Wondering?
What TV shows from the past would you like to see brought out on DVD? I already have every episode of Soap on VCR tapes. So I would like to see Burke's Law, Dynasty, Homefront, and most of all ..... my #1 After American Bandstand in the fifties there was my sixties favorite. Peyton Place. I only missed one episode in six years. I was having a baby. ![]() Before Dallas, Dynasty or Falcon Crest, there was Peyton Place, the first prime time soap opera. Peyton Place was the springboard for many careers. Mia Farrow, Ryan O'Neill, Leslie Nielsen, Mariette Hartley, and Lana Wood (Natalie's sister). . . . . . . ![]() Rodney Harrington (Ryan O'Neal) and Allison Mackenzie (Mia Farrow) I remember a line from a TV Guide article: Tune in next time when Martin Peyton (Rodney's grandfather) finds out he is his own grandson. ![]() Go Giants! ... what an underdog. ![]() |

(But not Peyton Place) I still had a $50 gift card for Barnes and Noble so I ordered Dynasty and it came late yesterday afternoon. You know what I'll be doing today. The next one I wast in Northern Exposure. Surviving so far without a picture on my TV (I listen to the news) and without a car (Jamie took me food shopping). Life is good. I can watch DVD's on my computer. |

Rain will add to the already fallen ice and snow, which could cause flooding today,
the National Weather Service reported. The weather service Tuesday night issued a flood watch for all of Ulster and Dutchess counties from this morning through Thursday morning. It's 30*, freezing rain. I hope the gals in my family make it to work safely. Darren will drive Kim to work so I only have to worry about Tara and Wen. Hmmm, unless Darren is working a day shift for the PD. Wen works in Danbury, Connecticut ..... so she has about an hour's drive. I also heard that there were seventy accidents just in the City of Yonkers. (So far there has only been eight here.) Other than the weather most of the news in today's paper is good. Very good IMHO. ![]() Today I really will finish Dynasty Season One. (I think I have been stalling because I really don't want it to end.) I've been blogging here at this site. If you have time: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/bl...ight-loss.html . |

Hello Savvys. I'm back (briefly). Hawaii was beautiful. Had great weather. I sat in the shade and just enjoyed it. Went to Hunaema Bay for snorkeling, but that day it was overcast and chilly, so I didn't get in the water. Was very relaxing vacation. Wish I were still there.
Next week is the pool tournament in Duluth. So won't get caught up on my work as I'll only be there 2 days this week then gone again. My "procedure" went smoothly. I am healed already. Now just have to go back in 6 months and get looked at again. Got the most nasty cold on Thursday before we flew out on Sunday. Thought I was going to be more miserable on the plane than I was. That same Thursday DH tore cartilege in his right knee, so before we left had to go to the doctor for x-rays. He has to schedule surgery for that now that we're back. What a sorry bunch we were when we left! Alcohol helped ![]() DH's bday is today. He doesn't like to acknowledge it or do anything though (that is usually why we take our vacation during this week), so not sure if I can talk him into doing anything tonight after work. I do have t-bone out in case he wants to stay at home. Got to run. Have a great day Savvys. |

I'm sure Hawaii made up fior everything. Gosh I do hope you have pictures. I know I won't get there in this lifetime. ![]() Wish DH a Happy Day (just leave out the Birth part). BTW I tore the cartilage in my right knee about seven - eight years ago and decided to not have the surgery. I just have to move carefully. ... If I turn fast the knee comes apart ..... and you will here me scream at your house. ![]() Lot's of luck at the tournament. |

Interesting afternoon Monday. Accidentally locked myself, and Jasper, out of the house.
And my car doesn't work for me to go call someone. Walked through ankle deep water to my next door neighbors. Naturally no one was home. So I put Jasper in the car ... and then walked up the road to the "Boxer house". (I don't know most of the neighbors so I identify them by their animals.) It was pouring. ... And here I am knocking at this door with two boxers, a chihuahua, and two pugs barking at the top of their lungs. I'm so wet that water was running down my face (and the worst thing - I had to go to the bathroom). She gave me her phone to call Jamie. Then I went and sat in my car, soaking wet, for about fifteen minutes. ... Talk about appreciating being in your own home. I wanted to kiss the floor. ... Once again I marveled at how lucky I was.Imagine if it had been really cold out? And I had stepped out without my jacket. Yikes. . |

Sitting about ten feet in from the window typing typing typing. ![]() The two basement windows on the left is where the unheated, former garage, room is. When I basement walk I walk the length of the house. This week should be winter's last hurrah. I'm hoping it warms up for Saturday's parade. I don't want to miss Darren marching but I won't stand for a couple of hours in 35* weather. lol. |

Wow Jezzie, you must have sent some of your snow our way. Nowhere near that much. But it was a slow, messy ride home. I was going to bring Chaser home to spend the night, but in lieu of the bad roads, I called and told him we'd have to do it another night. Not sure if at 3 1/2 years old he understands.
Had a lot of fun in Duluth. What a charming city. Never been there before. I liked all the rolling, winding roads. Reminds me of pictures of San Francisco when the roads go way up and way down. I don't think I could appreciate it very much in the winter though. That looks like a very large house for just you and fur babies Jezzie!! No wonder you can power walk inside! Or, March, as you've referred to it!! Computer wasn't working for a couple of days, something with the connection. Just had to unplug it from the back, wait a few minutes and then replug it in. Now works like a champ again. Need to head into the kitchen and toss up a salad. Have a great night Savvy's. |

Good to see you back home again safe and sound.
My house is not that big relative to Darren's and Laureen's. It's 46 x 26 with a full basement. Yes, I'd love a smaller Cape Cod. But this is Home ... and here I'll stay until they carry me out or I'm no longer able to take care of myself. Sleep can be so unpredictable. I got so much accomplished yesterday. I thought I would sleep like a log for nine hours straight. Not. ..... Six and a half.Awoke to three more inches of the white powdery stuff. And it's still coming down. Three - six inches was the forecast. It's too bad for Darren. He's marching with the Police Department Color Guard for the Village St. Pat's parade this afternoon. Kim and I are going to skip this year's parade attendance. lol. . |

Is anyone else here taking the ''book class'' Oprah is conducting?
It's great. Did anyone see her new reality show? I didn't but I'm following on line. ![]() Books, TV movies, a presidential candidate and now a philanthropic reality show. Maybe everything Oprah Winfrey touches really does turn to gold. The premiere of "Oprah's Big Give" on ABC, Sunday, March 2, 2008, was seen by 15.7 million people, the biggest audience in prime-time last week for any program not named "American Idol," ( ) according to Nielsen Media Research. |

Hi All, wow look at all that snow! yikes, we've had our bouts with snow this year but thankfully it has never gotten over 5 inches on the ground before it melted. Jezzie your house looks a little like mine before we redid it when my uncle came. The remodel changed the entire front.
I've not followed Oprah's new show, am really getting a bit tired of all the reality shows. I am looking forward to the new dancing with the stars though. I am following American Idol again this year and like David Archaletta, he's just so cute, polite and can really sing for as young as he is. Well back to work, just wanted to pop on and say hi. hope you all are doing ok? Donna |

Hello Savvys.
Cold still here in MN. May be some more snow coming. Has not been bad this Winter, just cold. Dh has his surgery next week. Starting today he cannot take any pain pills or aspirin of any type. He'll be fun to live with in a couple of days I bet!! Got in the hottub tonight. Needed it. Haven't been in since the cancer was cut out. Jezzie, did you get more snow? Keep telling yourself it's almost over! I had another great night of shooting pool last night. Now if I could just carry that over to the tournament that is coming up. The theme this year is the Islands. We are "Chicks Ahoy" and are dressing like pirates (or wenches). Viv and I got together yesterday and went to a Goodwill and Savers and put our costumes together. I must say I do like them so far. I'd say we are 95% done. We'll see what the others came up with! Need to run. Talk to everyone soon. |

We got over 24 hours of rain ... on top of our already spongy soil from the rain two days before.
![]() But thankfully no flooding in the basement Two things. Please give an update on DH's surgery. And promise to take pictures of the pirates and wenches. Atty: I used to spend hour and hours trying to think of something to make this house not look like the other 100,000 raised ranches. (Exaggerating. There are only 30,000 people in my town. )But even if I had thought of one I couldn't afford it any way. It's all academic now. I'm just happy to have a roof over my head. I went to an excellent high school play yesterday. Called Urinetown. Urinetown: The Musical is an award-winning satirical comedy musical that pokes fun at capitalism, social irresponsibility, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and petty small town politics. Urinetown rejects musical theatre convention, parodying successful Broadway shows such as Les Misérables, Evita, Annie and West Side Story, and even satirizes its own significance. In reverse pantomime style, the unconventional plotline shatters audience expectations of a pleasant ending. Famous songs from the show include "Look at the Sky" and "Run, Freedom, Run!" |

Hello Savvys. How is everyone doing? Jezzie, I'll take pictures! I always do. I just haven't figured out how to share them now that yahoo photo's is no more and I haven't really played around with where they have been moved to.
Is all that rain melting all that snow you got? We are just in the beginning of a spring warm up which will also bring rain. However, tomorrow is to be rain turnng to snow. But the end is in sight and the snow won't stay for long anymore. Chase is upstairs sleeping. He wanted to come stay with Poppa. Amaiya has been running a fever and cranky (she cut a couple of new teeth). She's got a pretty full mouth of teeth there can't be much more to come. I'll let everyone know how the surgery goes. Gotta hit the showers. Have to be at work earlier than usual as Trish has a dental appt and we have probationers coming in right away and I have to set up for them (AND get Chase home first). Have a great day Savvys. |

I hope Amaiya is feeling better. So how did DH make out?
We had a very mild winter. More rain than snow this year. Global warming wacky weather. The one decent snowfall we got didn't last long. ... We did get more than our share of ice. Nothing much happening around here. Still eating too much and moving too little. At least I am eating healthily. By my standards anyway. The sat fat fans wouldn't agree. I'm thinking I will go walking next Saturday (the 23rd). At Vassar College. ... It's only about eight miles from me and my car is running ... at the moment. ![]() . |

DH's surgery went very well. He was moving around quite nicely by the second day. Not a very good patient, though. Had to get after him each hour to move his feet (pretend to push on a gas pedal) so the blood doesn't pool in the bottom of the legs and cause blood clots. Once people are up and moving, no problem. He was supposed to be on his crutches for the first couple of days as after a surgery you have the swelling and if he were to step down with that leg, could blow the sutures out. Anyway not at all graceful with his crutches and the next day when I took him in to the surgical center to have him unwrapped and looked at they asked him if he could walk without them, he said yes, and they said "Good. Give me those before you kill yourself!!" ROFL (Told him so)
But he will be going back to work on Saturday. Leg was kindof bothering him yesterday and today, I imagine that since I'm not home he's been overdoing it. Bringing in the firewood, running the snow blower, etc. (We got dumped on by about 5 inches of snow...then the next day 40 degrees so it is all gone.) Friday we are going to get those 5 inches of snow back and then Saturday the warm weather. So, obviously the snow doesn't stay long now. Amaiya is doing better, but then Chase came down with it. It just never ends with kids. DH has supper about ready, I have to run. Have a great day Savvys. Jezzie, do we need to build you an ark? |

Sunday...going over to our friends for Easter dinner. I get to bring the dinner rolls!! I asked to bring dessert - I wanted to make a low carb cheesecake (love the beaches recipes) - but that was already taken.
What are you doing for Easter Jezzie? Going to DD's? DS's and Wens? Kiran's house? Staying home and kicking back.... More snow on the way, then melting right away! Perfect way to get snow. Went through that bout with our Dalmation "Shiloh" when she was gimping along and not using one of her back legs. Trip to the vet and a couple of hundred dollars later and found out she had arthritis. Now the black lab "Shadow" is not walking well and I'm sure he has bad arthritis too. I bet with the weather changing there is a pressure system going through. My arms ACHED so bad today. It is sad to see the fur babies getting older (like us) and having problems. I just can't bear to think about when they may not be here. On that happy note. I gotta run. HAPPY EASTER SAVVY'S!!! Jezzie, we need to start sharing our good low carb recipes again. I've been doing really good sticking to it, haven't given up my cocktails though. I have been losing about 3 pounds a week so far. Next week will be tough. Now that I have diabetes (I can tell by how shaky I get), it makes things different. Again, you don't eat really well at those pool events. I'm bringing some stuff. We are poolside as usual so that will be fun. |

Stage One (breakfast at Perkins Pancake House with Jamie) was great.
I had potato pancakes with applesauce and 2 slices of bacon. I told him my Wal* Mart experience; he told me his Lowes exchange experience. ![]() Then it was on to his trip, politics, and a cute Kiran story (via Tara). Tara was telling Laureen about something she 'doesn't like'. Kiran's new favorite expression is "me either". ... So he says to Tara "me eever". Stage two was dinner with Darren and Kim. It was us plus Kim's daughter Michelle (28). It was a simple but delicious dinner. Pork roast (heavy on the garlic), roasted small red potatoes, broccoli sautéed in garlic. Can you tell what our favorite seasoning is? (And of course I came home with a doggy, um ... I mean Grammy, bag.) Then we had to celebrate Nemo (the pug) and Lexie's (St.Bernard) birthday. ... Nemo is four and Lexie three. We all had angel cake ... including the birthday fur kids. The only problem with my current recipes is that my plan isn't low carb. I'll look through them ..... to see if any are LC appropriate. . |

Tuesday DS-43 (Jamie) and his SO (Wen) left for Africa. South Africa, Botswana,
and Zambia. No luxury vacations for this child of mine. Not surprisingly he found an environmentally conscious tour group ... and they will be sleeping in sleeping bags in a tent. There are no "hot spots' in this part of Africa so the only worry I have is the plane ride home. When Jamie hiked in New Zealand he slept in a wall-to-wall-people hut. Who snored. ![]() . |

![]() My desktop from last June ... a glimpse of what's to come. Had a nice day yesterday. In the morning I took Jasper for his free rabies shot. (At my favorite park). In the afternoon I went to another high school play. It was Beauty and the Beast. It was performed at the "other" high school in our district (in East Fishkill). I'm feeling fine this morning ..... and so I'm hoping to get a lot done in the house. |

Hello Savvys.
Jezzie, good day. Your son and I have absolutely different ideas of what a FUN vacation is!! If it doesn't involve sun, sand, foo foo drinks and being pampered and sleeping in a king size bed, I don't want anything to do with it! Had a blast at the tournament. Didn't do so well in the singles event. But took 3rd in Mixed Scotch and we took 1st in the costume contest! Didn't do to well in the team event either. Lost our first two matches and were done for the day. Had a really good time. The "naughty parrot" was a hit. Just had such a fun time I can't even begin to explain it all! Been hit with about 6 inches of snow today. Should be 50 degrees in two days though, so it won't last long. It keeps snowing, going away, snowing, going away. They are predicting 60 degrees next week so it should all be done then. Just popping in. MN Twins won the baseball opener tonight, that was fun to watch. Have a good night/day all. Back soon. |
