I was DOWN another 0.8 of a pound this morning. Not as much as yesterday, but that's OK. It WAS down...and I ate a little more than usual yesterday. Had a can of sardines for a snack...and I had shrimp chowder with my meatloaf instead of the salad. Will have another on-plan day today.

Gotta run...KUTGW...will come back later...

Hi guys. Work is so busy and this week I am being sent to another base for training. Sorry it has been so long. Working, taking my online course work and life have kept me off the computer. I will try to do better.

Checking in. . .don't want you all to think I've gone AWOL again.

Did I read somewhere that you may see the scale go up after a heavy workout? The reason I ask is that I worked out yesterday (on the company dime, I may add. . .we had a wellness day and got to do all sorts of fun healthy things. . .but I digress. . .) for the first time in months! I am super sore today, but the scale was UP this morning, kind of unexpectedly.

So I guess I'm looking for someone to validate my (mis)perception about why my scale went up today.

You guys are the best!

I am fighting a stomach bug since yesterday. Man, I feel like crud and didn't sleep much for all the times up to the bathroom. Will focus on rehydrating today.

Happy Sunday one and all! dreary weather here and it is my last day of spring break. It has been a productive week and I can actually say I am ready to get back into the routine of things!

I am up a couple of pounds......made pizza Friday night and over indulged big time. I enjoyed it and was back on track yesterday. I will be back down in no time!

Here is my new haircut.......haven't been this short in years! Not the best pic of me but I did want to share!

Congrats to all the losers and hugs to those that are struggling. Summer is right around the corner and so are a thinner you!

Have a great week ladies! KUTGW one and all!

Good morning, everyone....I was DOWN another 1.2 lbs this morning!!

Andrea...Yes, that can happen quite easily, but it's NOT fat. When the muscles are overworked they can (and usually do) accumulate water to heal themselves (thus the higher number on the scale). Don't worry about that. Just keep up the good work and drink a lot.

Tina...Sounds like a pretty good low-carb day. You would be better off with a "real" nut when you want one, though. Peanuts are not nuts. They are really legumes (beans) and are one of the higher carb "nuts." If you like almonds, they are one of the lower ones. Walnuts are good too. Macadamia ones are pretty good, but are awfully high calorie.

Gilly... back!! Just think how much better you will feel once you get the gunk out of your system.

Lynn...Sorry to hear you have the bug. Lots of that going around here too. I've been fortunate. Haven't caught it...yet. Sure hope I don't. Drink some tea and keep us posted. Hurry up and

Have a good day, everyone...don't get discouraged. This fight is worth it...

Remember...

Tina: I second the comment Judy made about nuts. My highest recommendation would be for walnuts. They are a very healthy nut to choose. . .lots of *bang* for your carb buck, IMO.

Judy: Thanks for the validation. . .I'm still kinda sore today. *wimp*

I'm afraid my number on the scale yesterday got me down and I overindulged. . .therefore I went up again this morning. However, I'm doing a planned fast-5 day today, with wise, conscious food choices during my window (which I'm planning to open at 2:00). I won't be able to do the F5 for the next 2 days, as my schedule won't allow it. However, I will be pretty busy on Mon-Tues, and that usually helps keep my eating more controlled.

I just need to get my head back in the game. As it is, I'm at the top of my *decade*, and am afraid if I don't get things under control, I'm gonna slip out of the 150's (in the WRONG direction, mind you).

lol. . .speaking of being near the top of my *decade*, I don't think I shared with you all that it was my b-day on the 19th. I turned 37, and had hoped (when I started back on lc in June) that I would be at goal by my b-day. New goal is the end of June. We shall see. The funny part of celebrating a b-day while working at a middle school, is that the kids all try to guess how old you are. The most any of them got out of me was that I was born in the 70's. . .which means I could *technically* be 29. Woohoo!! I don't think any of them beleived that though. . .darn kids!!

Have a great day, all. I'll try to check back in later.

Thanks for sharing that, Andrea....I'm surprised they let the teacher post that since it says "English." There are so many who don't want to learn English now. When my Dad came here from Germany years ago they sure didn't have everything in German for him like they do for the Hispanics now. Pretty soon English will be our "second" language. I don't get it. We need to get back to basics in this country before we lose this country.

Kim...Didn't see your post when I posted my last one. I REALLY like that. It makes you look younger. VERY nice.

Tina...Prayers for your Dad coming his way. Where are you planning on traveling to (out of the country)? I haven't been back to Europe since 1998. The way gas prices keep climbing (and airline tickets right along with them) I wonder if I'll ever go back.

Just had a triple-chocolate protein shake. It was YUMMY...put some cinnamon in it too. Am having a Ribeye steak and a lettuce/radish/celery salad for dinner. Hoping to see some more DOWN tomorrow.

And in case you need a chuckle!!

Judy: I actually didn't get what you were saying about being surprised that teacher was allowed to hang that poster b/c of it being *in English*. I had to think about it, b/c my school district is pretty Wonder-whitebread. We may have as many as 2 ESL learners in our 6th-8th grade building (but really, I don't think we have any this year). So everyone speaks English anyway. Just down the road, however, the district is much more diversified, so I could see where that poster might give pause to some there.

Hello Ladies! ( and any lurkers )

My weight today is up one pound from Friday but that's okay. I'll call it a triumph if I can make it through a weekend with only a 1 pound gain! I caved a little on Friday night. We went out for dinner and I ordered a NY Strip with spinach. Of course they brought out a basket of warm bread and an italian dipping oil I had one small piece of bread but boy did it ever taste good. I did walk both Saturday and Sunday for 45 minutes each day. The weather here was around 45* so I took advantage of it.

Kim: Your hair looks very nice! I love the cut. You look really tan too. Were you in the sun recently? I'm craving sunshine and tan lines!

LynnP: Hope you're feeling better.

Tina: I'll be saying prayers for your dad. I didn't know that peanuts were "bad" nuts either! They're so darn good though.

Mommie22boys: When you do a 5 day fast what does that mean? I've heard of water fasts.......don't think I have the willpower though!

Judy: MMMMMMMm triple chocolate shake! My mouth is watering. I agree with you too on losing our country. When I go to the ATM machine now it asks me what language I want it in, drives me crazy!

Everyone I'm missing!

Let's have a great start to a losing week!

Good Morning everyone:

I wasn't able to post during the weekend, but have been doing some reading and some adjustments to my eating and am down almost 4 pounds since my last post....Basically, my body was freaking out, thinking I was going to deprive it once more, and I think it started hanging on to whatever it could...
So I started eating more fats, and cheese and some Flax seed oil caps, and on the first day (Friday to Sat) I dropped 0.8 of a pound...then from Sat. to Sun. I ate 1900 calories and I was DOWN 2.3 pounds! Yesterday I didn't eat as much and today I was only down 0.5 of a pound. (I'm 142.9) I haven't exercised in 3 days and my T.O.M. is here, and I'm still losing...I'll exercise today, and let you all know tomorrow how it goes...

Now, on a WAAYY off subject..since some of you brought it up, I could not help myself and have to give my opinion...
I'm going to be an ESL teacher soon and feel VERY proud of it....I COMPLETELY agree with the "Home of the free BECAUSE of the brave" and the "Reading it in English because of a veteran" idea....
but that has absolutely NOTHING to do with some hostility I felt towards Hispanics in here....
First off, we shouldn't even be talking about any race in here....second...I'm sorry if some people didn't get any help when they got here, but I don't see anything wrong with kids getting some help on an already difficult process such as changing his/her country, school, house, etc....Besides, they don't have to pay for their parents right or wrong decisions...
I'm from Puerto Rico, and since we ARE part of this beautiful country, we are taught English at our schools and are citizens etc....but I don't mind helping other Spanish speaking kids and (why not) adults. everyone who knows a second language, WHATEVER that may be, should volunteer...
We don't need to be afraid of losing "our" country just because some kids are being helped a little in their transition...those fears would be foolish, and besides, as I said before, those posters have NOTHING to do with what began to be discussed in here later...

Sorry ladies, but I HAD to speak out....I hope this subject doesn't go on an on, since we're all here (in this forum) to talk weight and with the same goals...

Hope everyone's doing great as far as weight and health is concerned...I really appreciate ALL of you and send out a big hug...

See you all later..

Take care...

Good morning...I am DOWN another 1 lb!!

Got some housework to do today....no plans to go anywhere. It's raining out so it's a good day to stay in and clean.....and maybe watch a movie or read a book later.

Today's eats will be much like yesterday.
Shake for lunch;
Hot Chocolate for an afternoon break;
Ribeye & salad for dinner.

If I need a snack, I'll have radishes & celery with Ranch or a couple of LCL (Laughing Cow Lite) cheese wedges. Either of those make a great LC/low-calorie snack.

Andrea....Count your blessings while you have them. There is a movement starting up to force teachers to learn Spanish if a certain percentage of their students are Hispanic. If they keep accommodating people who don't speak English, how do they expect them to learn it. Why should they? Recently in Oregon they fired the top guy in a fire-fighting crew because he couldn't speak Spanish...he had only one guy on his crew of 20 firefighters who spoke Spanish and couldn't speak English. I don't see why they hired the guy who couldn't speak English. I would think that would be a requirement in a job that dangerous.

Lynn...

Gracie...The most important thing when you go off-plan is to get right back on. We can't live without going off occasionally. It's only when we let an off-plan meal or day derail us completely and we give up that we are lost. KUTGW, my friend.

Tina...Congrats....that's great that you are so close to your pre-stopping smoking weight. It's all down from here.

I'd better get busy....got lots to do today!!

.................WCBL

Edit:
Angie...We were posting at the same time, so I'll add this.

I guess I offended you....I didn't mean to. I think you misunderstood me. I have NO problem with our schools teaching ESL. I have nieces and nephews who were raised in the French speaking countryside of Canada and when they came here in their early teens could not speak English. They all took ESL which is GREAT. However, the government didn't suddenly put out all their forms, etc. in French. Nor did the automated phones say, "For English, press 1, for Spanish press 2, for French press 3. Nor were their teachers told to learn French. The kids had to learn English. And, yes, ESL helped them a LOT and as I said, I think that is a good, necessary program. However, I don't think that the teacher in the mainstream classroom should be forced to learn Spanish to be able to continue teaching. I think that anyone who wants to live in this country (no matter where they are from) should learn English since this IS an English speaking country. At least so far.

Enough said on the subject. I certainly don't want to start a fight. I have no quarrel with anyone who comes to this country....but I do think that if they want to work here, they should learn English. JMHO.

Low carb bread and peanuts are not for everyday
I payed for it and I am back to basic fat and protein.
Will add in walking... and just be more active. I miss the swimming pool at the hotel. I should have packed it into my suitcase.

Different subject and I hope nobody minds.

I was born in Germany, raised and educated.
When I moved here ( USA) with my dh who by the way is from here, I could not understand much English. That was 15 years ago. I was scared. Learning came pretty fast because I HAD to. So my opinion is learn English or go back.
I was for the longest time against learning any Spanish but will teach my kids Spanish anyway next school year. It is great to know a lot of languages.

Ok, this is the last I'm going to post about this, no matter what anyone else posts....
Judy: yes, your first post was perceived by me as being a little racist...I probably misunderstood, since this latest post explains itself a lot better...
I repeat, TOO BAD if there isn't any more help for French, or Chinese, or Italian, or whatever other language speaking people...I agree, it should be KEPT as just some HELP... That doesn't mean they won't learn English...their peers will certainly take care of that...I myself made sure my son learned Spanish FIRST, since I KNEW he would learn English with all of his friends at school...and I sent him to the completely English speaking class, and nevertheless, he's in top of the class as far as grades and everything...and with only 5 years speaks as well as any of you and me do, the difference is he speaks 2 languages fluently at this short age.
I DO NOT think this country will be forced to speak any other language...businesses are just making it easier for their clients, after all, they're after the money...
As far as teachers are concerned, I don't think they'll be forced to learn Spanish either...but they'll definitely have less opportunities in the long run if things go on this way...
On the other hand, businesses cannot adopt a policy of "Learn English or go back" because that would be a disaster to this country, so that way of thinking should be kept as an INDIVIDUAL opinion, NOT a reality (or a sensible one for that matter)...no matter who agrees with it or not....
Lastly, we shouldn't have even started this in the first place, as I said, this is a weight forum, any other opinions as far as political and religious views, however innocent they may seem, might offend someone else...
I certainly would be VERY sad if I had to leave because of feeling like an "invader" or "outsider", so it would be GREAT if we all just kept on being sensible and respectful "friends" on this weight loss journey...

Btw, this morning I forgot to mention I limited my Splenda intake to just 4 teaspoons per DAY....and I think that helped a lot, I was abusing it I guess...in shakes, in muffins, in 3 or 4 cups of coffee....and I read somewhere that a cup of Splenda might have as much as 24 carbs...not sure if it's true, but just to be on the safe side I'm abstaining from it and losing...Maybe this will help anyone with the same issues..
Wenig: you look BEAUTIFUL in that avatar...
and again I apologize to EVERYONE for going off subject earlier...I'll keep my promise of not posting about it again.

WOE: Just trying to cut down on my carb intake
Start Date: Seems like I have never stopped dieting
Hello everyone I just thought that Id jump on this language posts before it really upsets someone and put my 2 cents in. Up here in Canada we are a bilingual country everything is offered in both French and English (government forms to banking) even in the schools the children up to grade 9 must take french classes. In Quebec it is a mainly French province and there if you don't know French then you do suffer a bit as they prefer to keep their French heritage. Now in the rest of Canada as we are such a multicultural country I will say there is a lot of different languages spoken and a lot of different options from companies to help people progress/buy things or help them in their everyday lives. Its my opinion that a person or country will never lose itself over different languages that are spoken (cause lets face it both countries Canada and USA were both founded and built on immigrants that didn't mainly speak English). I can also say that if i had to move to another country and had to learn another language Id be pretty scared and would be great full for having extra help and support in that transition period.

Hope I didnt offend anyone

Wenig: you look BEAUTIFUL in that avatar...
and again I apologize to EVERYONE for going off subject earlier...I'll keep my promise of not posting about it again.

Thank you Angie. I agree with the Splenda intake. For some reason I crave more "stuff" when I add to much Splenda to the diet.
I will have to try to limit it too and see where it will take me. Let us know how it will work out for you and if it does make a difference.

I am glad we are all growing up people to have a little "conversation" where not everybody agrees with everyone. Life would be very boring if we all agree.

Angie. Sorry if I offended at all, will not "speak" of the subject ever again. On the splenda, I believe each packet has about 1 carb. So, I drink a cup of coffee in the morning and afternoon and then I drink either Crystal Light or the fake stuff pretty much most of the day. I usually drink plain water only when I'm exercising. I'm guessing that I get about 10 carbs per day from the liquids but it doesn't seem to stall me at all. I'm not sure though if you're using it for the flax muffins, etc. if that would cause a stall. Sometimes you just need to stoke your metabolism back up by adding in the lc veggies and extras. Plus you are exercising so much that you definitely need to add extra calories. The more muscle you build the more food you need to keep your body running. I'm glad to see you're losing again, it can be VERY frustrating! KUTGW

Have you tried using the liquid splenda/sugar twin it doesn't have the fillers in it ad it is 0 carbs per serving. Come summer I will use more of those kind of sugar substitutes for my shakes and summer coffee drinks to help cut the carbs

Oh and I forgot to weigh in earlier so I thought that i would add that to this post. I am up a pound today cause i had a cheat of tostidos on Friday night. Ive been good since and worked my butt off hard in the gym yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow I will be at pre cheat weight and dropping the pounds again

Hey Gracie: thanks but no offense taken...
I also drink like 80 ouces of Crystal light a day, so I'm counting those as sweetener intake, but haven't had the need to cut back, since I eat almost no other carbs during the day..
I was just needing extra calories and just feel SO good to finally be able to lose again...and best of all EATING MORE! Which is how it should be, since I enjoy food so much, I could never picture an entire life of eating 1000 calories or less!!!
I'm even weighting myself before going to bed (I know it's not recommended, but it was just for a few days) and seeing progress!
I just won't drop my guard with the fats and carbs like I did the first time I was low carbing...I'll let you all know what the scale shows tomorrow...since as I said, T.O.M is here and I know that causes lots of weight fluctuation...but it's never caused my scale to go DOWN, like it's moving now.

See you all later!

Cutepixie: I went to Walmart and for some reason they were out of it, So I'll check in the other supermarkets in the next few days, I too thought that could be a GOOD alternative, but I agree with Wenig, sometimes they just make you crave more sweets...so I'll only use them when absolutely necessary (I hope! anyway! )
But thanks so much for the tip, and good luck, tomorrow you'll probably lose that gain from the cheat....make sure you eat enough to keep you satisfied and not craving! that's the trick...These days are when I crave the most, and I'm doing pretty good so far....let's see how it goes...

Take Care!

Gracie: I am not fasting. Heck no! I couldn't go w/out food for that long, either. The Fast-5 is just limiting your eating to a 5-hour window during the day, thereby *fasting* during the rest of the day. There's a thread on here called Intermittant Fasting that has a lot of Fast-5er's in it. There's also this whole online book you can read about it. Btw, I was down 1.4 this a.m. after doing this yesterday.

Everyone: Ummmm. . .Holy Cow!. . .I totally did not mean to start anything with the whole reference to the poster in the Social Studies classroom at school. The whole gist of the poster itself is something along the lines of "go patriotism for the USA" not meant as a diss toward anyone/anything. Sorry for the controvery.

<---Should stick to yapping about her food

So far today:

L: 1/2 a rotisserie chicken (ate about 1/2 of the skin on the part I ate) w/ blue cheese dressing
S: 1 HB egg
D: Unknown as yet.

Laters!!
