GOOD MORNING LCF'ers! Cold here in Florida this morning - in the 40's - but should get up to the mid-60's, so I'm not complaining. I know - I know - all you northerners would be driving around your neighborhood with the convertible top down wearing shorts.....

Day 3 - on my WOE. Just had a pork tenderloin and salad last night along with a few cashews for a treat while watching TV.

Neighbor brought over a ton of bran/cranberry muffins along with some oatmeal cookies. I know she uses Splenda - but my husband won't eat them so they will be deposited at my mother's place. I'm not even tempted.

What really got me back on tract (besides all of your kind posts) was I saw a gal in Church Saturday night and after Mass she said - OMG you look great. Did you lose weight? Well I remembered I had lost 57# last year and got down to 126# (way too low) - but I then realized I couldn't say that anymore. I know the net effect is a lot less and I can no longer say 57#. Something clicked in my brain and I was pissed at myself. So the combination of that you all of you doing so well - I'm now focused.

Cleaned the bathrooms today and finishing up one load of laundry. Made husband some french toast/sausage for breakfast so he's all watered and fed. When I make up bacon - because I already have the grease in the pan I automatically cook up french toast. That way when he wants breakfast - I just nuke a plate for him..

Have a great day everyone and for all your northerners - stay warm and away from all doors/windows.

What she said.

I've also been meaning to say that there's been some recent research showing that disturbed sleep disrupts blood sugar control, so your sleep apnea is an extra challenge you're having to cope with. But low carb eating has a very good success rate at reducing sleep apnea (according to Dr Mike Eades) so you're moving in the right direction, even if it's not the instant success we'd all like .

Thanks...Ailuros.

My sleep apnea is one of the reasons that I choose to do something about my weight...it has made a heart murmor. It's like trying to reverse a cycle that my body is in....but...I'm stubborn enough to do it....I guess. You know...when I am in a place where I can use my positive airflow machine while sleeeping...my weight-loss should get better. The Doc said that using the machine alone should help me lose weight...and he felt that my carb addiction, caffeine addiction, and smoking were all a result of my trying to stay awake. If I slept, without breathing issues, my metabolism would turn around. Also, if I loose some weight...the sleep apnea would not be as bad. So....I thought....I'm just going to lose the weight. Then, I saw the Kimkin's thing on the tv, and went to find her website....found you guys instead....the rest is history.

This is what Dr Eades said about sleep apnea:

"In my experience low-carbohydrate diets work better than any other therapeutic modality to get rid of sleep apnea, and that included surgery. What’s more, it pretty much treats the sleep apnea long before much weight is lost.

I’ve had patients who have logged tens of thousands of hours on CPAP (assisted breathing) machines get off them not long after starting their low-carb diets."

Click, do you realize that you are averaging about 10 pounds a month? It's really close to 9, but almost 10.

10 pounds a month. In 6 months that's 60 lbs...Let's say just 50 lbs. IN SIX MONTHS!! Do you realize what you will look like this summer?

Now, I realize that you wanted FAST results and that's why you looked into the Kimkins story.

Guess what? I don't know anyone who has done Kimkins and has lost the weight, that kept it off!!! Usually they gain it right back OR they develope an eating disorder to keep the weight off. Nice, eh? That's what you get with "quick Weight Loss". That's the reality.

Do you realize it takes about 18 months to get over a carb addiction? Truly.

Now, not only are you losing weight, but you are keeping it off, learning to eat all over again, learning about your body and you are doing it at a very healthy rate. That keeps you motivated!!! If you lost it all at once, you wouldn't take the time (nor have the time) to truly learn and grow as you are doing. People that lose at a very fast rate, never really deal with their carb addictions.

So, you are right on TARGET!!! Not only that, but your skin and body has time to adjust with your weight loss and I don't think you will have the SKIN issues that alot of people have with very fast weight loss.

So, with all your complaining.... You are actually WRONG because you are doing VERY WELL, Indeed!!!

Now, I'm done kicking you in the Butt and giving you an attitude adjustment.

Ooops....I lied! One more thing. Remember me saying about 18 months to get over a carb addiction? Think of alcoholics. It takes them about that long to get into recovery, change their life style...Get the alcohol out of their systems and also Deal and live comfortably with their new lifestyle. The dangerous time to drink again (fall off the wagon) is in those 18 months.

Well, it's the same thing with Carb Addiction. It takes that long for your Body, mind, lifestyle and emotions to line up properly. How many times to you hear of people losing weight (Alot in a short time) and then right after they hit "goal" they start gaining it back? Why? Because they didn't deal with the physical, mental and Emotional addictions they had with food. Finally (like an addict) they can't take it anymore and go on a binge. Then guilt and physical addiction kicks in...and more binges.

So, do you still want to complain to me about your weight loss? Because you are dealing with more here, then just weight loss. Now do you see how well you are doing? Now do you see how you are not only making changes to lose weight, but to keep it off and to insure that you will be the healthiest that you can be?

I've just looked back over my old graph from when I first started LC. It took me about six months to lose twenty pounds - L&F, you're going three times as fast as I did!

Click, one more thing...... (yeah, like try and shut me up)

You are doing all this (all these changes and dealing with addiction) while being in a home that is boarder line abusive and at best Stressful and extremely restrictive.

Cut yourself a BREAK, would ya! Dang it, instead of complaining you should be patting yourself on the back.

Thanks Tooter...and everyone!!!!

I just always set such high goals for myself...and I am stubborn enough to really strive to meet them...I wanted to be in Onederland by now. I have stuck to this...without swaying, without many choices, and without any "treats" even. I know that when I get out of here...and have my own kitchen...things won't be so bad, as I'm starting to get really bored with my choices of food. Then, because I'm not reaching my goal...I was just upset today.

Thanks to ALL for cheering me up!!! *group hug*
