Why on God's green earth would someone, who constantly complains about the gas/electric bill being too high if we (me & the boys) turn on a light, leave a t.v. blaring, and an electric heater blowing on high...when he's upstairs? Except to just try and irritate me? He's really good at intenionally trying to make trouble!!! And I am getting really weiry...I don't know how much more artificial sweetener I have left in me!!!! It bothers him more if I'm sweeter than the pecan pie that sounds good to me right now---the real kind!!! I just don't know how much longer I can be NICE!!!!!! He'a such an arse hole!!!!

OMG!!!!! The one who is so worried about fuel...just opened the electric garage door opener, got in his explorer, and drove to the mailbox to get the mail, drove back in the garage, and closed the electric garage door opener!!! Sounds alittle wasteful to me...especially since the driveway isn't THAT long. (It's probably.....too cold for the wuss!!!!)

I never forgot the vanilla...it was just grossly bitter on the bites that didn't have sweetener!!!

Thanks for your discovery!!!!

Yes, it is a fantastic work. I plan to read part of it to David on our trip.

He has always been a 'health nut' and has still had about 15 angioplasties and one stroke. His father also had many strokes. It's in the genes and he can do nothing about it other than take meds and stay as healthy as possible. Can you imagine, 'eating healthy' could have killed him if he hadn't been so active and never believed in sugar or starches.
It's Crazy. Most of the disease in the world today ARE Diet related. There are cases of Genetics. Like with cholesterol. Most cases are diet related (high carb diet) and that's why a low carb diet Will make the numbers go down (and the good up) for most people. There are cases where it's genetic and I don't think Diet alone will help that at all. BUT... If you read the book, you find out that cholesterol doesn't really have anything to do with heart attacks. I knew that from my family. My mother had AWEFUL (off the Charts) cholesterol and my Father's was good. My Dad died at 63 of a heart attack. My Mom is 79 and has never had heart problems at all.

Thyroid? Most Thyroid diseases, symptoms are diet related. There are some that are Genetic. But then, you can have diet related Thyroid disease and over time it WILL effect the thyroid and you will develope true thyroid disease, it just wasn't Genetic. That's why I watch not to have too much Soy in my diet. I'm not completely Soy free, but I do limit the amounts.

It's just amazing. Yep, David needs to read the book. I bet he would enjoy it after you "tease" him with parts of it. lol

On the fascination thread...I have done some reading.

In my opinion...there are ways to be passionate about things in a kind..and helpful way. (You are this example!!! )

Then, it seems, that there are others that are passionate about things that and are just down right rude...and not very helpful, as their attitudes' gets everyone on the defense.

To me...more info is learned, more help is offered, and more problems are solved when people are passionate about things in your style.

Hi! Sorry I haven't been posting. And now I'm posting shamelessly asking for advice...

I started feeling sick on Monday. Had hours of throwing up and diarrhea. At the same time. Awful! Thought maybe it was food poisoning, still not sure what's wrong. I've had times throughout the week where I feel fine for a few hours, maybe even as many as 6 to 8 hours. But only about three instances of this. Mostly, whenever I eat, I pay for it. I'm not throwing up any more, but I have serious gas (like my stomach has been distended and in a lot of pain), and I'm still experiencing diarrhea. Every time I eat. Doesn't matter what I eat. I'm also really craving sugar - having fantasies about eating frosting out of a can. So my questions are...

1) Any ideas on what this might be?

2) Any ideas on mild foods that I can eat that are still lc? Most of the standard advice says rice, etc.

3) Why am I having sugar cravings? Is it just my body trying to get "cheap energy" because I can't hold onto anything long enough to get any nutrients out of it?

Again, sorry it's a self-centered post. I'm just really sick of feeling like this and am hoping someone might have some ideas...

Happy to see you all are doing well. And Click, congrats on the loss this week!

Hippiegirl, this is what I found on Google.

Symptoms
If you are a carrier of H. pylori, you may have no symptoms. If you have an ulcer or gastritis, you may have some of the following symptoms:

Abdominal pain
Dyspepsia or indigestion
Bloating and fullness
Mild nausea (may be relieved by vomiting)
Belching and regurgitation
Feeling very hungry 1 to 3 hours after eating

I really think you should see a Dr. This has gone on too long. I send soft, gentle hugs... and hope you are completely well, soon.

Hippiegirl, of course, check with the doctor if this isn't clearing up, but on the question of what to eat, this is what Dr Eades (Protein Power) had to say on his blog when talking about a woman who'd been admitted to hospital after a few days of nausea: "Now, if you're an experienced physician, you tell her to not worry about her diet for a while until she gets over her nausea and vomiting, but that once she's recovered she can return to her low-carbohydrate weight-loss efforts.." If rice is what helps settle your stomach, or dry toast, or whatever then have that for now and get back to LC when you're better.

By the way, if you want to read the rest of the Dr Mike blog, it's here. It doesn't add to your understanding of how to treat an upset stomach, but it's an entertainingly scathing analysis of medical misunderstanding of the difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis.

I mean....soda crackers wouldn't be low carb, but.....

I guess...if it were me....and I couldn't hold anything in....I wouldn't worry about the carb count...I would try to give my body some kind of nourishment...until, my body was healed from the sickness...whatever it is?

If this persists...you should go see a doctor. Do you think that this might be stress induced...or is it a physical thing, Hippie?

Ailuros, Jean, Tooter, Pear, Ixtapacheryl, Woe...

Why do you think that Hippie might be having sugar cravings?

Do you think that it could be because of what Hippie asked: "Is it just my body trying to get 'cheap energy' because I can't hold onto anything long enough to get any nutrients out of it?".

Dehydration?
Mal-nourishment?

I don't know, but if I had to guess...it would be because of the inability to hold on to anything with alot of fat for long? And, that maybe, dehydration could be causing these cravings...along with the fact that your body is trying to gather energy to heal itself?

Maybe, while you're ill...you should "listen to your body"...as Tooter puts it. She says that it will "tell" you what it needs....?
