I just love lavendar. It won't grow in Minnesota, but they are experimenting with a new variety that will. The only problem with it is that the essential oils wouldn't be as good.

There'd be no point if it didn't smell at all, but just for your garden, something that smelled quite good would be better than not having it. Could you grow some on the window sill?

Good Morning!!! I had a Fantastic weekend with the family. I just love it that the kids come over and want to spend time with us. I did my "Power Cooking" and then we spent the weekend, playing with the dogs, playing with Ireland (granddaughter) watching movies, playing video games and playing card games.

Just so relaxed. The Older 2 boys and their families were in and out all weekend.

I won't be around as much, I have alot of work to do around here and some at the office to do for hubby. I'll get to read more then post. So, I might not be posting as much, but I'll try.

Have a fantastic day, everyone!

2:30 .

The smoked fish smelt a bit off, so I threw it out and had a small slice of black pudding (aka blood sausage) with a dollop of mustard hollandaise (there was a bit of leftover hollondaise in the fridge). I've been thinking, and it's not exactly the same, but the closest thing I've had to this bread cheese is grilled halloumi cheese.

O.K.!!! I'll get it right one of these days. So, you're six hours ahead of me...not seven.

Dang!!!! I think that the smoked fish/cream cheese combo on the bread---fried in butter...would've been a nice treat.

I've never heard of halloumi cheese???!!!

Morning gals,

We have 6" of snow on the ground, all the schools are closed and hubby is trying to make it home through the unplowed roads. He took his little car last night and not the 4x4. We didnt think it would snow until tonight.

I hope he makes it home safe.

Ailuros....

Is halloumi cheese a regional cheese? The spelling reminds me of Finnish, but I'm not an expert at the language....just have had a small amount of exposure of it from a friend.

His little Jetta plowed the roads since the snow was so high We're supposed to get a bunch more snow tonight.

He said on one of the steep hills, a 4x4 chained up was in the ditch. He has no idea how he made it home safely.

Halloumi cheese come from Cyprus...but, many greek recipes seem to use it.

Here's a picture of some fried halloumi cheese:

Looks tasty!!! They say it's flavor is sorta' like a mixture of goudda and mozzarella. It seems to hold it's shape well when cooked.

Halloumi cheese comes from Cyprus. The same style of cheese appears in Greece, and all around the Eastern end of the Mediterranean. It's an unusual texture - it squeaks on your teeth when you eat it, and you can grill it to brown the outside without it melting and running all over the place.

Pear - take care of yourselves in the snow and ice!

I'm just starting to cook dinner. Roast guinea fowl, and savoy cabbage with cream and juniper . I do like this "diet" .
