I sometimes end up throwing my bread substitute things out, too, Jean. And I do like real bread, but even then I usually couldn't finish a loaf before it went stale. Anyway, I think I'll get through this batch of rolls - then the trick is not to make them so often that I get bored with them.
I think I'll have a cheeseburger tonight . |

Thanks....Pear!!!
I, also, think that I read somewhere that someone had better luck starting out with a "cold" cookie sheet. My mom only has 1 cookie sheet. So, before putting in the second batch, I will clean it, and set it outside for a few. Have to run....time to take the first batch out of the oven. ![]() |

Well...guys!!!!
I learned that I can't make a double batch at one time....or I didn't whip the egg whites long enough. When I took the "batter" from the fridge to make my second batch....it was "revolsoupy" batter. I made six mounds the best that I could, and took a pie plate....sprayed it with non-stick, and poured the rest in there. If the "big" one turnes out....I will use it as a pita or something. The cooking spray kept them from sticking. They came right off of my mother's cookie sheet....and there is no teflon on hers. MMmmm...not bad. I heard that they are better, after setting. I just took one, and split it in half, and put a little of my peanut butter on it. It is pretty good. Ailuros. Did yours come out with any height to them...by using the custard dishes? Mine were pretty flat. I'm thinking that I didn't beat my egg whites long enough. There was no way that I needed to use the spoon to push the "mounds" down at all. I was lucky to get "mounds". They did get nice, and slightly browned, on both sides.

L&F, my "rolls" didn't rise very much. They were maybe 1/4" thick. You definitely need one each side for your sandwich, rather than slicing them through the middle. I think they're probably better than industrial burger buns, but not anything like as good as real homemade bread. Still, they hold the filling together, so you can use your fingers, and they'd probably be useful if you needed a packed lunch for work.

![]() ![]() ![]() I took 2 of them, put mayo on them, put a fried egg (over easy), a slice of bacon, and some cheese on one...and took the second one and put it on top.....a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Gosh....that was good...and it held up to the dippy kind of egg yolk too!!!! Can you tell that my Dad is gone? ![]() ![]() I'm eating way more than normal today!!! Hopefully, today doesn't ruin my weigh-in tomorrow!!! ![]() |

Ailuros....
I didn't have any splenda packets, as the recipe called for. So, I just dumped some of the bulk Splenda in...probably too much, but it is still alright. I just thought of another way these things would be good. When they are still warm, one could put butter, and some lowcarb syrup of some kind on them....almost like crepe/pancake???? When I go to town in a couple of hours....with the list that my mom gave me...if I have enough money...I will get the stuff to try and make the "ice cream bars"!!! These things will definately need to be a treat!!! Only 6 halfs, 3 (total) buns per batch could get costly. |

Oh...yeah!!! The big one that I made in a cake pan, came out of the pan just fine, but I used cooking spray. We'll see if it is flexible enough to use a pita. Atleast none of the batter went to waste...I can always cut it...and use it that way.

Hey...I just thought of one more thing. I heard of people using these for their pizza crusts. The one that I made in the glass pie plate would be of the perfect size for this.

Hi...guys!!!!
Just thought that I would check-in. I just got back from town--the market, and picking-up my son from school. I am making the chocolate oopsie rolls right now. They're in the oven. This time I whipped the egg whites longer....and I got "mounds". So, that must have been the problem before. Live and learn....I guess. I will let you all know how the "ice cream bars" taste later tonight...when we eat them. Now, I'm going to clean up the mess...again, and take a shower. Then, I'm going to do a load of laundry. By the time I get done with these things, it will probably be time to make supper!!! Mmmmm.....bacon cheese burgers with onions cooked in butter....and on a roll even!!!! ![]() |

Isn't it amazing how little it takes to make us happy!!! Well, I finally made it home and got everything done...Whew! I don't like to feel rushed. Every place was jammed being the last day of the month. Click, be sure to let us know how you like the ice cream sandwich. It sounds so good. I have no experience with weight loss and green tea. My daughter drinks nothing but green tea and eats healthy but has never mentioned it causing weight loss. I have researched it in the past and wasn't convinced. |

It's not fair that you always hold your parties after my bed time
![]() ![]() ![]() Maybe if you save an ice cream sandwich for my breakfast I'll feel less left out ![]() They're forecasting snow for here tomorrow . And temperatures actually going below freezing overnight . I think it's supposed to be about 40ºF so the snow probably won't be around for long. |
