I guess that I just do not understand!!!! The boys, and I, had good times...even without a bunch of money!!! We laughed and joked, had our holiday meals....I guess that I was hoping that the moments would even be more memorable with family. I was sadly mistaken!!! They will be memorable....that's for sure ....just not in a way that I would wish my boys to recall their holidays!!!!

Dinner isnt for another 10 hours, if you can get yerselves here, you're welcome to come. I just stocked up on ice cream bars too.

Do you have the picture hosted somewhere? You can also right click on a picture to get its address, copy and paste it into the mountain icon.

That mama cat looks awful mad.

Pear, your dinners sound great, but in ten hours I'll be fast asleep - or if I'm awake, starting to think about breakfast. We're eating out tonight, so I don't know yet what I'll be having.

Tooter, I've almost finished the wrapping - just a couple of things left to do tomorrow. And we bought my father a GPS for his car, so we'll leave that out and charge the batteries on Christmas Eve, then wrap it at the last minute. My husband's the thoughtful one who says it's no fun to open a present and then have to wait for hours for the battery to charge before you can play with it.

I'm so Jealous!! Good for you. Your Husband is VERY Thoughtful. The only thing worse then not having a battery charged, is not having a battery at ALL for gifts that need them.

Good Job!!

Hey, If you start swimming now, maybe you could join us for dinner? It would be one heck of a "Work out"!!

Tooter - oh, Wise One Fat Pusher Guru?

I know you said you don't take fish oil capsules, but I have been for awhile, and have really enjoyed some great benefits (elevated mood, seems to help cravings a little, and my nails are looking fabulous!). But I've been getting cold lately. Now, usually I'm pretty tough when it comes to cold weather. The last coupla winters I've pretty much just worn an un-lined corduroy jacket over my long-sleeved shirt or sweater, and I've been fine. This year, I've invested in a heavier coat, I find myself getting chilly at night and needing extra covers, etc.

The friend who originally recommended the fish oil, said that she had quit taking it because she bruises easily anyway, and someone told her that it is a blood thinner. So a light goes on in my head - maybe that's why I'm getting cold all the sudden! I know that when my dad went on blood thinning medications, he started needing to bundle up and caught a chill a lot easier than before.

So my question - have you ever heard of this particular property of fish oil capsules? No need to research or anything for me - I'm sure I could track it down if I tried. But I thought I'd ask my guru first.

Thanks, Oh Wise One

Thanks for your vote of confidence, but I am not that wise. I'm just a poor old redneck on a Journey of trying eat right and learn. lol

I have NO CLUE as to the Fish oil capsules. When you find out the answer, could you let me know?

I just get all that from eating Salmon a couple of times a week. Heck, I hate taking supplements and just one more (that might cause me to burp that stuff) never seemed to trip my trigger. lol

I really would like to know the answer, though.

Hippygirl, you might just be right. This is what I found. Not directly related to your side effects. Maybe lay off them for awhile and see what your body does? Or lower the dosage?

-------------------
Fish Oil Side Effects

Omega-3 and Omega-6 fish oils have been promoted not only for dyslexia and ADHD but also heart disease, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, bipolar disorder and cancer. In some cases there is good evidence to support fish oils as a treatment and in others the evidence is unclear. But what are the health risks of taking fish oils? Lots of producers of fish-oil capsules promote large dosages of supplements so are there any side effects from fish oils?

The US National Institute of Health classifies low intake of omega-3 fatty acids from fish as “Generally Regarded as Safe”. However they do highlight certain fish oil side effects that may trouble some people. The omega-3 in the fish oil may increase the risk of bleeding when taken in large doses. The bleeding can take the form of strokes, nosebleeds and blood in the urine. As the fish oils seem to decrease platelet aggregation, bleeding times may be longer.

A major worry with fish oils and the fish they are created from is poisoning from heavy metal and other pollutants. Mercury, dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are found in some species of fish. However, mostly this fish oil side effect is associated with eating fish directly as the oil, even in contaminated fish, carries little of the pollutants.
Stomach upset are a common side effect of fish oil supplements. Diarrhea may also occur, with potentially severe diarrhea at very high doses. There are also reports of increased burping, acid reflux/heartburn/indigestion, abdominal bloating, and abdominal pain. Fishy aftertaste is a common effect. Gastrointestinal side effects can be minimized if fish oils are taken with meals and if doses are started low and gradually increased.

People with low blood pressure or those taking blood-pressure reducing medicines should take care. One of the reported side effects of fish oil is a reduction of blood pressure. The impact on blood pressure appears to be dose dependent.

Vitamin E plays a part in metabolizing omega acids so large doses of fish oil place high demands on the body’s vitamin E supply. To avoid this fish oil side effect, vitamin E is added to many commercial fish oil products. As a result, regular use of vitamin E-enriched products may lead to elevated levels of this fat-soluble vitamin. Fish liver oil contains the fat-soluble vitamins A and D, and therefore fish liver oil products (such as cod liver oil) may increase the risk of vitamin A or D toxicity.

One side effect of fish oils and their fatty acids is an increase low-density lipoprotein levels (”bad cholesterol”) by 5-10%. This is dependent on the dose used. The oils have also been noted to have an effect on blood glucose levels in people with Type 2 / Adult Onset Diabetes but this is short-term and no long-term effects have been reported.

Overall omega-3 and 6 rich fish oils have few side effects and can be considered safe the vast majority of the population.

What is your blood pressure like, Hippygirl? It says it can effect that and lower it more.

I'm glad I never took them, mine is normally low (same with my temp). It's this that makes me "Wonder" if you are right.

When I got back to this house...I looked in the book. Gyro meat was not listed, but it said that all lamb has "0" carbs. Do you think that those big things of gyro meat going around and around...as they carve those lovely slices off have added carb-filled fillers?????

The sour cream had 1.2 carbs.

Besides bark, this is all that I've had today!!! So, do you think that it was okay?
