Saturday Roll Call week of 4/26

May's a-coming...I only have 3 weeks left until my vacation! Getting excited with the planning, but have so much stuff going on in the meantime, I'm sure the days will fly by.

And the good news for me is down 2 more lbs., just staying on plan no matter what/no matter how boring...so I have just 3 more lbs. in 3 weeks to make my vacation goalI'm pretty sure I can do this! (Course, as soon as I get back, I'll have to be back at it to get next goal so same-old,same-old will return.)

How's everyone else doing?

Come'on Meekness, you CAN do this!

I find it helpful to break my goal down...I aim for 1 to 2 lbs. a week. That's psychologically easier for me to aim for, instead of saying I gotta lose 30 lbs, I say I gotta lose 2 lbs. this week...taking these little steps instead of focusing on the really big picture (which is ME...I have way more than 30 lbs to lose, but figure that's a nice chunk to get rid of before vacation. So I'll be not-as-big-of-a-picture on vacation!)

And, if I do lose more than 2 lbs. in a week, it's a great victory. But even if I only lose 1 or 2, I'm getting to my goal, week by week. You've got quite a few weeks left until your wedding...even 1 or 2 lbs. a week from now until then would do you good! You can do this!

How's every one else doing...guess it's Spring & everyone's getting busy!

gosh, where did everyone go? Oh well...I leave for Disney World two weeks from today (I can't Wait!) And I am just 1/2 lb. from my vacation goal...

Hope everyone else is having some success also...

Congratulations Catne!! That must feel great

I had a gain earlier in the week, but I'm back to siggy now. It is irritating to have no new loss to report. I don't think I'm going to make 34 lbs by my June 24th goal date.

I am happy to report I'm in week 4 of the Couch to 5K program. I ran two sessions of 5 minutes straight, two of 3 minutes and walked another mile and a half or so, in the sand. That is a huge deal for me and may even be better than a scale loss.

I hope everyone else has something good to report today.

Awesome exercise, Gina...running in sand...that's a great work out! I'm hoping I will be able to run (or at least jog) by the end of the summer (plantar faciitis is improving, but still pains some.) We live on a little lake, so hoping to add at least a 1/2 hour of swimming daily to my exercise biking.

Have a great weekend.

That plantar faciitis is no fun. I had/have that. Its much better now but still bothers me some. Ibuprophen and NEVER going without good shoes is the only thing that helps me. I went to an MD and a podiatrist and they didn't seem to help much. Try Privos shoes. They are cute, comfortable and supportive.

Gina, thanks for the tip on Privos shoes...I will look into them. I just recently found Spira brand (they have a metal spring built inside the heal so there's less impact damage to the foot/leg/hips, and also have a very good arch support system.) So these have really been upping the quantity of walking I can do. However, they just look like athletic shoes...the Privos I saw on line look like a lot more choices for actually stylish, fashionable shoes. I know what you mean about no barefoot...lordy, when I get up in the middle of the night & forget to kick on my crocs...get about 1/2 way to bathroom & get a good sharp pain reminder!

BTW...I MADE GOAL ON SUNDAY 5/4/2008...at least this particular challenge goal. Which I know was "30 by 5/24"...which I did make by losing 30 between 2/26 & nowl But the better news is I had a previous personal goal when I restarted on 12/29/2007...which was to lose 50 lbs. before my May vacation. I've done it...50 lbs. total since 12/29, so I'm one happy woman today. Just about danced off the scale yesterday!

Which is silly, because I've still got plenty more to lose, gosh, but at least now I know I can do it. And meanwhile, I'm going on vacation in a couple of weeks much lighter, and in way better shape, than last year.

I'm down 1.5 in the past week after no loss at all for the previous two. It has been frustrating. I keep reminding myself that I am eating right, exercising and feeling so much better than before that I should ignore the scale, but its tough.

On the other hand, if I'm doing something that's sabotaging my losses I want to figure it out and make a change.

I've been hashing it all out to myself in my journal . Reading over it I seem a bit looney, but I'm really not that obsessed all the time. I put it all out there in the journal, figure out what I can, and then resume my normal life. Coming back to it every day or two grounds and focuses me so I can do all the other things daily living requires.

This is the first time I can remember that I have had any kind of success dieting during the school year (I am a teacher). Usually I do well over vacations and it all falls apart when school starts because I can't obsess over it for hours every day. Coming here and FitDay are definately helping.

Hey, 1 1/2 lbs lost is way more better than a stall! And sounds like you're still working it pretty good. And the school year's almost over, so maybe your losing-metabolism will kick it up a notch over the summer. Seems like most people find it easier to lose in the summer.

I have 3 sisters who are all teachers...they're all counting the days! (One is a former spec ed teacher, now an elementary librarian; one is a former 4th grade teacher, now an elementary computer skills teacher & librarian; and the 3rd is an Engl. Second Language specialist. They all love their jobs, but are always very ready for the long summer break. To recharge & rejuvenate.)

21 days here

I think what I'm looking forward to the most is running in the morning. It is so nice at that time of day. I just can't do it trying to get myself and two kids to our respective schools. I run in the afternoon now and do mornings on weekends- it's so much better.

Hi All! It's Saturday.

219 for me this morning. It's nice to be finally moving again. That's 2.5 pounds this week.

I ran W4D3 C25K this morning. I can't believe how much I enjoy doing something that used to make me feel like I was going to throw up.

WTG Gina!

Awesome! Your plan is working.

I'm in "maintenance" right now...wanted to get off the very limited & stringent Stillman's Diet for week or so before we go on vacation. So I'm doing regular Atkins low carb for now (I just stall on this, but that's o.k. because I made vaca goal already.)

I'll be on the road next weekend.

Hope you're having a nice Mother's Day weekend.

Later!
