I know that you may have questions about the Kimkin's diet....I know that I did when I first arrived here!!!!

Follow the following link to a blog. You'll get a run-down on why you "should just say no" to Kimkins...without having to try and make sense of all the many pages of "What's the fascination with Kimmer".

I know that the elderly can, sometimes get to be a little frustrating...but they get frustrated/confused themselves too...I'm sure.

I have a very soft heart for the elderly. I love listening to their stories, and helping them out. Just think how much your Mom has seen throughout her many years....no wonder the new electronics are somewhat confusing....they can be to me too. Just imagine how much things have changed since her birth in 1923. I betcha' that she could tell some really good stories about how things once were.

So, how did you come up with the Ixtapa part of your name? I wonder, as my Grandpa...who is around your Mom's age....still goes to Ixtapa every winter. He owns a condo there, and is only back home, here in the states, through the summer. I don't think that he will ever slow down.
Well my husband and I went there for many years (Ixtapa) when we lived in Wisconsin. I LOVE that area. Is your Grandmother still alive and does she go with him? Glad to hear that he's still very active. My mother was too until her back started giving her problems. She use to travel all the time to Mexico (by herself).

I went over there to help her find the battery pack in her hip and even I had a problem finding it under the skin (it really is in her buttocks). Well I finally found it - and we even recharged the battery while I was there. She decided not to attend Mass but I'm sure at 84 - God understands.

I trimmed her ivy that had dead leaves falling all over the lanai floor and dry as a desert while she was watching a 1923 movie on TV.

Deleted all the pictures stored on her computer because I had burned them all on a CD. I must brag though - at age 78 is when she learned the computer. She banks and pays bills online, creates spreadsheets for her medical bills, etc.
I then ran off to Mass and hopefully the phone won't ring tonight asking how to turn off the stimulator....

Have a great evening everyone. Hopefully I can get to the golf course tomorrow to play a round of golf while husband is watching football

My Grandma is no longer living. My Grandpa travels alone, but thinks he's something with all of the women........STILL!!! That's another thing that will never change with him!!!!

I'm happy that you still have the opportunity to spend time with you Mom, as the time spent with her will be etched in your mind forever!!! People often take the "good times" for granted....I wish that I would have more good times with my mom. It seems that the good times are gone...as she...as a person... is gone. Her personality has became that of a shell, and she's very depressing to be around. The only thing still funny about her, is her carbed-up farts!!!!

Hello, everybody, I'm home again .

We had a lovely time staying with my parents, but all my great strategy for eating properly flew out of the window somewhere along the way, and this morning I weighed (I didn't weigh while I was away) about five pounds more than before we left. I know some of that will be just water, so I'll have a better idea in a few days. I was a bit higher than I really like to be before we went away, so I'm going to knuckle down and aim for ten pounds less than this morning's weight. I expect that I'll lose 3 pounds or so of water fairly quickly, then the rest will probably be slow, but I'll just keep the carbs down, make sure to get plenty of protein and good fats, and let my body sort the rest out. My husband has quite a bit to lose, and he is ready to get serious, so that will help.

Welcome to those who joined while I was away, and thanks to the regulars who kept things going . I hope I'll be up to speed again soon.
