BUT................... You could just use Brown Diabetisweet (I found it at wal-mart). At the time I invented this recipe, I could only get the white Diabetisweet, so I had to add the Black Strap Molasses to get that brown sugar taste to it.

Since then, My walmart carries both the White and Brown Diabetisweet. People on here have used the Brown Diabetisweet (and omitted the black strap) and said it came out just as good.

Oh, The Diabetisweet can be found at Walmart in the pharmacy section with the diabetic products.

You are most welcome!! Someone ran the reicpe through a carb counter, and I believe (with the Black strap molasses) they come out to 2 carbs per mini pie. Without the black strap, it would be slightly lower.

Click, There are only 4 carbs total in 1 tsp. black strap molasses so when you divide it by the number of pies it is negligible.

Tooter, approximately how many mini pies do you get from this recipe?

Jean, I read through here quickly...Did I read right, where your calories were around 910???????? Honey, that's extremely low!!! I know you were having a problem with a little too much fat (for your acid build up thing) but 900 calories is too low.

Also, some people say that taking raw apple cider vinegar gets rid of the Acid build up. It needs to be the "Raw" (not the type you buy in the grocery store). The old fashion type with the "Mother" in it. Do a search on "Raw Apple Cider Vinegar" and that information will come up.

I actually buy mine in a Large Grocery store in the organic section. "Braggs" is the brand name.

Now, I"m going to go back and see if I can find your post.

The Apple cider vinegar has something to do with helping the PH balance or something (I'm not a doctor). Anyways, alot of people think it would make it worse, but it actually doesnt'...It makes it better.

I'll see about a search on it. I'll be back.

Tooter, I haven't had the acid heartburn since I cut down on the fat.

I was using the fat to build up my calories and now that I have reduced it I just can't seem to get enough. I know it is a balancing act but I haven't had the nerve to up my fat intake yet. I want to make sure I have healed first.

My 91 year old Uncle swears by the cider vinegar and has used it for years. I tried it and guess you have to build up on it as it didn't agree with me. I have such a sensitive system and most meds give me every side effect.

Thanks for an old tried and true remedy.

I have a folder named LC recipes on my desktop. When someone posts a recipe, I left click and hold, drag the mouse to select the recipe, then right click ( ) and choose copy. Then I paste into MS Word and save it to the folder.

Well, as long as she doesn't have to write click, she should be fine!

You know that is a good question. I just don't know. I was assuming it was an overload on all of the fats. I don't want to give up on the idea of coconut oil so how would you recommend I re-add it. Maybe one Tbs at first? Or Less?

Bacon has never seemed to bother me and I still eat it in moderation.

Well, if bacon doesn't bother you, it's not fats in General. That's a good thing.

The next question to ask is What were you eating? Was it the Bark and was it alot of it? Did you add anything else to the bark?

I'm wondering if you just needed to slowly up your coconut oil..... or was it a reaction to sweetner? Or...combo of both. Or something else?

You see, there are so many factors. We are assuming it's the fat and oil, but we need to narrow down what you were doing last week that might have caused it.

When you feel brave enough, I would try a tablespoon of the coconut oil and see how you do. If all goes well, then try for 2. Stay there for a little while, before you try more.

Try to think about what exactly was different last week that might have caused the reaction.

Tooter,

I made the bark with unsweetened coconut, ground almonds, sweet-in-low and Stevia which is a combination that I use to sweeten everything, including tea with no ill effects.

I was eating 1/4 of the bark at a time and when I went up to 1/2 I started feeling ill. I was also eating 1/2 to 1 Cup of full fat yogurt during the same evening so I put it down to fat. I will try 1/4 of the bark again without the yogurt and stay at that amount for awhile.

Thanks for your help in trying to figure this out.

Hi gals:

Went to church this morning, and afterwards to the outlet mall with DD. So I'm finally home.

Was down another .2lbs (which is almost a stick of butter by the way). *YEA*

B: mock mashed potatoes & 2 mugs of coffee/creamer/sf syrup
L: 2 sticks of beef jerky
D: Not sure yet, the day is still young.

Oh its one of my absolute favorites. It reminds me of the carnivals back in Holland. Its based on an Indonesian dish. Indonesian food is very popular back there. It took me a long time to find an authentic recipe, at of all places, sparkpeople. Take it easy on the tabasco sauce, it was too spicy for hubby. It has 7.5 carbs per serving, but you could stretch it out even further so the carb count isnt as high. Pong Pong Pork Chops

Thank you, Pear. My husband has a "Thing" for peanut butter lately. This sounds like something he would truly enjoy!! I'm going to have to try this.

Yum, I looove peanut sauce! I'm going to have to try that one! I tried a package mix about a year ago, and it was very spicy. I liked it, but it was a bit much for the kiddos. I'll have to try this recipe, with the spicy factor toned down a bit. One of my favorite things to have peanut sauce with is cut up and grilled chicken or steak, with spinach and/or broccoli. I've never tried it with pork, though. I buy a lot of pork because it's usually fairly inexpensive, so we'll have to try that, too! Thanks, Pear!
