Lost and found, I never answered your question on the biotin!! I'm sorry.

Ok, most people didn't see results until they got to the magic number of 5000. That's why people take 5000 a day.

How fast did I see results? My nails started growing faster in just a couple of weeks. Also, the hair shedding drastically slowed down.

Now, I have alot of New hair growth going on. It won't be as thick as it was when I was in my teens (It used to be REALLY thick and they would have to thin it) but it's alot healthier now.

Biotin is a vitamin that is water soluble. So, what you don't use will come out of your body through pee. No need to worry (from what I have read) of O.D.ing on Biotin.

I read the information you found out and posted and you were RIGHT ON!!

You have to be faithful taking it, but you should notice a difference in a few weeks. New Hair growth takes longer to see.

I first noticed my nails, then not shedding as much...Then the new hair growth.

Hope that helped.

Ailuros, I had to come back to this post. You said "Exercising (enough but not too much)"!!

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Totally agree with this!!! Some people go crazy with exercise thinking that More is better. Not true. I have found the key for me (for staying in shape and being healthy) is moderate exercise. Like Crunches (for the stomach) I don't do them EVERY Day. Maybe a couple of times a week (If I'm lucky) I have had great results. I don't obsess about exercise, but I try to make sure I get some. Our muscles need to also "rest" properly and I believe that too much exercise does damage to us and we don't get the Physical results that we wanted in the first place.

There are benefits from Exercise, but I agree with Gary Taubes and don't agree with the "Burn Calories" Thing concerning exercise and losing weight.

Just wanted to comment on that.

The last time that I went on a low fat, low cal diet...I, also, exercised...the whole nine yards at a fitness club...could somehow afford that on my own in Minnesota...while going to school!!! Anyways...the exercising made me twice as hungry!!!! So, I've been kind of afraid to exercise????

Thanks!!!

My hair is naturally curly...I hate it!!!! I used to have it pretty long, but got sick of always having to wear it up!!!! So, I got it cut!!! I did not mind it until I moved here....don't have my own bathroom sink to spend time infront of a mirror to do my hair...so...basically, rather than MORE volume...I'm hoping for faster length...so that I can wear it up again!!!

Someone on chat gave me a great idea for taco dip:

You layer refireid beans, and sour cream and lettuce and cheese and salsa and onions and cheese and sour cream and layer and layrer and layer. We could probably substitute taco meat for the refried beans.

Just thinkin :O)

That's what Gary Taubes talks about in his book. What does the Main stream medical field tell you about weight loss? Do low fat and low calories and EXERCISE and you just have to lose weight. Calories in/Calories out.

Um...It doesn't work that way. Then they tell people they cheated, because they should have lost weight.

Or...The old expression..(like you said) "Exercise works up an appetite"...Then you eat even MORE.

Here's an example of a typical night around here. My brother can never commit to coming here to eat. So, we assume that he will be here, and cook enough for him and his daughter. He didn't show up tonight. So, mom was in the family room with my dad...I heard her say that she was tired and would be going to bed soon!!! (That was after she was in the dining room peeking through the blinds!!!) Well, at 8:30 they show up...after I already had the mess cleaned up!!!

All of a sudden there is life in the house. Mom, Dad, and my brother were having discussion. Hanah, my niece, brought a whole duffle bag of dirty clothes....all of a sudden my Mom is up doing their laundry...not tired any more?

I guess that this is just hurtful to me....it seems that all that I am around here is a maid...and I didn't even ask to come here!!! I don't get it!!!?

We're on a half acre in a neighborhood. I like that picture because it looks like we're by ourselves. We have lots and lots of trees around us.

We get quite the workout bringing groceries into the house. Sledding is fun though.

When you get past induction, you can make alot of things with Ground almonds (almond meal) and Ground Flaxseed (Flaxseed meal). You can bake with them, even make a hot cereal...and there is a recipe for a quick microwave bread, one for muffins and even one for cakes that only take a few minutes and are a serving size.

Here's one for Bread:

Three min microwave bread

INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons of almond flour (almond meal/ground almonds)
2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal (flax meal)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
a "pinch" of bulk splenda
1 Tablespoon butter, melted
1 egg

I make this in a 2 cup plastic measuring cup or different size and shape small tupperware dishes.

METHOD:
Melt butter in cup. Beat in egg. add dry ingredients. Mix throughly with a fork (make sure the egg is mixed really well). Cover cup with glad wrap, cut a small slit in wrap. Microwave on high for about 1 minute 30 secs. Microwaves may vary. Check on it. Do not over cook. It will come out a little "moist" and wet looking, never fear, it will dry up a little after it is out of the container.

I have used this for toast (sliced it and toasted it) butter it and dipped it in eggs. I have made sandwiches with it. I have cut it in cubes and eaten it like a "Corn Bread" with soups. Make it in a round container and it's a bun for a hamburger.

Anyways, there are lots of ways to use Ground Flaxseed.

Cod Liver oil seems to be a big help.

After seeing the article at weston Price, I did a search of Autism and Cod liver Oil and alot came up.

I don't know if that helps or if you already knew that stuff, but wanted to post that for you "just in case".

Ok, guys....I'm done "Searching" for the day. lol

Have a Great night, everyone!
Thanks so much for the info, Tooter!

My grandmother (she's 82) would always ask me if I'm giving the kids cod liver oil, especially in the winter. I'd lie and tell her yeah just to get her off my case. But I now see the great benefits of it. My great-grandmother used to give it to me and my sister when we were little all year round, a tablespoon everyday. I guess that's why we were hardly ever sick.

Sometimes we discount what the older generation tells us because we think we know it all but they really do know what they are talking about.
