I hope that Mamma Jean gets to sit down and relax a bit tonight. *sigh*

Funeral stuff sure does wear a person down.

Hello Again,

Just another drive-by as I move on toward my next project.

I have to go over to another friend/co-worker's home tonight and help her with her puter. She does good to turn it on every week and can never remember what to do after that... I've made lists for her but she loses them. I spent a good 1 1/2 hr. with her on the ph last night and figured it would be easier to go over there tonight.

I was noticing all of the help you were giving to Click. What a great bunch of supporters we have here.

Cheryl, so sorry about your friend but happy that your hubby received good news.

MomToEli, it was great to see you stop by. I think we are the strangers here lately.

Hippiegirl, I can only imagine how much fun you are having...

Hopefully I won't be gone too late tonight but you never know! I do miss all the fun...I feel I missed the party!

Jean

Yes, it sure does, both mentally and physically. We have a good supportive group of friends, though, and that helps. It was like a wake yesterday with everyone sharing memories, I think it really helped.

Nite nite, Ailuros. Tomorrow will be a crazy day but, hopefully, Sunday will be more restful and I can get on the puter more. I look forward to seeing you soon.

About nine of us from work met yesterday for lunch. Linda's friends. We spent several hours together as the retirees stayed and the employees came and went on their lunch hour. Her service will be tomorrow at noon.

Lots of phone calls and that sort of thing plus my own family's needs (Amanda's play) have me a bit overwhelmed.

When I need comic relief, I know just where to come, that is if I can work it in... Y'all are amazing. Thanks for the humor, it has helped me tremendously.

Gotta run my Sr. friend for his morning cuppa and will try to get back later.

Over time you can see if there's a trend rather than just the usual up and down. Some people find the once a month thing less stressful, some do a weekly average. Somewhere along the way you'll work out what suits you best.

Some people don't weigh themselves at all, but just go by the fit of their clothes. I can very easily tell myself that I'm wearing all my loosest clothes because that's the colour I want today - I can do all kinds of denial, so I like the irrefutable number on the scale to give me a check. Best of all would be if I could be as I was when I was 20, and eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight , then I wouldn't need to bother with weighing or measuring at all, but that doesn't seem to work any more .
I never weighed myself as I was losing (heck, not even before I started). When I got to goal (within about 8lbs) I started weighing myself. I now do it daily and for the same reasons you do.

I heard from my doctor that it's not what you ate the day before it's what you ate 3 days ago..... Don't know if that's true - but that's what he said.

That is why my husband won't let me go into the "computer lessons for seniors" in our neighborhood. I thought it would be a great little business for me. So many seniors don't know a thing about computers and their kids are constantly telling them to get one.

He said he could just see it now ...... I'd get home and the phone would start ringing. They would say "you never taught me that, etc., etc." I paid you $? an hour and I learned nothing. I have that experience with my mother - I write notes on how to insert, cut/paste, etc. and she'll say "you never taught me that"....

You can eat too much. It will then even out over the next few days. Watching my weight on the scales, I know this. It's when It starts to get higher then that little "gain" that I realize I have to really look at what I have been eating.

As you go up the carb ladder, the thing that gets to most people is adding something In to their diet and thinking they can have it EVERY day. That's just not true. Also, all carbs are not created equal. Different ones effect people differently. Being at goal, I mainly keep a "clean" low carb with a few "add ins" during the week.

Let's say someone wants to add in low carb pita bread, at only 4 carbs a pita. That should be no problem, right? Well, for me? The first day would be fine. The second day, I'm "UP" a little...The 3rd day, cravings are starting to happen and my weight starts to go up (not just a fluctuation). Now, logic would say "It's only 4 carbs" but in reality...What kind of carbs are in there? See my point? So, to be safe...I have it about once a week. Tonight we had pita pizza and a salad. Tomorrow, I will have a "clean" low carb day.

It's not just the amount of carbs, but the types of carbs. You then find out for yourself which carbs you can have every day, and which ones you can have only once in awhile. You also realize how they effect you. Some won't cause to to gain weight, but they will raise your hunger and cravings. For these types of foods, I just know I need to make sure that I "Up" my fat at my next meal.

In the Summer time I eat differently. I busy and on the go. I eat alot of raw veggies and I will have Fruit, Every day. I also will have grilled meats.

I have also learned to "adjust" for the foods I love that are seasonal. Like Corn on the Cob. I might have a meal of Corn on the Cob, sliced tomatoes and onions (garden fresh) for dinner. I then jump right back the next day into clean low carb. I don't have any weight gain from it.

As I told you...It's a Journey and one where we learn about ourselves. I eat fruit in the summer time also.

It's just keeping an eye on your body's responces and adjusting to them.
That's all.

There are some things that I just don't eat. The reactions (I have learned) are just to GREAT. Pie, bread, cake and Ice cream (full starch and sugar). I would bloat, feel sick, tired and then have uncontrollable cravings. I have found that it's just not worth it. 2 minutes of eating something like that and then struggling for a week to get back on track.

This is when I use the "low Carb Treats" or baked goods. But, I still can't eat them all the time. Remember me making that cake? First day, no reaction. 2nd day, a little more "hungry" and by the 3rd day (and these are just serving sizes) I had gained a couple of pounds. That's something that you also have to keep in mind.

Everyone is different. That's why we each have to find out about our bodies.

Yes...I know...Tooter!!! I understand all that you are saying. I was just floored at what Pear thought 4 strawberries did....and I guess that, even though I am losing weight...I just wanted some reassurance....from some one that...even though this is a woe for life...that I wasn't setting myself up for NEVER eating something as simple as a strawberry, orange, a low carb pita or pasta. I know that you can eat these things...not every day...but on occassion. But, like you said...everyone is different. To be honest...I'm scared to start learning what my body can handle, as it doesn't seem to like anything that I do. I may be losing at a slow, steady pace...but it's been resisting all of the way. So, climbing the ladder, and then maintaining....is scary to me.

Cheryl, you have a very astute husband! He really hit the nail on the head.

My friend is only 64 and has such a problem with short term memory that I feel I have to cover my back to help her. We did a defrag and the next time she did on-line banking, her bank says it's time to change your password and she is convinced it is something we did.

I insisted that she call her bank so they could tell her it was routine. I also put things in her favorites and saved mail so I can show the reference later on what we did and the instructions. If I had a dollar for every time I explained how to access her saved mail, I could take a cruise.

Is your husband always so wise?
