I'm here and have been very naughty. I have to earmark this thread as a favorite because when I want to come here I can't find out where it is located....... All of you are soooo special!Congrats to all who haven't been naughty. I promise I will get my life back on track. We have a friend that is dying - probably within the next few weeks. He's at home and his poor wife is a pack rat. We went over there two days ago and cleared a path into their house and got rid of about 4' high piles of magazines on all tables in their living room. My husband was vacuuming, I was throwing stuff, trying to clean the corian counters, washing dishes, etc. We haven't even made a dent in the place. The TV had inches and inches of dust on it. Now the dining room table has about a 4' stack of books and miscellaneous stuff on it and old TV's on the chairs. Now I know what people must go through when I've seen TV programs about this. It truly is unbelievable. There is no space on the kitchen counters, the tile floors and grout is horrible. They definitely need professional cleaners in there but that can't be done until a dumpster is pulled into the driveway and the stuff is thrown away. While we were there - poor Joe fell out of his bed. Here are the three of us trying to get him back into bed. I got on the bed and put my arms under his arm pit to pull and my husband and his wife were pushing. I knew I was doing something to my back when I did that - but I thank God that he had pity on me because low and behold my back is not hurting too much. They now have 24/7 hospics nurses at their home. So now you know why I'm missing in action lately. I would love to be able to wear a mask the next time I go over to try to help - but don't want to offend her. I need to do something because the morning after I did the cleaning I woke up all swollen, stuffy nose, etc. I know it had to do with the dust and mold. I guess I'll just offer it up. Oh yes - in between all of this my DH found out about a month ago that he has an abdominal aorta aneurysm 4cmx4cm and this past week his blood numbers were a little over the recommendations and found out he MIGHT have Chronic Lymphocytes Luekemia (sp?). Isn't that just wonderful? He's very healthy so all of this has floored us. So place add him to your prayer list. I could use some too. Luckily if he does have CLL - it's not deadly and people live with it for years. He just has to be careful not to come down with an infection. So now you know why I've been NAUGHTY! I know - I know - they are weak excuses to go off my WOE but at this point I will use anything. ![]()

![]() You are truly a Saint!!!! It is very nice of you to be helping your friends out. Sometimes, when out of our 'normal' routine it is easy to make choices that are not our best choices...when it comes to this woe. You know...we are a minority in this land of high carb foods. They surround us...and sometimes taunt us!!! Also, while maintaining our woe...we must plan ahead...that's hard to do with what all you have been doing. The food that surrounds us is much more convenient. When everything settles down... you'll get back to it. Maybe, all of the work you have been doing...will counteract the carbs you have eaten. ![]() All of our prayers go out to you and your husband!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Cheryl, no wonder you haven't been here . Sometimes everything seems to be thrown at us at once, doesn't it?About the only thing I can help with is a suggestion to take an over the counter antihistamine before going to your friends' house - I always do that when I know there'll be cats or mould, and it does help. I won't suggest particular kinds, because the names are often a bit different over here. Keep subscribed to our thread, and drop in when you get the chance. I hope things go peacefully and painlessly for your friend, and that your husband stays well and healthy. |

Morning gals,
Congrats on your 1lb loss, Click. Cheryl, I'm sorry to hear about your friend dying. I dont understand how a person can live like a packrat, but its nice that you and your hubby are helping them out. I'll pray for your hubby with his CLL & aneurysm. It sounds scary. Glad you're back  Since exercising yesterday and the day before, I gained a pound, how did THAT happen? I was hoping for a loss this morning. Tooter, glad you're back too. Do the stores in your area do double and triple coupons? They sure dont here, so I've rarely gotten an item for free. |

Thank you!!!! Great suggestion on the anti-h. I will pick up some of that before going over again.
The bad thing I noticed when I was over there is she is diabetic and OMG the candy/sweets in her house was unbelievable! She said she gets it for her husband but he doesn't eat that - except a cookie here and there. Cancer just LOVES sugar/carbs - it feeds off of it. I was just looking over Doug Kaufman's "Know the Cause" Phase 1 diet. It really is so close to Dr. A's WOE. You are on Phase 1 for a few weeks and then you can move to Phase 2. It is an anti-fungal WOE and clears up all kinds of symptoms that also feed on fungus. Their success rate is unbelievable! Again, thank you for your kind words. ![]() |

Cheryl, I didnt know that cancer loves sugar/carbs... does that mean this woe will help prevent cancer? My dad recently died of cancer and was also diagnosed with diabetes about a year before he died. Wonder if there is some relation there. I can so relate with what your family and your friend's family is going through. I hope he goes quickly and as pain free as possible.
Is "Know the Cause" geared towards any type of sickness? I just feel so much better eating the Atkins way, I know it must be healthy in so many ways. |

Woooo....Weeee!!!! 1 freakin' pound!!!! ![]() That is what I was wondering....back a while ago....about exercise. Remember? I asked about this problem....because I had heard about it. Maybe, someone will have an encouraging piece of advice...or something...for us. I am afraid of exercise...for this very reason. |

This is his slow time of the year....he has been working, mostly from home...lately!!! ![]() OMG!!!!! My Dad is gone....thought....good the t.v. will be off for an hour or so......I'll get some reading done....... ![]() ![]() .......in walks my brother to use the washer and dryer....![]() ![]() ......On goes the t.v., and some music, and him on his phone!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() I think that I will need to invest in a good set of earplugs!!!! ![]() Plus, I'm going to start staying up at night to do my work. If anything is said...I'll grow a set of balls....and tell him like it is: "I can't get my work done here...with all of the noise, and don't trust going anywhere....giving you the opportunity to snoop around for something to b1tch about." If I get kicked-out, I get kicked-out. I realize what respecting their home means, but...that doesn't mean that I deserve no respect. After all...we wouldn't be here invading their space...had they not told a huge lie about "Our Own Little Apartment" in the basement. ![]() Last edited by Lost and Found : 01-18-2008 at 08:31 AM. |

A challenge to all you chefs out there.
When I go to europe this summer, I need to make something that I can take with me on daytrips. Something that doesnt require refrigeration or preparation. Something that doesnt have any funny ingredients I cant get at a normal grocery store. A bar or something. I'd take the atkins bars, but you know how they make me gain. Does anyone have a favorite bar recipe they'd like to share that is completely on plan? I was thinking of brownies... but would like some more ideas. |

![]() Honey, you have alot on your plate right now. I am so sorry about your friends. Both will be in my prayers.Hey, no guilt and no excuses. I just don't want you beating yourself up. You'll know when you are "ready". We aren't going anywhere. In the mean time, we are still here for you for any kind of support you need.God Bless you and DH for helping your friends out. I agree, take benadryl or something, before you go to their house. You also got me intrested in this "Doug Kaufman". I did a little reading about him with a Thread you started in the Main room. I think it was on hair loss. Anyways, I will be reading more and going to his site. Thank, Cheryl.

![]() Coupons. Each store is different. There is one in my Hick town that doubles up to 99 cents. No limits. Meaning if I have 4 coupons for the same product, I can by 4 of them and they will double all 4 coupons. Another store, a couple of towns away, doubles up to $1, but it is limited. Meaning if you had 4 coupons for the same product thet will ONLY double one of those coupons. I get the best deals at my little hick town, but...The $1 coupons at the other store end up being $2...I just can only get ONE of those products and not stock up on them at one time. I got a great deal on Cheese with Doubled $1 coupons today. I had a coupon for Dreamfield Pasta for $1. There pasta is 1.98. The coupon doubled means that I get it for Free. Now, I have 3 other coupons for dreamfield, but I can only use one a visit to double them. Each store is different, so you have to Check out their policies. Our local paper doesn't have very many coupons in it...So On Sunday I go to our Grocery store and pick up the Pittsburgh Post. TONS of coupons in there. I pick up 4 copies. It more then pays for it'self. So, it's important to find out which papers has the most coupons in them. |

Almond Joy Protein Bars 1 1/2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate 2 Tbsp. butter 2 Tbsp. cream 5 packets Splenda (more or less to taste) 1 cup Designer Protein, chocolate flavor 1 1/4 cups finely chopped almonds 1 cup unsweetened coconut 2 Tbsp. Splenda-sweetened coconut syrup Heat chocolate and butter in microwave, stirring every minute until completely melted and smooth. Stir in cream and Splenda. Add protein powder, almonds and coconut and mix together well. Sprinkle syrup over all and mix, using hands to "knead" mixture thoroughly. Pat into a small baking pan or plastic container. Yes...and what makes things even worse...I know that I could leave within a month...if I want to risk it with finding somewhere to live...or I have to sit and wait for the phone call on an opening in the housing that I signed-up for.

I don't know if they require the fridge to set, or if people just do it for them to set quickly??
They would probably be too messy for a day trip though. Brownies, blondies...might be better. |
