For a "Dry Rub" (for Barbecue) you could just use all kinds of seasonings mixed together. Splenda, Seasoning salt, Garlic powder, celery salt, onion powder, paprika, Chili powder, pepper, cayenne....... Heck, you could use anything you wanted or have in your spice cupboard.

Go Crazy and experiment.

I think I would start off and cook the Pork with a Dry Rub, then when it's done "Pull it" and mix it with the Low carb BBQ sauce. Heck you could serve it with Low Carb Cole Slaw on the side or even on top of it.

See, we just have to think "outside the Box" but we CAN make the things we love and have the wonderful taste without all the carbs.

Pear, I found this recipe and thought of you. I have not tried it yet, but I think I will.

Spicey Peanut Slaw

1 Head Cabbage, Shredded ( or 7 cups of bagged coleslaw mix)
8 scallions sliced
1 cup of Mayo
1 tablespoon Splenda
1/2 teaspoon blackstrap molasses
2 teaspoons chili garlic paste
1/2 cup chopped dry-roasted peanuts

8 servings, 4 carbs, 1 gram of fiber...equals net carb count of 3 grams.

I went to my Mom's work today...she needed me to run an errand. While I was there, a co-worker of hers told me that my face has gone way done in size since she saw me last week!!!

Well....so far today:

diet 7-up
water

salt and vinegar pork rinds (in place of crackers), dab of mayo, kippered herring

Biotin
calcium, magnesium, and zinc
vitamin C
multi-vitamin

(I took all of the ugly clothes back that my Mom got me for Christmas from Kame-a-part...and got my vitamins, and the boys something for lunch!!!! Teeheeehheeee )

It's good. I am going to get moving on today. I have the day off from work.
Today's goals:
Measure out a mile in the back yard for the walks that I want to start taking.
Go to Barnes and Noble- purchase a book by Tom Venuto
Drink plenty of water
Eat healthy
and Most of all go see my daughter and my grandaughters.
Good Luck with your goals/challenges today.

newfocus,

It sounds like you have a great recipe for success there. Exercise, a good book, healthy eating and most of all, your daughter and granddaughters. Wow, what a combination. Everyone knows I am silly about my grandkids.

I am also glad that you found your way back this morning, that is a good sign. We have lots of support here.

That sounds great, Tooter, I think I will make it today as I have all the ingredients. I love it when I see a recipe that I don't have to put on hold because I don't have everything.

GUESS WHAT! I am back down to 200.08 this morning, I may make it to Onderland yet! I just thought of something, I wasn't even naked, hmmm, I may have been very close. Do you think panties and a long nightgown would weigh half a pound?

Click, listen to our 'old wise one' Tooter, she knows of what she speaks! I was on a stall for two weeks til Christmas (and of course coconut oil) and I am just sliding down the scales now.

I had the best prime rib last night with extra cauliflower and broccoli in place of the potato. The salad was mostly dark greens and I used half the blue cheese dressing (always order on the side). No bread, it sat there on the table just begging but I had a mindset and it didn't even touch me. I put lemon in my water instead of my usual diet coke.

My friend is so envious that I am losing and every time she sees me she comments. She is thinking of joining WW again because she says she just can't go without her carbs. Well, I wonder how she got overweight.

The only thing I said was that I felt the same way til I got them out of my system but didn't push any farther. She can watch my progress and make up her own mind. Because she was asking questions, I did tell her I could loan her my Atkins or Protein Power Life Plan but know she doesn't read.

BTW, Tooter, I find Protein Power to be very enlightening.

Pear, I always put a few drops of 'smoke' in my homemade BBQ sauce and a touch of dry mustard. If I make it now, I would add a smidgen of black strap and SF maple syrup. I'm like Click, I'm getting hungry now.

Jean, I am so glad you are enjoying the Protein Power book (I need to re-read that again). I'll tell ya, we can glean so much from all the different books. Knowledge is Power.

Jean, one more "Wise" piece of advice from me, Ok? Do NOT loan your books to anyone. If they are serious about doing it and learning, they will go and get the books themselves. Otherwise, the book you loan will sit on their coffee table (or placed somewhere in some room of their house) and you can almost bet money they will not only LOSE the book, but they will never use it.

That's just something I learned the "hard way". I know you are excited and just want to "give" all this information away to people to "Free" them...But it doesn't usually work out that way. They truly have to come to the point (like we did) that we were going to search out for this information for ourselves and learn. If they do that, THEN we can help them, encourage them and "share" our own Journey with them.

It really seems like until they get to that point...it's a moot point for us.

I have learned never to "Loan" a book that is important to me.
