Good morning...Ailuros!!!!

What is "black pudding"? What do you mean..."No Vouchers"? Yes...I know, I know....all of my questions!!!!

Here's one more....what's the difference between chicken eggs, and duck eggs? I've never had a duck egg.

I never heard of the article about Scurvy, but I do know...for a fact...that I am eating way more veggies than I did before starting this woe. I hardly ever ate veggies....I was too full from my carb/nap cycling!!!! (Which...really...in reality...isn't funny, but now looking back...it is.)

Hello, L&F .

Black pudding is a kind of fat sausage made from pig's blood. They're traditional in the North of England, which is where I come from, although I didn't actually taste them until I moved down to the South, because my parents don't like them, so they never had them at home.

Duck eggs are pretty similar to hen's eggs, but a bit bigger and I think there's more yolk, too. When they're cooked the white looks a little more translucent, but they taste pretty much the same really. Occasionally they've had goose eggs, which again taste much the same, but are very big. One weighed half a pound . I did that as a huge poached egg for my husband's lunch.

Good Morning...Everyone!!!!

I just got back from dropping my youngest son off at the "ex's" Mom's house. He will be riding with her to Ohio for his cousin's funeral. They will be back on Tuesday afternoon. I am such a worry wart. I won't rest easy...until I hear that he made it there alright. And then, I will worry again...until he gets back here by me.

I got up at 2:30am, and got one class completely done. Now, I have one more to do, and then...I have another one to complete. The one that is completely finished was due by midnight tonight. The other two are due by midnight tomorrow night.

I think that the class that will pose the largest problem for me...due to the living arrangement...will be my History class. It requires alot of reading, thinking, and writing. Fortunately, the instructor allows us to work as far ahead as we like. So, when the move is drawing closer...I could, maybe get a couple of weeks ahead. Then, I won't have that much to worry about.

I will be checking in regularly today...and doing homework in between. I hope that all of you are having a wonderful day!!!

So far today:

ACV/Water
vitamins

2 eggs-scrammbled- with lots of butter(2 Tblsp)-seasoned with garlic salt, and red pepper
3 slices of bacon

I will be making some Peirogi Filling later for lunch...and snacks.

Supper: ?????????

Sooooo....black pudding is really sausage?!!! (Here I was thinking that you got yourself some kind of special sweet treat. ) I've heard of blood sausage...but have never tried it.

In Poland...there is a duck blood soup. My "Dad's" mother always had it around during the holiday season. I never tried it though. It has raisins in it...and is brownish in color...funny smell...and I NEVER cared to try it. I don't know how to spell it...but I'll try to spell it out...how it is pronounced....(Ch-eye-knee-na).

Holy crap!!!! That was a huge egg!!!! Have you ever tried ostrich eggs? I hear that those are REALLY huge!!!!!

Gosh, I envy you! *sigh*

Oh, and Word up on Scurvy... Did you read the Gary Taubes book? It would seem that people could get all the vitamin C they needed from meats. All animals (except humans) can produce their own. The problem comes in when you eat high carb foods or canned meat (it destroys the Vitamin C in the meat).

Anyways, the Sailors would eat a little Canned meat and usually alot of Grool and high starch foods (grains and sugar). That's how they got Scurvy. Interesting, eh?

Other Cultures who mainly ate fresh meat and fat (Think Eskimos) Didn't get Scurvy.

I found that interesting too, Tooter. But I think I'll carry on eating vegetables anyway . I really don't like eating just one thing. If I have just meat on my plate I can only eat a tiny amount - I like to have a variety of tastes and textures.

Thanks...Tooter!!!

I'm sooo excited to try some of these wonderful creations. When I move, I will have to do a big supply shopping. Hopefully, I can afford all of this different stuff. I might have to slowly build-up the supplies. I'm thinking that, maybe.... a banana/chocolate marble snack cake with whipped cream topping would taste delightful!!!!!

Click has been copying and pasting recipes onto a word document for later use. Then, I'm going to print them out, and make my own little recipe binder. I haven't copied the banana snack cake recipe yet...I wanted to wait to see how you tweeked it!!!!

Oh, I agree!

Here is a great thread that has alot of information and debate on Zero Carb, and people are bringing up Good points all around in this.

Zero Carbs

I Just thought it was interesting about all the misinformation about Scurvy.

I couldn't go Zero Carb. Oh, I could ( and have) done it for a day or two, but my body has a way of saying "Excuse me, I would like some Veggies, thankyouverymuch"!

Anyways, that thread is really interesting.

I am still debating on buying supplies from netrition. I can do alot with the almond flour and the Vital Wheat Gluten. It's also not something you can't eat every day and lose weight...Nor maintain weight. It has to be a "Treat" (once in awhile thing). At least, it is for me.

I think the biggest thing you will need is almonds to make almond flour. There is alot you can do with it.

OH, BTW.... I found a way to get the splenda to mix well in the CO Bark.

Remember me talking about the "Splenda Quick Packs"? You get them near the Kool Aid Section of the store. There are 5 packets in a little box. Each packet equals a cup of Splenda, but it doesn't have all the "fillers" in it (that the Bulk/grandular Splenda does). Anyways, it's to mix with Tea or Koolaid to make sure it mixes well. It also has less carbs, since it doesn't have the fillers.

Well, last night I made the CO bark and used the Splenda Quick pack. YEP, it mixed WAY better then The other splenda. Just wanted to give you the "heads up" on that.

Oh, the Splenda quick packs are about $2.70 a box??? That's not bad at all. I can't get them at my Hick town store, but the other stores I can.

Ailuros, here I am just getting up... It's nice to see a smiling face.

I would love to go to the market every day and buy fresh produce...I am with envy. I haven't heard of cavolo or nero, maybe we know it by a different name. Yes, I remember the scurvy accusation! If the doubters ever knew.

I am reading Gary Taubes book now and am shocked at what they have misrepresented in the 'diet' world. It reminds me of politicians when the researchers make the data fit their agenda.

Jean, isn't it an amazing book? I got so mad when I first read it. It is all politics and Egos. Nothing to do with true health nor nutrition.

Have you tried wearing headphones listening to soothing music to see if that helps you concentrate? My girls do it all the time, not soothing music, but still.

I hope things go well with your son traveling to and from the funeral. Are they both going? Just one?

GMTA, Tooter...I really should read all of the posts before I respond!

I haven't gotten that far in Taubes book, it is rather like reading a textbook and it goes slow for me. I often have to reread a sentence to 'get it!' I guess he is writing for other scientists.

I have read far enough to have a great disregard for 'Keyes'. He is one that I was comparing to politicians.

You probably just have different names for some of them. Cavolo nero is a cabbagey thing with very dark green leaves - hence "nero." It's become popular over here in the last few years since Italian food was very trendy for a while - I still love Italian stuff even if it's not this year's fashion food. This is what cavolo nero looks like:

I could not agree more. Sometimes I like to mix things up a bit when I eat, that adds another dimension. Like take a fork full of more than one thing at a time.

And to think that they have jeopardized the masses for their egos, that makes it criminal!

Yes, it is a fantastic work. I plan to read part of it to David on our trip.

He has always been a 'health nut' and has still had about 15 angioplasties and one stroke. His father also had many strokes. It's in the genes and he can do nothing about it other than take meds and stay as healthy as possible. Can you imagine, 'eating healthy' could have killed him if he hadn't been so active and never believed in sugar or starches.
