Ailuros and hippie girl, hello.

MomToEli and Tooter, thanks for responding to my question. I have always eaten protein late in the day and it hasn't bothered me before, but who knows, one's system can change. I keep water beside my bed and hoped that it would douse the burn but nothing short of Zantac would help.

Tooter, I will take your advice and lay off the bark for a couple of days and see if it comes back. If it doesn't then I will very gradually add it back. I may be one of those few that has to work up slowly. To be honest, I may have gone low fat for so long that my body has to adjust to it all over again. To many of the wrong diets in my lifetime.

I am so mad at myself, I spilled soy sauce in my keyboard so my grandson took it apart to fix it and found that it had fried so he took me to Best Buy and bought me a new one. It is the ergonomic wave style and will take some getting used to. I used them at work several years ago and know I will like it once the adjustment is made. It's slowing me down at the moment, though.

I hope everyone has a great night and L & F I hope your day starts off better tomorrow.

Jean

It sure worked for me last night at my grandkids' Christmas program and the "Cookie Fellowship" afterward. The thought of eating a cookie or fudge turned my stomach!

I will be using that tactic on the 20th when we have our Cub Scouts Christmas Party. It's potluck. I'm thinking the only food for me there is going to be the hot dogs and the dip! It is amazing to me what parents think of as healthy food ...

I'll add a good old fashioned relish tray and a low carb dessert to the mix. I know my son LOVES that sort of stuff, thankfully.

Well guys, eating has been fine today. I was tempted at one point to dig into my dh's Cheeze-its, but grabbed a slice of smoked cheddar cheese instead. I know it is just stress. Had Scouts tonight and I have a new kid (with parents) in my den that are driving me crazy. This family is single handedly destroying my home and getting the other boys all wound up in the process.

Also, dh isn't able to make it home tonight. That major ice storm that's gone through OK, KS and now Missouri is headed our way during the night and day tomorrow and dh MUST be at these meetings tomorrow. He would normally come home at night, but we are afraid it will be too icy for him to get back, so, since his room is comped anyway, he's staying. Plus, I was supposed to join him tomorrow night - our annual night at the hotel - and that looks out, too, because of the weather.

Ah, well. I've made a pot of coffee to put in the thermos in case we lose power tonight. I can handle losing power for awhile, even if it is 20 degrees out, but don't be deprivin' me of my coffee, now! So, if I'm AWOL tomorrow, just assume I have no power. My laptop battery is pretty much shot - don't know if I'll have any juice there or not. We have cellular internet and I'll have that unless the cell towers go down. Same with phones. I just love living in the Midwest

MomToEli,

I have experienced those ice storms when I lived in the Midwest and I don't envy you if your power goes down. Great idea to put your coffee in a thermos to be prepared.

I will say a prayer for everyone's safety. We will miss you if you can't get on.

Hello everyone, sorry I've not been around much. Today won't be any better - I'm going out this morning, then have to get the car serviced - which is in the same town as this morning's appointment, so I'll be staying out all day, and have to see someone after I get home. I'll be free about 8pm, so by the time I've had dinner and spent a bit of time with my husband, I won't be here much . I'm not sure yet what I'll do for lunch. I'll be at the car dealer's by that time, and they're a bit out of the centre of town. They are just opposite a big supermarket, so I'll probably wander round there and maybe buy some cooked meat and a salad. It won't be very exciting, but it will keep me going until I can get home and get some real food. This might be a good day to take one of my sachets of creamed coconut along.

I've eaten tuna with mayo (Tina was unavailable ), (ahem) quite a few deviled eggs, and two sausage links. And coffee with some cream. And I am absolutely stuffed, not feeling munchie. I entered my food on two different websites, just to compare them (Sparkpeople and Dailyplate - I don't like Fitday). And both of them had little messages about being over on my percentage of fat!

I'll be attempting the coconut bark some time this week. I already tried it topically for a "rash" I get ever winter - I guess from cold or dryness, not sure - and it's working miraculously! Haven't actually tasted any yet, though. I left it at my mom's, so won't be able to get it back until I go back down there later this week (she lives about 1.5 hours from me). I'm so glad I'm trying more fats!

I'm so glad you're a fat-pusher, Tooter!
I'm so glad it's working for you!!! Yep, even us oldtimers got scared of fat.

LF, You can get unsweetened coconut at a Health food store...Or if you have a large grocery store with an Organic section, they tend to have the Unsweetened coconut.

I live in a little hick town, so they don't have anything like that. lol I have to do my shopping for that kind of stuff about 25 miles away from me.

Thanks...Tooter!!!

You're such a "little" sweetie!!!

I thought that the store would have it right by the sweetened stuff...guess that their isn't much call for the unsweened.....?

I figured out why I didn't care for it at first!!! The sweetner that I used is in pkgs. (stevia I think...), it didn't dissolve very well. So, pretty bitter!!! Is this normal...or am I not heating it enough? I made some in some mini muffin tins...(2 candies = 4 tblsp)...and the same thing!!! The last candy poured was good and sweet...alot of sweetener!!!! ( )

Also, maybe in an Asian foods store? I know we have them in Idaho, of all places, so they're bound to be around other places, too. Good luck!

I'll keep that in mind....maybe they would be less expensive than a GNC store!!!

See how it is? To really eat healthy....you really need to look around to find what you need!!! Poor, carbed-up, fat-deprived loosers really rule this land...don't they!?!?!

Morning gals,

Up another pound. I had the rest of the soup last night, so I think its the sodium. My scale measured more liquid in me again this morning, so I'm definately retaining water. Plus, I had one too many of those advantage bars.

I ordered that book, Good Calories, Bad Calories by Taubes last night. I've heard so many good things about it, I have to read it for myself.

L&F, glad your day went better yesterday. Are you finished with the fall quarter? My daughter finished up yesterday also.

MomtoEli, I hope that you get through the ice storm ok and dont lose power. We had an ice storm out here a couple years ago, it really did alot of damage to the trees and the roads were awful. Stay home and stay safe.

Jean, have you gotten used to the palm yet?

Pear, No, I haven't figured out how to log food in. I have used it for pictures and for notes and reminders but that is about all. I just can't seem to find instructions for using CarbLog and haven't ordered Atkins yet.

I had another bad night last night and woke up with such a burning, acid mouth. I will post what I have eaten and maybe it will help shed some light on what I am doing wrong. Or, it could be a stomach bug going around. At least the sore on the end of my tongue is gone today.

1/2 C pumpkin puree

1 skinless, boneless chicken thigh broiled
1/2 C cooked cabbage

1 6 oz steak broiled
1 1/2 C broccoli
1/4 C jicama
1 Tbs butter

1 carbquik biscuit
1 Tbs butter
1 C whole milk/heavy cream yogurt

I was hoping the yogurt would settle my stomach but no such luck.

Does anyone see something that could be a problem? So far this morning, I have just had an Atkins drink.

Jean

Hi, Jean!!!

Sorry you are having problems!!!

I wish that I could be of some help for you!!! My heart burn got better when I started eating low carb, high fat. I used to not even be able to lay down...or it would burn all the way up my throat!!!

I wonder why.....you have been following so good!!! Have you been drinking your water? How about only weighing yourself once per week...as weight does fluctuate sometimes?

It's pretty normal for weight to go up and down by a pound or two because of variations in water retention. Menstrual cycle, illness, allergies, different foods, and mysterious unidentifiable factors cause variations. It's nothing to panic about unless it becomes a trend or gets stuck. This weekend, all day Saturday I was really thirsty - just kept drinking, and held on to most of it, so I was up a pound or so on Sunday morning. Sunday I
