Morning!

Meekness: Glad to have you here!

Big Red: So glad the weight keeps coming off for you. . .especially after you had such a stall. KUTGW! You had asked about protein shakes, and Paris has such a nice "shake post" (thanks for reposting those, Judy!!) I just wanted to add my own variations to the list. . .

I use my shakes mainly as a meal replacement, but sometimes I'll make a small one in the evening to kill that craving for sweets. Here's my usual, of late:

1/2 c Almond Breeze (I don't like heavy cream or water in my shakes)
2T h&h
2 oz cream cheese
1/4 egg beaters
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I got Nectar powder at the Vitamin Shoppe on sale this week. . .it's 0 carbs and 0 fat per scoop. . .very tasty!)
1/2 tsp dutch cocoa powder
splash of DaVinci's (usually hazelnut)
3 ice cubes
if I'm feeling frisky, I sometimes will add 1/2 tsp jello cheesecake flavored powder. Mmmmmmm. . .

That recipe will fill me up full! I could probably leave out the the h&h or the egg beaters and it would still be just as good, but I think I'm afraid of the shake being TOO thick. Anyway, that's my version.

Antigone: Yes! I use the yocheese in place of the Fage. . .it has that same kind of tartness as the Fage. But I agree, much cheaper! Also, if I only want 1/4 cup, that's all I scoop out. . .with the Fage you always eat it all, b/c it's a "single-serving."

Eigna: That would be a WONDERFUL reason to stay strict. . .do you think I could fit into one of your suitcases?

As for me, I'm down .2 this morning. Yesterday I had my usual coffee, then a protein shake mid-morning, lunch was a slice of spinach lasagne, 2 HB for a snack. . .but then for dinner we went to Applebee's. I ate on-plan (bunless burger and loaded broccoli), but it was so much food! I was afraid I would have a gain this morning. Happy to see a move in the RIGHT direction!

We got dumped with a bunch of snow last night, and I see that it's snowing again already this morning. The boys have been out playing in it since about 7:30! They're going to be little ice-pops by lunchtime. . .if they last that long!! I better go check on my hot-chocolate supply!!

Have a great on-plan day, everyone!!

WCBL

How much is a big tub of plain full-fat yogurt? And what brand works best?

I buy the Dannon (check the label to be sure it doesn't say lowfat or nonfat) in the 32 ounce container. I pay $2.16 at Super-WalMart. I don't know if that's what "works best", but it's the only kind I've used and I like it!.

Thank you! I am excited to make my yocheese. Do you eat it plain? Oh and since this is an M/E thread, when do you eat it?

Good Morning Ladies!!

Thanks for welcoming us newbies!! I did ME before, but with summer coming around I am anxious about getting the rest of this weight off.

I have a question...

The shake recipes sound wonderful! I love protein shakes. Are you drinking them while you are on ME? Or just when you return to Atkins?

Antigone, I used to eat yocheese too! Loved it!! It did wonders for the other newbie Meek..she used to make a batch everyday. It helped her reach her goal.

Thanks...have a wonderful day.

Oh, the Almond Breeze sounds yummy. I wonder if you can find it the stores instead of ordering it from Netrition? Anybody know? Thanks!

Thanks again
If they don't have the EAS, try to find one that is 100% Whey and check the carbs. Some of them are high carb. I think there is even a high carb EAS one so be careful. Per scoop, mine has 2 g carbs; 23 g protein; 120 calories. It comes in a purple (6 lb) bag . I pay around $28 for it, which is cheap. Do you have any grocery clubs? Costco probably sells it too if you have one.

Here's what it looks like:

You could do an online search.... I did find it at amazon.com. but it costs more than at Sam's. Amazon.com: eas protein powder

I would imagine there are quite a few places that sell it. Health food and vitamin stores, but that will be more expensive too. Although, when you consider it is being used as a meal replacement, even at $36 it's cheap since there are 90 scoops in a 6 lb bag. I do use 1 and 1/2 scoops per shake, but that's still 60 meals. At $36 that's only 60 cents for a shake with 1.5 scoops. Can't get any other protein that cheap.

Well, I had a little oatmeal this a.m. but I don't consider it bad...I just call it extra fiber! I have to hold myself accountable from now on!! NO EXCUSES! I am a week behind now in my goal date and that is unacceptable...ME now until goal!!

I don't know where you are, but I buy mine at Wegmans for 2.39 a carton. I drink shakes as a meal replacement for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner.

Antigone: I know this thread is the M/E Challenge, but I found myself so easily tempted by no-no type treats. . .and yocheese is like a treat for me. I have used it as a dessert after dinner if I'm really craving sweets, or I've used it mid-morning as my breakfast. Also, I like the added benefit of the live cultures in it. I don't eat it plain. I have been adding 2 chopped frozen strawberries, a little h&h and a dribble of vanilla DaVinci's. I have added about 1/2 tsp SF cheesecake jello powder, which is delicious, but I need to save that for just once in a while. I don't want to get into the habit of having it everyday, or before you know it I'll be making and eating it by the boxful! I have also made it with crushed slivered almonds, a little h&h and some DaVincis. If you do a search for yocheese on the board, you'll find a ton a threads with lots of tasty ideas.

See you guys later!!

I woke early today with the time change. Forgot to weigh in since DH was still sleeping and didn't want to turn lights on so I'll weigh tomorrow. Going to go to the office and catch up on work today. Last week was nuts and I had a lot undone by Friday evening.

Have a great day all.

Having a great day. Am very full from a large bowl of soup for lunch. I love soup for my plan because it is so filling and has so many possibilities! I also prefer having my large meal at lunch so I can burn it off the rest of the day.

Ok, had a very hungry trucker brunch. 2 eggs scrambled in Pam, three thick slices of bacon, a chicken breast and 4 small sausage patties! I am now so seriously full. Oh plus two cups of black coffee with a bit of coconut oil each.

I had a great on-plan day yesterday. . .until my DH's cousin came home for a visit before heading off to Alaska for his internship. . .Anyway, DH said, "why don't we let Matt choose the restaurant." Usually that's no problem for me, unless the restaurant is Chinese. Guess where we ended up?!? Grrr. . . It was a Chinese buffet place, so I tried to be very choosy about what I put on my plate. Tried to stay as plain as possible (though I did endulge in 2 1/2-inch squares of jello and a grape for dessert. )

The damage? I'm up a whole pound this morning. . .maybe more, as I weighed in much later than usual this a.m. I am so disappointed in that.

So, today I've had 3 HB eggs and a protein shake. . .I've got the munchies, though, so I'm hoping I can keep them at bay. I'm making up a batch of herion wings now. . .hopefully they satisfy that urge to munch. I'm making a whole 4-pound bag! DH went out of town to Atlanta this a.m., so all the LC fare I make between now and then is safe from being gobbled up before I get a chance to enjoy it!

Have a great day, everyone!

[COLOR="Navy"]good morning everyone

well it seems like there are a few of us that have struggled over the weekend well you can add my name to that list I kind of over did it on some cheese and crackers, but on the flip side I also went to the gym and worked my but off hard for 45 min. I still haven't weighed in as TOM is here and my official weigh in day will be Friday. Lots of people at work see me working out ..... OK they all think i am nuts working out at 3am but hey..... and a few have commented that I am losing so I am happy about that one, i just hope that the scale and I are talking on Friday and that we are on nice terms with each other lol
For all those asking about the shakes I also use them on M/E as a meal replacement when ever I find the need to use one

Hope everyone has a good weekend and a good low carb Monday.

Good Afternoon All!!

I am heading to make me a yummy protein shake!! Wish me luck!

Andrea, Chinese restaurants are the worst. Everything is just about marinated in sugar! The pound will be back off in no time!

Antigone, that was a huge brunch, but the good thing is it was all legal!

Lynn, I love soup too! My favs are broccoli and clam chowder!

Well, the heroin wings came out just fine. . .I think I'll ix-nay the oregano next time. They tasted a little too *Italian* for my liking. But I still had 6-7 of them. I was thinking that I'd have a small shake for dinner, but I'm really still pretty full. I may just call it a day on food and just drink fluids the rest of the evening. I don't really feel like drinking anything, though, b/c of feeling so full. I know I need to, though, b/c I haven't had enough today.

I still have papers to grade, or I'd be in bed the second the sun went down tonight. Can't be the time change, can it? If that was the case, wouldn't I feel more wide awake? I dunno. . .makes no diff.

I did put a few wings in a snap-top container already for lunch tomorrow, and I mixed up my yocheese (w/ some h&h and some Jay Robb tropical dreamsicle protein powder---WOW, delicious!). That way I don't have to fool around in the morning getting my lunch together along with both boys.

That's all for now! Have a great night!

Hi all,

Thanks for all the great ideas on the protein shakes.
I did look at some plain yogurt at the store to see if I wanted to mix some protein powder in it. WOW!!! There is a lot of sugar in plain yogurt. I think I will be skipping that one.
What is yocheese?
Is that something legal on induction or M/E?

My day went well. I had a group horse ride today. It is a fund raiser for our horse club. It is the Chili Ride. It is chilly riding this time of year and we serve chili at the ride. I planned ahead and made some ham roll-ups and took them to eat. I drank 3 diet cokes ...ugh, that bloated me. I am not a pop drinker.....
When I got home, I started drinking my water.....boy was that good and I really needed it...
Well, I need to get back out and get the rest of the yard work done before it gets dark on me,
I will check in later.....

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Can I join you guys on Meat & Egg? I recently got engaged and need to lose some weight before looking for a dress!

What is the usual weight loss per week?

Thanks!
