and headaches.

My weekend was nice and relaxed, didn't do too much - did find the new couches I want. I need to replace my couches they are terrible. I think I'll get them this week - I'm terrible at making decisions when it comes to large sums of money!

Well, that's about it for now. I'll be back tomorrow. I'm glad to hear you are starting to feel better - must be a computer virus

E: 30 min cardio/interval

Good afternoon, Meg.

Unfortunately, I'm sicker than I was before. I have a raging sinus infection and no insurance and nowhere to go for help. Ugh. I can barely get up the stairs without being winded and my head pounding. The good thing is my appetite is gone, so maybe weight will drop while I'm sick.

Hot and beautiful here in CO. Went to Sam's Club for food today (I love being the responsible shopper) so have lots of LC options for me. This afternoon it is out to the lawn so Ali can play in the pool and hang out with me. It's too hot for anything else and I'm just not up to anything.

I didn't get to the gym yesterday and already know today is out. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll have enough breath to at least do a small, easy workout. We'll see.

Have a great day!

E - breathing
B - coffee
L - steak

Good Wednesday Morning!

I'm so sorry to hear you still aren't feeling well. The heat doesn't make it any better. We are in the 90's again today, I can't take high heat and humidity. It was already 75 degrees at 5am.

The week is almost over for me, thank goodness. It gets harder and harder every day. But I'll survive.

Take care of yourself and try to have a good day!

Good morning, Meg.

I have been busy having a pity party and have not been paying close enough attention to what is happening in your life, so spill it. What is happening? What is bad? What is almost over? Is it still the women at work being a pain in the a$$ or is it something different? Please, throw some info this way!

I'm hoping that I can make it to the gym today, even for just a bit. Anything to get me moving and feeling better. I'm also going to see if our local Walmart has a clinic available. If so, I might be able to cough up the $$$ to get the infection checked and get some antibiotics. Keep your fingers crossed!

Another hot one here today, so more pool time this afternoon with Ali!

Enjoy your Wednesday and keep up the good work, Meg.

E - maybe 30 minutes at the gym????
B - coffee (I can't swallow anything else)
L - ice tea and SF jello
D - not sure...something liquid

Hey Kat!

Not too much is really happening – I’m just having a real issue with my job. I hate to complain about it, I know – it’s a job. But the girl I share my office with is so condescending and she’s lucky I haven’t slapped her yet; I can’t even look at her when she talks to me – that’s how disgusted I am with her. She treats everyone like they are her children. And my boss, well – she’s an idiot. There’s a bunch of infighting with these women in our department and it’s really sickening. My boss and my office mate are so paranoid about one lady that they are so busy worrying about what she’s doing and not doing their jobs. There were supposedly all of these plans for me but they haven’t moved on anything – I took this job because I wanted to do more, because I can do more and quite frankly I’m confident enough that I could run this place. Some days I twiddle my thumbs, the boredom is what is killing me – making it through each week is difficult. I have applied for other jobs but haven’t heard anything just yet. I know the economy and jobs suck right now but neither in the area I live nor the fields I am qualified for. I just started looking this week so we’ll see. Plus the company I work for is part of a larger health care group and they are falling apart – we currently have 5 hospitals in the system (plus other facilities) and we are losing 2 of them soon. I am worried about losing my job because when the 2 hospitals leave there will need to be some major cuts as 1 of them is the major money maker. So it’s really just all stressful at this point. But I’m trying not to let it get to me and just doing what I need to do.

So that’s it in a large nutshell! On another note – I have a closet full of clothing that doesn’t fit! Some of them are brand new (or were when I bought them forever ago) thinking they’d fit later, unfortunately (and fortunately) they are too big. So I need to clean out my closet and try really hard to find clothes that fit. I’m down to 2 pairs of pants that work – thank goodness they are black and I can wear them all of the time! I’m just having a hard time finding clothes I like. Couple of issues – I’m picky about pants and I wear them lower because I have a long torso but I have wide hips and thick thighs so really it’s just my own personal issue and I can keep making excuses but that won’t work – the other issue is that I need shirts with long sleeves because I have a tattoo on my forearm and that’s a no-no here, along with some other things like no crop pants, no open toed shoes – its really messing with my summer wardrobe! Finding long pants and long sleeved shirts is very difficult this time of year. Oh, and I don’t do skirts because I cannot stand pantyhose.

Sorry this is so long; I guess I had a lot on my mind! I did make it to the gym this morning and had an awesome workout. I love doing intervals.

I hope you are starting to feel better, not having insurance sucks and that’s the time you get sick.

Have a great day! I’ll be back tomorrow morning to report my loss for the week!

E: 30 min cardio/intervals

S/L: shake
D: chuck eye

Good morning, Meg.

I'm so glad you finally told me what is going on. Doesn't it feel good to just let it all out? I can honestly sympathize with you, as I've worked with people like this before. First of all, this is why I don't like working with women - too much dang drama! I have never been subtle about my thoughts, so my boss (several years ago) had me take a class called Crucial Conversations and it was AWESOME! It teaches you how to speak your mind without causing more drama. The link for the book is ::VitalSmarts - Books:: and you might find it helpful. On a personal note, I highly recommend a book called the Celestine Vision, which tells you how to shut down different dramas people use to control other people. It even goes into the drama they create (the poor me, the aloof, etc.). Very enlightening book.

Sorry...I digress...I think it is easier to get a job when you have a job, so get out there and start looking. I know the medical field is wide open. As the economy worsens, people get sicker! My daughter is so happy she started in medical. She's already been promoted once and they are sending her to school in coding. She loves it! I am certified in transcription, but haven't done it for so long I don't know I could remember anything.

The sinus infection is beginning to get better (thank you antibiotics) but the virus in my mouth and throat is worse. I have those little blisters all over the back of my mouth and throat. Gods they are painful. I can't eat solid food, so for today I will eat ice cream. I hate to do it, but that is all I can get down that doesn't make me cry to eat it! BTW, this is proving to be a very effective weight loss program. I'm melting away...

Have a great day, get through the week and let me know if you need to vent. I'm here to listen. That's part of the beauty of our supporting each other. Okay?

E - resting today
B - ice cream, coffee
L - sparkling water, chicken broth
D - sparkling water, something liquid
S - ice cream when needed

Good Friday Morning!

Thank you so much for letting me vent! I will pick up the book - they have it at my library, it sounds interesting. I'm hoping it is easier to find a job while I have one, I have several leads and I'm hoping something will work out.

I'm glad you got some antibiotics - sounds like you have a nasty bug!

I am very excited this morning to report that I have lost 5, yes 5 lbs this week!!! I am so freaking excited, I couldn't believe the scale but I got on and off several times and it was the same!!! Plus I decided to measure and holy cow - I've lost an inch from my calves, which is amazing and difficult for me. I've also lost inches everywhere else, except for my arms, I hate my fat arms! But it'll happen, patience.

We had some wicked storms roll through in the middle of the night, kept me up half the night. Too tired to workout this morning but needed a day off anyways so no big deal. I'll go this weekend.

So that's about it for now. I've got more painting to do this weekend and some cleaning. Hopefully I'll have an interview set up for next week.

Have a great weekend!

E: none today
B: eggs
L: shake
D: mexican

Good morning, Meg. It sounds like you were hit with the storms we had all afternoon and evening here. We were getting 1 1/2 inches of rain in 20 minutes in many areas. Lots of flash flooding. LOTS of lightening. I love storms. I fell asleep to the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance. The news is saying that we will have more of the same today. I can't complain since we've been in a severe drought for over 6 years here. And being high plains desert, we have to take rain when we can get it.

My sinus infection is a little better. The virus is worse. My mouth is full of little blisters. Man, they hurt. Today will be food, even if I have to mush it up to swallow it. Maybe some cold salad. We'll see how it works.

I am so proud of you for losing another 5#! This puts you within 10 pounds of your 70 pound goal, doesn't it???? I'm so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have got to be on cloud 9!

Enjoy the book this weekend. I'm sure you will get a lot out of it. I hope you are picking up Celestine Vision (James Redfield) as it is very enlightening and it really helps you quickly stop the drama!

Let me know how the job hunt goes! Have a great weekend and keep up the great work!

E - maybe swim at the gym tonight/
B - coffee
L, D - not sure. depends on what I can swallow

Good Monday Morning!

How was your weekend? Mine was more painting, I am sick of painting but my house desperately needed it! The lady I bought it from had her daughter do some quick and sloppy job and it just looked like crap. I also bought me some new couches, finally! I'll get them delivered this week, so yet another reason I had to get the living room painted.

So I am 8 lbs away from a 70lb loss!!! That is amazing, I think I am at the lowest weight I've been at in the last 15 years!!! The funny thing is that I am making my own birthday cake tomorrow, I need to make a practice cake for my daughter's birthday next month. So I'm hoping to remain in control and eat only one piece then makes sure the family eats the rest. I mean, it'll be my birthday, I can eat one piece of cake right? Its weird being in this new territory, weight wise, and it makes me nervous!!

Okay - on to do some work now. I hope your virus has cleared up and you are feeling better. Oh, a funny thing happened on the way to work - first I got stopped by about 50 geese trying to decide to cross the road (they take up the whole road), so when I got past them I got stopped by 2 peacock's crossing the road (one white and the other colored) then I got stopped by a family of bunnies and finally I saw 4 deer by the road - it was like driving through a mini safari this morning! All within 15 minutes!

E: 30 min cardio/interval
B: eggs
L: shake
D: burger

Have a great day!

Happy Monday, Meg!

You are 62# down! Can you believe it? I know it has been a long, long road, but taking longer to lose the weight is essential to making sure you keep it off. I am SO FRIGGING PROUD OF YOU!! Seriously, girl, it is time for a picture or two. You have worked hard for this and you need to acknowledge your hard work. POST A PICTURE!!!

I really don't like my weekends; in fact, I dread them. The kids are home and they are always asking where I am going; what am I doing; am I going to do anything, etc. You would think they knew I didn't have any money and with no money, not a lot to do. I always feel in the way, so usually spend my weekend playing dodge to make sure I'm not bothering them.

However, Saturday I went to a Peace Corp picnic in Lakewood and it was great! I talked my DD to come with me (with Ali too, of course!). First of all, it was our first day in 12 straight days with no serious storms in the afternoon. I saw that as a good omen. Next, I got to meet a lot of former PC volunteers, some that went in 1961 with the first group! Lots of information was shared. Many of the former volunteers, once seeing on my nametag where I was going, would sit me down and talk about their experiences and kind of expectation set for when I go. I now feel like this whole experience is real. I'm really going to Africa and I'm really going to make a difference. I have signed up for the mailing/emailing list for future functions so I can go to them and meet more folks. I'm so excited.

Yesterday I finally returned to the gym. I worked out for 2 hours straight then hit the hot tub. I am sore today, but it sure felt good. My bag is already packed and ready to go for my session tonight. The first 20 minutes were hard as my body didn't want to do anything, then I got the rush and had a great time.

Grandbaby, Ali, is walking like crazy now, so I will be getting daily workouts chasing her around. I sure enjoy it though.

Anyway, yes, have birthday cake! After all this hard work, have a fantastic birthday dinner, some cake, then the next day...water, water, water!

Okay, I've rambled enough for today. Keep up the great work, Meg, and think about posting that picture...maybe as a birthday present to yourself.

E - 2 hours at the gym
b - coffee, eggs
L - pork chop and salad
D - pork loin and salad

Have a great day,
kat

Awww! Thank you so much Kat!

It's going to be a good day, I'm all alone in the office!! My new couches are coming home and I finally got rid of my old nasty couches! Plus I had a great workout.

The whole peace corp idea is really becoming your reality! That is so awesome that you are at a point in your life where you can really follow a dream and help others along the way.

I'm keeping it short as I'm already running late. Have a great day!

Happy Tuesday and happy, happy Birthday! I hope you had a great day and enjoyed that cake! Now, get a glass of water (a big one) and drink it while you read!

It feels so good to get back to the gym. I am so sore this morning, but a good sore. I've been constantly adding new weight lifting machines to my routine so I'm always adding a new muscle group. My weight doesn't drop like I want it to, but my body composition is, so I can't complain. I am making sure to eat fewer calories that I burn every day, so it is just a matter of time. I can feel the muscle base I am building, but it is still buried under my fat. I know...patience!

Another day of sunshine here, so will enjoy every minute of it!

E - 2 hours at the gym
B - coffee, steak
L - steak, salad
D - salmon steak and veggies

Good Morning Kat!

I got my new couches!!! Finally, I have never purchased "new" couches in my life and I think I deserved them and with the house newly painted they look awesome!

So dinner was my favorite pizza from a place that only existed where I used to live and they have now opened a new store down the street from me! They followed me here! And I made the cake, I used buttercream and it was way too sweet for me. The cake was actually really good, I used a reduced sugar one and it turned out awesome. I had one piece and sent the rest with my BF to work today so it no longer exists in my house. I felt like crap last night but worked out a little bit harder and drank plenty of water and will continue throughout the day. I won't weigh in this week though, no point in discouraging myself when I know it'll go away.

I've decided to take tomorrow and Friday off of work, I need a break. So I may forget to post as I try to stay away from the computer at home. I'd really like to take a long weekend and go somewhere - anywhere. My daughter has been out of town with the grandparents and she comes home next weekend so this is the time to do it. I'll let you know if it pans out.

Oh and photos, I don't think one exists of me, I usually delete them right away - I know its wrong and it is a great comparison but I really have image issues and it depresses me. How about stats? I don't think I've posted these before so here goes:

Start Weight: 321 - 5'9
Current: 259

Start:Current
Calves 18.5": 17.0"
Thighs 32.0": 28.0"
Hips 54.0": 48.0"
low torso 49.0": 44.0"
waist 44.0": 38.0" (I have a long torso)
Chest 42.0" :37.0" (band measurement)
Arms - I don't want to go there!

Okay - there it is, much easier than a picture!!

Have a great day! I'm glad you got back to the gym.

E: 30 min cardio/intervals
B: eggs
L: shake
D: shake

Happy Wednesday!

I'm glad you splurged last night and lived it up on your birthday. This is to be a sustainable lifestyle, so you need to be able to kick up your heels from time to time without having a total meltdown after.

Your stats are great. Over 35 inches lost so far. Isn't that great? I understand the comment about arms. Somehow I developed "wings." Does nature really believe when we hit 40 we need to fly? The only way to get rid of them is weights. Lots of weights. Not heavy ones, just lots of reps with low weight.

Another beautiful day here, so more sunshine with the grandbaby. What a life I have...

I hope you do take some time off and get out of town for a while. Go somewhere and have fun, relax and just decompress! I probably won't see you on here for a while, so have a very happy and safe 4th of July!!

E - gym 2 hours
B - eggs, coffee
L - burger and salad
D - taco salad

Good Thursday Morning!

I ended up needing to kill time already and its not even 8:30! I've gotten the last room painted (for now - I still need to do the bathroom but the ceiling needs finished first). Now I'm just waiting for my primer to dry on the mouldings and I can get them painted.

I got a great workout in today. It's also beautiful and only in the upper 60's today!! I love cooler weather, especially in July. I'd like to go somewhere but I don't know if that will happen or not, we'll wing it and see. If I have everything done today there's no reason not to pack up and go - somewhere!

I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy that grandbaby as much as possible.

Happy Thursday!

The Whoosh Fairy visited last night. I don't know what she did to the scale, but physically, she removed a couple of inches from my belly! WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO! How it happens overnight is a mystery to me, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I had an awesome workout last night. I only worked out for an hour, but I think because of the heat and sweating it made it seem like more than it was. A bit sore today, but not bad considering the weights I was lifting.

I'm going to enjoy my day in the sun this morning as we are expecting severe weather this afternoon.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend and enjoy the new furniture!

E - 1 hour at the gym (maybe 2 hours)
B - coffee
L - meat of some sort (I haven't woken up completely)
D - more meat and a veggie

Good Monday Morning!

I'm glad the whoosh fairy visited, I can't wait until you do your weigh-in - when is that?

We didn't leave for the weekend, just hung out and did nothing. I did clean my closet out and donated 3 huge garbage bags of clothing that is just too big - no excuses, I have nothing that is too big so no room for messing up!

I got my workout in this morning and that felt good but it was really foggy and humid out, major difference from the weekend. And I'm back to work, ugh.

Have a great day!

E: 30 min cardio/intervals
B: eggs
L: shake
D: burger

Happy Tuesday, Meg!

It must have felt great to get rid of so many clothes! By getting rid of them, you just affirmed with yourself you are never going back there again! I'm so proud of you.

Weekend was boring and nothing worth writing about other than my workouts were great. I did weigh in and only have lost about 10 lbs in the past 6 weeks, however, my body composition has changed, so I'm not going to worry about it. I know have some good muscle covered in a layer of fat. Eventually the fat will go. I am fitting completely different in my clothes, so that is something, right?

We are finally NOT expecting rain the rest of the week, so I'm pretty stoked. We have had huge storms every day for weeks, which is completely unheard of in Colorado. But everything is green and gorgeous, so no complaints from me.

I took yesterday off at the gym, so back at it today. I love it more and more every time I go!

Have a great day!

E - 2 hours at the gym
B - coffee
L - chicken breast grilled and salad
D - pork chop

Good Wednesday Morning!

10 lbs in 6 weeks is awesome! You are working out so much that before you know it the weight will just start to fly off. I’m sure you’ve lost more fat than that but you’ve gained muscle as well – which is why your composition is changing regardless of the number.

Cleaning out my closet was a great feeling – I tried on so many things that either fell off or actually fit – that rarely happens! I’ve got these jeans that I wore when I was 16, they are men’s Wrangler’s brand from the 80’s (I used to steal my Dad’s jeans all the time). I loved those jeans and have kept them as a reminder of just how awesome I actually was at a time that I didn’t realize it. So anyways – I tried them on and I could actually get them on, not quite over my thighs but a lot further than I can remember! They are hideous pants, I painted daisies along the side seams and am embarrassed to say I wore them in public all of the time (I was an oddball – black and white striped tights one day and painted daisy jeans the next!) and would not wear them now but I’m still holding onto them as a gauge.

I too love the gym; I never thought I’d say that. I love doing my intervals and soon I plan to add some weight machines to help slimline my shape.

That’s about it for me, nothing new or exciting happening right now. Have a great day!

E: 30 min cardio/interval
B: eggs
L: shake
D: chuck eye

Good morning, Meg.

I have to admit, those jeans sound hideous, but a good gauge. Please, promise me you will never wear them outside your own bedroom!

It's going to be hot here today, so will spend the day hiding inside or out in the little blow up pool. 97 for our high today....whew!

Nothing much happening here. Just more of the same. Enjoy your Wednesday!

E - gym
B - coffee
L - salad
D - steak

Good morning!

I promise to never wear those jeans in public, ever again! I just want them to come close to fitting, I know they won't ever fit the same but close - that's all I want.

Not much going on here - my daughter finally comes home today! Got a great workout in this morning. That's about it.

Have a great day!

E: 30 min cardio/interval
B: eggs
L: shake
D: mexican

Happy Thursday! I bet you will be happy to see your daughter! So much for the peace and quiet, eh?

I spent yesterday taking care of a sick little girl but she seems to be back on her feet today. Up 2 hours early and is going full steam. Her and her mama leave tomorrow afternoon for over a week. They are going to Washington to visit my parents, her sisters and niece, my brother, etc. It will be fun for them and some quiet time for me. My SIL is already sad about them leaving, but he's on his own the minute they get on the plane. No cooking, cleaning or anything else (allegedly) until right before they get back. I am hoping to finish my Peace Corp medical stuff while they are gone and get in a hike or two during the week.

I hope you have a great day and enjoy your daughter tonight!

E - gym 2 hours
B - coffee, egg
L - salad
D - burger patty and salad.

Good Friday Morning!

It sounds like you should have a quiet week coming up! Enjoy it.

So for this week, I am down another 3 lbs, and - 1/2 inch in my hips and - 1/4 inch in my thighs!!! This morning though, I am wiped out and will take the day off from exercise.

No plans for the weekend, just relaxing. Take care, enjoy your "break" and I'll be back to check in on Monday!

E: none today, 30 min cardio/interval on Sat./Sun
B: eggs
L: shake
D: burgers
(this meal likely to repeat all weekend because I am lazy and its easy)
