Today we're hanging out at home, hubby needs his sleep, he's still on night shift.

Tonight we have my company's annual party. Its supposed to snow.

And snow tomorrow, snow monday, snow tuesday, and snow wednesday. I keep hearing talk of global warming, I'm thinking we're heading for global cooling. We dont normally have this much snow in the winter. Last winter was like this, but all the years before we had a couple snow events, done, some years we didnt have any.

I weighed again after my shower and the scale said 210.0 but I got glimpses of 209 before it made up its mind.

Sorry your history class stinks, Click. DD is also taking history online from the community college. I dont think she likes it much either. Can they even make history exciting?

WOMEN'S REVENGE

'Cash, check or charge?' I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet , Inoticed a remote control for a television set in her purse. 'So, do you always carry your TV remote?' I asked. 'No,' she replied, 'but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.'

UNDERSTANDING WOMEN
(A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)

I know I'm not going to understand women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root, and still be afraid of a spider.

MARRIAGE SEMINAR
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Cindy listened to the instructor, 'It is essential that husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes.' He addressed the man, 'Can you name your wife's favorite flower?' Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, 'It's Pillsbury, isn't it?

CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS
A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up & down the aisles. The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife. She directs him down the correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter. She says, confused, 'Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife?

He answers, 'You see, it's like this, yesterday, I sent my wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers; cause it's sooo-ooo--oo-ooo much cheaper.
So, I figure if I have to roll my own .......... so does she.

WIFE VS. HUSBAND

A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word.
An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position.
As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, 'Relatives of yours?'
'Yep,' the wife replied, 'in-laws.'

________________________________

WORDS

A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day...
30,000 to a man's 15,000.
The wife replied, 'The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men...
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, 'What?'

CREATION

A man said to his wife one day, 'I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time. '
The wiferesponded, 'Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!

WHO DOES WHAT

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, 'You should do it because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee.

The husband said, 'You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.' Wife replies, 'No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.' Husband replies, 'I can't believe that, show me.' So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says
'HEBREWS'

The Silent Treatment

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, 'Please wake me at 5:00 AM.' He left it where he knew she would find it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, 'It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.' Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

Subject: computers-male or female?

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

"House" for instance, is feminine: "la casa."

"Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz."

A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender
("la computadora"), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

( THIS GETS BETTER !)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ("el computador"), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer,
you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

MomToEli, Ailuros is the Greek name for the Egyptian cat goddess, Bast (when you join a site with tens of thousands of names already taken, you have to do that sort of thing ). Ohhhh...that's right...your company party is tonight!!! Are you guys going? Or...too much snow? Do you think that you will find something safe to eat there?

About the snow...and global warming. It seems that the colder it was in Minnesota, the less snow we'd get. I hear that they are getting more snow this year, than they have in many years. I know that here, in Northern Indiana, we are getting more snow than has fell in years also. It hasn't been real cold though. I mean we've had a day or two...here and there...but...no REAL LONG cold snaps. I'm not complaining!!! I just wonder if the slightly warmer climate would induce more snow? By the way...there still isn't as much snow as when I was a kid.

I find history interesting to see. I enjoyed myself, very much, while visiting all of the historical places in the New England States. I think that my textbook, along with many other History Textbooks, could be more interesting if written differently. I keep falling asleep while reading... !!!!

Here's a recipe using Spaghetti Squash. I'm really excited to try it.

Strands of spaghetti squash are tossed with a cooked mixture of Italian sausage, onion, sweet peppers and spaghetti sauce. The mixture is piled back into the squash shells and sprinkled with grated cheese to bake.

Ingredients:
  • 1, 3- to 4-lb. spaghetti squash
  • 16 oz. Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or dried Italian seasoning1/2 cup grated romano cheese
Method

Cut squash in half lengthwise, remove seeds. Place squash, cut side up, in a microwave-safe dish with 1/4 cup water. Cover with vented microwave-safe plastic wrap; cook on high for 7-10 minutes, depending on size. Add more cooking, 1 minute at a time, if necessary. Let stand 5 minutes. With fork "comb" out strands. Do not discard shell. Saute sausage, bell peppers, onion, garlic in a large skillet over medium-high heat until sausage browns and vegetables are tender. Mix in spaghetti sauce and dried oregano or Italian spices. Mix squash strands with sausage mixture. Spoon filling into squash shells. Place filled squash shells on baking sheet. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake uncovered until heated through, about 20 minutes.

Number of servings: 4

This would be really good with a homemade alfredo sauce...

Tonight I will probably have a slab of meat, they usually have something like that in the buffet.

Well, the wash machine is broken, not draining properly therefore not spinning... and its only a couple years old. Luckily I still have my centrifuge to spin the water out of the clothes, so laundry will not pile up.

We just watched Garth Brook's concert from last night, wow, it was good. Did any of you watch it?

MMMmmmm....that would be good with alfredo sauce. Heck...any kinda' sauce sounds good to me. (Haven't had any in soooo long!!!) I'm, also, excited to try making gravy with xanthum gum, or something legal.

MMMmmmmmm.....meat, mock mashed potatos....and gravy!!!! *drool*

So, you are going tonight then? I'm glad that the snow won't keep you from going. Ohhh...a buffet. YUM!!!! Their should be meat, some salad, and some veggies that you could eat.

Sorry about your washer!!!! Is it still under warranty?

No...I didn't see Garth Brook last night.

No, its probably a month or two out of warranty, of course. Now I wonder if I should have bought the extended warranty

Its pouring rain right now, but they expect it to switch to snow later this afternoon/evening.

DD's grandma is 89 and we just found out a few minutes ago she had a stroke while they were out eating at a restaurant. They called 911 and she was taken to the hospital and released. She needs further testing. It sounds like a stroke to us, but it could be something else.

DD is pretty worried about her. He always said that no one could keep him in Holland except his oma. If she said not to go to america, he wouldn't have. They are really close. She has come to visit many times.

She is the one that used to smuggle resistance newspapers in the baby buggy during WW2. Her husband was taken to a concentration camp, and escaped but it took him two years to make it back home. They had thought he was dead. One day he showed up at the door and she didnt know who he was. He didnt even know he had a son until then.
