Yeah!!! I know about the health insurance, food, and energy assistance...so, you think that I should go put my name on a list here and just get done with school here? Instead of going back to Minnesota? (I mean for now---until I'm done with school!!!----I miss my friends!! They are more like family to me than my own (parents, siblings, etc...).

Speaking of cars!!! (You'll laugh at this one!!!) Before coming here, my mom said that maybe instead of pulling my car here...I should just get rid of it and "we'll" worry about getting another one when I get here!!! Good thing that I didn't listen to her on that one!!! I'd really be stuck!!!
Get on EVERY list you can. So what if you change your mind later. Get on the list NOW!! Heck, you could always turn it down if you don't want it.

You can do this Hon!! Let's open every freaking door that we can, THEN you can decide which one to walk through. If the door isn't open, it's not an option. Get what I mean?

Go for EVERYTHING that you can. Like I said, you could always turn it down if you end up leaving and not needing it.

Tooter, sorry I didnt reply to your message earlier. I am cutting out the atkins bars like you advised and I have to report I'm already feeling less gassy. I'm going to keep the rest for emergencies only. Thanks for your advice, oh wise one

I do think our bodies like whole foods and complain when we put junk in them. At least from what I'm learning anyway. I used to live on junk (and still like it but dont indulge.)

I wanted to ask, and I cant remember if I already did, does the Taubes book speak about arthritis at all?

I checked in to getting my CNA license...thought that maybe I could work a couple of shifts on the weekends. The course is $800, but there is a way to get it for free...the only thing is, I would have to work full-time for a year afterwards...they would check up on me. If I work full-time...I would not recieve help with health insurance, food, or energy assistance. So, since they only pay $8/hour here for CNA's I'd have to work 2 jobs to make a go of it...so, I didn't sign-up for the class!! (I couldn't work full-time, go to school, and be a GOOD mother...let alone work two jobs, not go to school, and be a GOOD mother!!!) I'm so confused, and do not know what to do!!! It seems like if you work they don't help...you have to have nothing!!! (Which seems backwards to me!!!)

We'll need to go through and read and find out which ones to call. I'll keep working on this.

Pear....I told you that it was probably the atkins bars!!!! Didn't I.....Tooter just had to confirm it!!! While we were discussing how you felt, and what you ate...it crossed my mind that the weight thing...and bloating gas thing didn't happen until after your shopping trip last weekend....and that's when you purchased the bars!!!!

Pear, there is so much in that book. I honestly can't remember. It's one of those books that you need to read over and over again. I will "scan" it tonight and see if I find something. OK? (((((((hugs)))))))

Tooter...I just called the two housing places in LaPorte, as I wouldn't want to have Aaron change schools again. Their waiting lists are closed...which means that they are not accepting applications!!! They are booked out for over a year...which is understandable in this area!!!

Tooter, you explained my feelings exactly, thank you for clearing that up.

L & F, I think the frustration comes from the feelings of not being in control of your life, thus feeling trapped. That is the worst feeling, especially when you made decisions based on things promised that were not reality.

Your youngest son isn't causing you the grief that many teenagers do and sounds supportive of you. How many parents would give anything for that.

One of the most important issues right now is what anger does to us. We just want to help you through that without doing any more harm. Do you have a right to be angry, heck yes, but sometimes it stalls us! Then energy we put into anger usually gets in the way and prevents us from moving on.

I think Tooter and Pear have given great advice and if you could find a resource to assist you, both financially and emotionally, it would be a great help.

Please know that we are not denigrating your feelings, we understand.

On the positive side, look what you have accomplished with your oldest son. Wow, to be accepted into the engineering program at Purdue speaks volumes. My DH graduated from OK State and majored in mechanical engineering.

Also, the fact that the two brothers are close says a lot about the way you have raised them.

This proves that you have made many good decisions so don't beat yourself up over this. God moves in mysterious ways and does have a plan for all of you. Try to turn it over to Him and then get out of His way, relax, knowing that He will guide you in the right direction. Remember, the faith of a mustard seed can move mountains.

Sorry, didn't mean to preach but I have always told my children that if they do what they know is right (listen to the little voice in your head) things will work out. Not always what we think we want but what we really need.

With all that you have going, I have faith in you. Ambition, intelligence, great kids, healthy eating, a great support group with loving friends, wow. Don't let this bump in the road deter you. KNOW that this will work out.

Jean

Ok, I found a search engine for services in your area (I'm a stubborn old broad) lol

Community Information Resource

I went to "H" and then went to "Housing, financial assistance" and this is the page I got:

Healthy Communities of LaPorte County : Service Program Records for the Keyword Housing, Financial Assistance

Thank you, Tooter, that means a lot coming from you.

You have a beautiful home and looks like you live in God's country. It must be nice not to be crowded in on all sides and to be able to see and enjoy nature in so many ways.

In answer to your question, what did I do differently yesterday to wake up feeling human again, I reduced the fat. I have lived on low fat for so many years that I probably overwhelmed my system to soon. At my age the digestion doesn't work as well as it used to so I am going to start slowly adding it back in.

The only thing I have done differently this past week is the fat, my calories weren't too high and I have been eating the same foods except for the heavy cream yogurt and bark. When I went from 1/4 to 1/2 C bark with almonds and unsweetened coconut, plus the yogurt, I felt the effects.

I could not agree more with your assessment of eating natural. Those little additions of bars, etc. have stalled many from what I have read.

What a privilege to learn from those that are successful in maintaining and believe me, I listen.

Hey, I even started exercising, yesterday. I used my elliptical and a Pilate's ring and am determined to stay with it. It's such a feeling of accomplishment to discipline myself, knowing it will improve my health.

I am so thankful for this group, it gives me incentive to continue to improve.

I don't have much to contribute here, because I have not much idea how the housing and grant systems work over here, and none at all about the USA. But I think it's wonderful to see the help and encouragement, and the advice to get on as many lists as possible, so you keep your options open and move up the queues while you think about it sounds good. And in the meantime, come here and vent . And take encouragement from the others here who have been through hard times and made it out the other side - you will too, L&F.
