Yes, Tooter, the cracklins have much more texture and flavor. I was so surprised because I thought, I'll never find those in CA. I was looking for the Habanaro flavor and when I got to the end of my normal brand, there they were with two hot sauce packs included. Thank you.

Can you tell how much I cherish this group??? I learn so much here and it is good to see how this WOE evolves for everyone. We learn that no two people are the same and do not always respond the same way. We help work through issues and trouble shoot in such a respectful way, (well, usually ).

I guess the reason I am so awestruck with this group is because I spent my first six weeks at the official 'A' group watching people get hurt and offended. I learned early on not to post. The ego's are huge there and they expect everyone to know that they changed some of the rules put down by the good Dr. I do respect their knowledge but most of the personalities get in the way.

That is why I can't say thank you enough. I need a support group and sure found it here. I was referred to LCF by Linda Sue while looking for a jalapeņo jelly recipe and this group really stood out. I think I'll write her back and thank her too.

I think all of us together make one heck of a team!!

Hmm... Maybe your body is craving healthy carbs? Low carb veggies? My body tends to remind me, if I have taken my carbs to low for awhile. It's like..."Excuse me, I would like a Salad or something if you don't mind". lol

Wow, I just read all about the KK experience and I shudder! I sure hope all of the work you, Tooter, and everyone there are doing pays off by saving people from themselves. Pear and Queen Lurker, thank goodness you are with us now.

Tooter, you are very humble and I do find you wise in the way you approach things. You are not offensive and have learned through experience and share it to help others.

When I first joined I read through a small fraction of the Fascination site. Can you tell me whatever happened with the situation where a lady got letter from a Dr. that was associated with the KK site, telling her she was hurting him and his family and included a picture of the family by inquiring about his credentials?

I used only 1 tsp of CO in my pumpkin muffins that I make often, usually with butter. The symptoms were heartburn and acid tongue. I have intended to research reactions to CO and will do so now. I am determined if I can use a drop and continue to slowly increase it, perhaps I can adjust. Maybe it just proves how much I need it. I'll let you know what I find out.

Yes, each one of our members have contributed so much to this site and I am proud to know you. I do miss Winslow and hope she can work through her disappointment. It's a shame to lose her experience and common sense because of an unfortunate incident. I think she is a special lady and send her God Speed.

Dr. MARK!!! LMAO

Umm...I think he is a little Scam artist too. Um, I think Kimmer shut him up, he was giving advice against her. He is not a real doctor. I believe he is just a certified acupuncturist? He has no right to use the Title "Doctor".

There are so many subjects in that one thread. I don't really remember. I think he quit posting. No one's been talking about him.

Hippygirl? Does he still post there?

Lost and Found, how did you see it on the news? You are in the midwest, right?

I thought it was only shown on the west coast? Everyone else I know had to view it on the internet because we don't live in LA.

Tooter,

I fried two eggs in one tsp of CO, (BTW, I use certified organic virgin coconut oil made by NOW) and my mouth and throat are burning right down to below my bust and started within 30 min. It feels scalded.

"Coconut allergy
Allergy to coconut is rare in the UK, but coconut can cause allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis) in people who are sensitive. A small number of people who are allergic to nuts have reacted to coconut. It might also cause reactions in people who are allergic to latex."

I have always been a nut eater with no problems.

The funny thing is, both my daughters work in the medical field and one is allergic to Playtex and one is allergic to non-Playtex.

When Chelli had to do a CPR course and used the dummy for mouth to mouth, her whole mouth blistered. Cheri, on the other hand had red scalded looking hands when the hospital went to non-Playtex gloves. They have to special Playtex gloves for her now. My grandmother had hands that looked like Cheri's when she used detergents. She had to make lie soap with fat renderings.

I have been reading all morning and since the allergies are rare I am going to find out what is going on, back to the one drop idea. The health benefits are phenomenal if I can use it. There is very little negative on it.

Just filling you in on my morning.

What symptoms would one have with candida?

Whatever it is, Jean, I would just take your body's signal and stop using the Coconut Oil.

I hope your throat feels better soon. Personally, I think you should have a low carb ice cream bar. (get mine at Safeway, if you have Safeway there) You need it. You deserve it. It will make your throat better.

Candida would cause stomach upset. I changed my post after I realized it was your throat burning. I dont think it would cause that. So never mind my silliness.

Well, I have read all kinds of symptoms and the only thing that I can relate to is hypoglycemia. I was diagnosed at age ten.

Since I haven't eaten one thing not allowed on this WOE, no sugar or flour, etc. has passed my lips since Oct. 5th, wouldn't that lessen the candida? I eat a lot of home made yogurt made under the best conditions.

I'm totally confuzzled.

OK, got it, Pear.

Isn't that just like teenagers? It is such a tough age for both the teens and parents. Someone once told me it is a 'period of insanity'.

Their hormones are telling them they are adult and should make their own inexperienced decisions but in many ways they still act like children.

What next, Pear? I totally empathize.

Insanity for who? us or her?

Well, she's behaving the same way for him as she did for us. She has bad grades, she wont clean her room, she stays in her room all the time when not at school, has horrendous temper tantrums, doesn't get along with him, wont listen, etc.

I cant wait for her to turn back into a human.

Pear, I use the recipe from Dana Carpender's 500 low carb recipes.

1 qt. pkg whole powdered milk, (I could only find 1/2% powdered milk, though, with 11 carbs per 8 oz) 1 Tbs. plain active yogurt. It's that simple.

Last week I made it with a qt. of 1/2% powdered milk and 1 qt. of whipping cream and it was to die for, you really think it is sinful. Amanda was eating it by the bowl full and asked me to make some for her to use at home. She loves it on baked potato.

I think the 'period of insanity' is for all involved with a teen, but it was meant for the teen... I send you my best wishes, it is never easy.

Awe, Pear, did we go away and leave you alone. I'm sorry but I had a great nap.

I just finished dinner with hamburger patty/swiss cheese melted on top and 1 C spinach. I am so full.

I have a question. How do you count the carbs in yogurt. I have read that it's not that high, then again, it depends on ideal conditions. OK, then what?

Always looking for others opinions and advice.

Uh, I get the Dannon Fit & Light carb control yogurt, and it has 4 carbs. What does Dana Carpender list as carbs on that recipe?

Jean, that's not a normal reaction. This is the 3rd time.

Candida is yeast and when they die off, they can give all kinds of symptoms, but I have never heard of the "burning".

The main reaction from Die off would be stomach upset. Flu like symptoms, even the "runs". Why? Because as they are dying they relase toxins into your body. Your body goes through that (getting worse before it gets better).

The "die Off" would not be "Right away". It would happen awhile after you ate the coconut oil. The yeast would have to have time to actually DIE and then toxins be released.

Yours is not a normal die off reaction. Yours was RIGHT away! Which would lead me to believe it is an allergic reaction.

I don't think you should take it anymore at all.

Please stop the coconut oil. Yes, I believe it has great benefits but it's not a "miracle" drug. It' not a magic bullet. You don't have to use it to be successful at low carb at all.

I just am really concerned about this being your 3rd time, immediate reaction... and I feel there is no doubt that it's the Coconut oil.
