Pear, I haven't tried that recipe, but for any recipe that calls for almond flour or meal, I just use ground almonds bought from the supermarket. Nuts don't keep well once they're ground, but the bags aren't very big, and I don't seem to have had any problems with them. If it's something where you particularly want an almond flavour, freshly ground will give you more of that, but normally, when it's substituting for flour, the pre-ground stuff works fine.

I'm now down two pounds from my post-Christmas high . In another day or two I should have dropped all the water and then the slower process of losing the excess fat starts!

You need to do it in both, other wise, you'll just have ground nuts. The meal/flour is about the same thing.

The difference with Almond flour (that you buy) is that it is made with hulled almonds. They don't have the skin on them. It looks more like flour. The Meal would be the almonds ground with the skins on (like I do)?

The almond flour has more of a look of flour (because it's white) where the home made stuff and meal...has more of a Whole Wheat look and taste.

I hadn't thought of that difference, because when I've made it at home, I've always used blanched almonds, not the whole ones with skin on. I'll have to try the whole ones next time.

I did too (at first) but it's still expensive to do it with the blanched almonds. Also, you figure alot of the nutrients are in the "skin". Like I said, what I have noticed is like the difference between "White" and "Whole Wheat".

I actually like it with the skins.

If I was going to make a fancy cake for Non-lowcarbers, I would use the blanched almonds.

My husband won't eat anything "imitation," so the almond flour things I make are just a few almond muffins or crackers for myself. I use so little that the price really isn't an issue, but I think the "wholemeal" effect might be good in the muffins.

I'm not sure, but I think she said that she was only staying one night, so I would think it must be soon. I hope it went well, she deserves some good news!

Good morning everyone!!!!

I made it!!!!!!!

I left, Saturday night....Drove through dense fog all of the way there. Later, I found out that...over a 5 mile span in Wisconsin...there where 100 cars in pile-ups with more...than one death. The interstate was even closed. SHhhheww!!! Good thing that I missed that.

I got signed-up on some waiting lists, and got my books. Then, drove back. There was heavy rain on the way back...and this morning I've heard that the interstate by Chicago is closed due to flooding. Good thing that I missed that too. It seems that I missed everything....thanks for all of your prayers.

I stayed on task with my woe. I found that doing this while traveling isn't easy...but I did it.

When I stopped over at one of my friend's house, her daughter said: "Boy...you're looking good!!!". That felt really nice to hear....I don't see the difference that much....which leads me to a question. I never had "rolls" on my back. Mainly just a budda belly problem. Yesterday, when I was walking briskly around my school, I noticed that the skin on my back was jiggling. What's going on? Am I getting fat, or is there an over abundance of loose skin? Has anyone else experienced this? There was never any jiggling on my back prior to changing my woe.

I've come to the conclusion that if my name doesn't come up on one of the waiting lists by the time that my student loans come...I will be trying to get a place that doesn't go by income. If I stay here, too much past the time that my money comes, it will disappear...feeding everyone that eats in this house. So, I'm nervous, scared, and excited...all at one time.

I'm happy to have read that everyone is doing good!!!!

Congrats to all of you losers!!!!

Good to see you again, L&F . I'm so pleased you missed all the disasters on the roads!

Lots of people find that before fat disappears, it changes in texture, and becomes more "jiggly." Maybe there's a whoosh in your near future .

Thanks...Ailuros!!!!

It is really nice seeing you here again!!!

Since my 1 pound loss, after not losing for three weeks...I haven't weighed again. I try to only weigh -in on Fridays (My weekly anniversary). I started this woe the day after Thanksgiving. I guess that if a teenage child noticed such a difference....weight isn't everything...as long as I "look" smaller, and feel better. I guess that I wouldn't care if I ever saw Onederland...if I was back in my size 5 pants.

So, that is really interesting....about the jiggly thing!!!! Hopefully, you are right....a visit from the Whoosh Fairy would be really nice...after all of this time!!!!

I looked at my Phy-Ed book. It appears that I will either be telling fibs, or causing a ruckas (spelling?) in that class. They go into nutrition. Any guess from anyone what I'm going to say next? They follow the food pyramid standards!!!!

Sorry...but this really concerns me. There was never any jiggling going on there before. Just want to make sure that there isn't anything wrong!!!

Hey Click! I'm so glad you're home! It was kinda quiet around here without you!

VERY SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION AHEAD...

The jiggling thing: From what I understand, the fat leaves the cells, the cells fill up with water because the body wants to hold onto the weight so badly. Then, FINALLY, the whoosh fairy visits and drains all the little nasties completely and, voila! You've lost some weight!

So it's a good thing, honest. It feels gross in the meantime, though, eh?

I can't find any now, but I've really read several accounts of pre-whoosh jiggling . Keeping my fingers crossed that you're about to see the numbers change - though, as you said, if you look cute and slim, and feel good, who cares what the scales say .
