Lunchtime... the microwave oven is broken at work so I went out and got a chef's salad at the deli. It was good. Boy was it cold outside... brrr!

We only have BBQ and Regular pork rinds here.

The recipes look really good, Click, thanks for sharing.

I think the four strawberries I ate yesterday were 8oz each from the weight I gained last night...

I guess that is the thing that I don't understand about the steps.

How in the world does eating something...like strawberries...and only 4 of them...put weight on? How will we ever 'add' anything...besides more veggies...without gaining?

Exercising like mad people? That's the only way that I can think of to ever 'add' anything in. (Besides more veggies.) To be honest...I've been missing fruit lately. So...I drank a tangerine 'Diet Rite' today. It took care of the taste for fruit for now.

I mean....is this why some people fail at this woe? Do they try working the ladder, and gain weight....and then, rather than starting over...just quit, and go back to their old ways?

I thought that they looked REALLY good. Cleo posted them...she's the one who made the rolls that I am excited to try.

I have dredged a whole boneless, skinless breast in egg, and shook in baggie with parmesan and pork rind crumbs...and it was good. (Kinda' like chicken parmesan.)

I REALLY think that the cheese sticks would be yummy!!!!

Weight goes up and down by a couple of pounds from day to day. It's perfectly normal, and if you try to work out the reason for it every day you'll drive yourself round the bend and leave yourself with nothing to eat. Hormonal changes can do it, any minor infection or allergy, slightly sore muscles from exercise... and a million other things. There's nothing to panic about, and it doesn't mean you can't eat strawberries. Unless it happens consistently every time you have strawberries, it could just be a coincidence. Don't Panic!

Thanks, Ailuros!!!!

Can you tell...that I am just 'naturally' a panic stricken person? I worry about this, and worry about that....I don't know....I guess that I was looking into the future...and was hoping to not get thrown into the situation of never enjoying something as simple as a bite out of an apple again....or a taste of an orange segment, etc...

Is this why some people who have been maintaining for a LONG period of time only weigh themselves once/month?

You need to find new ways. If you go back to the old ways, you will surely gain it back. And it does come back very easily if you are careless.

I have never gained it all back or lost my goal clothing size, but I have been up 15 or so.. so..

That's right. I actually prefer to weigh myself daily, because otherwise I worry about whether the one time each month is on the top of the normal range or the bottom - also, I forget or avoid doing it, and allow my weight to creep up without checking, so I have a piece of graph paper in the bathroom cupboard, and every morning I weigh myself and mark it on the graph. Over time you can see if there's a trend rather than just the usual up and down. Some people find the once a month thing less stressful, some do a weekly average. Somewhere along the way you'll work out what suits you best.

Some people don't weigh themselves at all, but just go by the fit of their clothes. I can very easily tell myself that I'm wearing all my loosest clothes because that's the colour I want today - I can do all kinds of denial, so I like the irrefutable number on the scale to give me a check. Best of all would be if I could be as I was when I was 20, and eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight , then I wouldn't need to bother with weighing or measuring at all, but that doesn't seem to work any more .

My weight can vary 5 pounds in 24 hours depending on what I eat and when I weigh. Be consistant on the time of day you weight, and just recognize the variation as that.
Look for the long term trends.

Yes....I understand that! BUT... I have witnessed many who make it to goal...and then, put it ALL back on. (They even appear to carry more FAT than they did before losing it all.)

I guess that I was just floored to hear that 4 little strawberries could effect someone's weight....I know that as I work my way through the ladders...I will want to try and 'add back in' some fruit....maybe some low-carb bread, or low carb noodles....not every day...but, on occassion. This is all new to me...and I guess that The news of the strawberries scared me....I mean really...I don't want to live the life of induction forever!!!!

Well. I think it can be done. I have more or less done it
for 8 years..

Exercise lets you get by with the occasional "nutritional holiday" too...

So, do you write down what you had to eat each day on your graph too? Then, you could see if their is a correlation in your weight, and the food that you consumed. Do you, also, write down when 'Tom' was around...as that would probably have an effect on your weight.

I know what your saying about turning back the hands of time. I used to eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted....I'm in between 5'6" and 5'7"...and I weighed 99 pounds when I got married. As you can see....I can't do that anymore neither!!!!

I'm a few years behind - it's been about three and a half years for me. I've varied within about a ten pound band during that time. My normal carb level is about 60g per day, but there have certainly been days when I've gone way overboard - then just been a bit stricter again for a while afterwards. IT is very doable, really .

"nutritional holiday"---

My diabetic "grandma" used to tell me that her ice cream was good for her because it had calcium.

I have been trying to get in to exercising. I hate it right now, but I know that once I'm used to it...I will look forward to doing it. Since going back to college, I have been leading a sedentary lifestyle. It's really taken a toll on me. So far this week...I have, 3x's, and for 30 minutes each time, rode the Airdyne. (I have to for my fitness class, but thought that, maybe, it would help me to make exercising part of my daily routine...as we get points for each 30 minute session of exercise that we do.)

This is really good to know, as I am at less than 20 gr/day, and more sounds better right now. I don't understand my cravings....I'm not eating off plan?

No, I don't write my food down most of the time. I did detailed recording for a few months, when I'd been maintaining for a little while and my weight was starting to creep up more than I liked. Just the fact that I wrote everything down (and measured all the quantities) was enough to get my weight moving downwards again - just very slowly, about half a pound a month, but I wasn't looking to lose a lot at that point, I just needed not to be going up. For me, recording every mouthful for the rest of my life isn't the way I want to live, though I know some people carry on putting everything in fitday year after year.

I do mark TOM on the chart. Some months I gain then, others I don't. I very often pop up a couple of pounds for a day or two when I ovulate. After a while, even without seeing the number on the scale I started to notice there'd be days when I was drinking water all day and nothing coming out, then a few days later I'd be in the bathroom all day even if I wasn't drinking much. It's pretty clear that's water weight .

Sooo....with your chart then...you are just watching 'the trend' then? I mean if it's moving constantly in the upward direction, instead of a mixed reading...with a moderate average...then, you watch what you're putting in your mouth more carefully?

This is the first "diet" I've ever tried to adjust to my woe. I started in on November 24...2 months ago. So, I guess that I am a newbie...and that's probably why I have soooo many questions all of the time. Ask Tooter ...she teases me about all of my questions....Jean does too!!!
