Hubby (not on low carb) burned through his glucose pretty quickly. We had the same breakfast that morning. I was not hungry, and he was starving after about an hour. I had a couple of beef jerky sticks even though I was not hungry and he had a granola bar and about five jerky sticks and was still really hungry.

He got winded before I did.

Even so, we're pretty well matched as far as ability goes. I'm looking forward to doing more hikes with him. It was really rejuvenating, being out in the woods where it is peaceful. It was nice being away from everything.

Unfortunately, it is still winter, so we dont know when the next hike will be. Yesterday was gorgeous, a sunny day on a weekend day is so very unusual around here.
Pear,

You live in a great place to hike. It is so beautiful there.

Wow, does that ever speak for this woe! Do you think you can ever convert your hubby?

When my Honey asked how I was doing with my new eating habits, last night, I told him that my best friend, (him) had encouraged cutting out sugar for 31 years and I just 'got it'. He said, "that is called, 'selective hearing'!"

No wonder he could outrun the young bucks when he was in his 50s. He always ran with his remedials on Saturdays and they would start out in a sprint and chuckle as they passed the old man, but then, he would pass everyone of them and just keep going.

He ran the Boston and Marine marathons many times and has always eaten this woe by instinct. I guess I just have a slower learning curve.

I already know how difficult it is to move a family across the country right in the midst of a semester...and I'm dreading the work of it all. I just want it to be ALL over with. School too. I am so sick and tired of struggling along. I just want to work...and make a decent living...and live a less stressful life. Moving will help with the stress part, but finishing school will be the best part. I hope that I am excepted into a Nursing Program. Then, atleast, there will be an end in sight.

Your psyche can only handle so much and you are definitely on overload right now. Take a deep breath and know that you have the tools to endure, especially since you are healthier.

Just joking around. I understand the anticipation of a long awaited visit. Hence...the more communication right before a visit.

Yesterday, it was 50 degrees and sunny.

Today, it is dumping snow. We've got 5" so far. The roads get very slippery around here when it snows. I may have to take a snow day tomorrow.

During the winter season, it sure isn't like that in Minnesota....but....here in Indiana it can be 60 degrees on one day, and because of living right by Lake Michigan and Lake Effect Snow, we can get a foot of snow the next day.

It seems that winter isn't what it used to be here now. The area gets alot of snow, but then, warms up...and it all disappears within a couple of days. When I was younger, this area got alot of snow, but it didn't melt until spring.

Snow isnt very usual around here. We get alot in the mountains but here in the lowlands we may get a few snow events or none in a winter. Snow worries me, because after snow we get flooding in the valleys and that is a pain in the tushy for the people in my area. Last year we got completely landlocked.

Hubby took the 4x4 to work, and he had some trouble. Poor guy has to work nights this week, probably next too.

That's right.....I remember you saying that you were stranded in your home a month or two ago...due to flooding.

Do you have enough food in the house...incase that happens?

Do you have the same problem in the Spring, from the run-off of the mountains' snow melting? What state are you in again?

Looks like it would be a beautiful hike. I love waterfalls. There are some in Minnesota...up by Duluth. I used to love camping up there.

My favorite things to hunt...are lighthouses. I've seen quite a few, and taken pictures of every one that I have seen. So far, my favorite one is on our most Easternly point of this country...up in Maine. It is red and white striped.

I went there in the fall, and the wild blueberry bushes growing all along the sides of the road were bright red in color. When arriving at the light house, the air smelled of Christmas Trees, and I saw some seals playing in the ocean. It was beautiful. Relaxing. A time that I will cherish forever.

West Quoddy Head Light

Lubec, Maine

Thomas Jefferson signed the order in 1806 authorizing construction of a lighthouse at West Quoddy. The tower was finished in 1808, and guided ships through the Quoddy Narrows, between the U.S. and Canada, until 1858 when it was replaced with the current tower and keeper's house.
The lantern is fitted with a third-order fresnel lens. The distinctive red and white bands make this light picturesque and a popular photographic choice for calendars and commercials. The light is located in Quoddy Head State Park, as far east as you can drive in the U.S.

The flooding is caused when we have a snowstorm followed by warm weather, the rapid meltoff overwhelms the rivers and overlows. It can happen anytime from fall to spring.

We have tons of food, I buy when its cheap and stock-up. No worries there.

We're in washington.

After seeing your post telling where you might go hiking this weekend...I guessed that you were in Washington.

I'm glad that you have plenty of food on hand.

David said they have had more than the usual amount of snow this year, have you?

Do you have many snow days a year, normally?

Oh, Pear, that sounds like a grand place to hike.

It was raining so hard when we drove from Seattle to Spokane and I've never seen so many water falls. Because it normally doesn't rain that much here I sure enjoyed the sites.

Also, coming down Highway 20 a couple of days before they closed it for the winter, I was in awe. Although it was raining, I had the window down so I didn't miss a thing on the drive down the mountain.
