chili seasoning-- I totally wing it too The key thing to making it taste Mexican is the cumin powder... so cumin, garlic, some cayenne OR chili flakes, some salt... sometimes some oregano (not too much, but ya, it's in there). Yummy.

What they put in the taco seasoning is some thickener, so you might want to sprinkle some guar or xanthan gum (natural fibers that thicken like crazy) in your food, like a full chili or whatever, but I usually don't.

Do you guys use keto stix to check for ketosis? I haven't in a while but I might give it a whirl...

Here's what I've had today (total honesty, b/c I tend to forget the little this and that thingies that derail me):
B-- not so much <d'oh>
some herbal tea (blueberry lemon passionfruit?)
some water-- now that i'm back in the office I need to drink more or my throat will never get better
L: about 1/3 a head of cauliflower, roasted YUMMO
about 10 oz of zucchini creamy soup (from one of DC's books... the soup with the cream cheese in it).
Snack: this is where it gets iffy--
1 turkey thigh, some dijonaise
a handful of homemade (no sugar) beef jerky
4 crackers-- about 11g net in that amount I think.

Dinner will be a small steak (8-10oz?) and salad probably with a few blueberries, blue cheese, and some walnuts.

Soren

I actually joined last June after I started Kimkins, I've just been lurking around since then (mostly in the fascination thread). I finally decided to try Atkins a few weeks ago, silly pear, started right before Thanksgiving

Dont worry, your 30 days will be up soon. Its already December.

Tooter, you look great in your picture!

So for dinner, I had shredded chicken with a little bit of cheese and sour cream, cheesecake mousse and an ice cream bar. (my sweet tooth made me do it) I came out at 19.7 carbs for the day.

Ok, kiddo...I can help you would the ground almonds. I make my own almond flour. I actually buy Bulk almonds at Sam's Club. 3# for $10 and some change.

I put the almonds in a small food processor until they are just ground. Then I put them in my Magic bullet (or a coffee grinder) Do a little at a time and then place the "flour" in a container and store it in the fridge.

It doesn't seem to work if you just use the food processor, it just turns into paste. That's why I stop it before it gets to that point and put it in the Coffee grinder/ or Magic bullet.

You can buy cheap Coffee grinders that will do it for you.

I had one and it lasted about a year (with alot of use from flaxseeds and almonds). It was a cheap one. One it died, I found the "Magic bullet" on sale at wal-mart and bought that instead of the coffee grinder.

Oh, and the 3 lbs of almonds? You get ALOT of almond flour out of that.
I have a powerful immersion blender called Bamix of Switzerland and it makes wonderful almond flour with the grinder. Yes, it is very expensive to purchase the flour. I just wish I could figure out how to make the almond butter.

What I should have said was fresh almond butter. It is to die for. Once you have it fresh it is hard to go back to processed in a jar.

I get the best tips from you, Tooter, keep em comin!

I'm here! Just a hectic day today.

I can't say that I'm really craving particular foods. It's more like I go grazing. You - stand in front of the open fridge when I'm not even hungry and ponder what I could possibly eat - then drift over to the cabinets. Crackers would be handy - nope, don't have any of those in the house. Hey! Where'd these peanut butter baking chips come from? Nice munching food. Of course, I've passed up the cheese, perfectly good meat, etc.

Ya know, sometimes I feel SOOO stupid ...

Fat may be part of the problem. We ran out of mayo, so every time I'd think of tuna, that was out. Can't eat tuna without the mayo, ya know! Hmmm. Maybe I'm not just a loser. Maybe there really IS something I'm missing in my diet ...

Anyway, I'll try posting my food tomorrow as I eat it and if I go to reaching for junk will post here first. I'll also really consider what I'm feeling. I so want to get to the point that I don't think about FOOD all the time, if you know what I mean.

You were all very chatty while I was sleeping .

Tooter, I think your weight ranges are fairly similar to mine, except my numbers are a bit lower because I'm not so tall. I didn't weigh myself for years before I started LC. Probably because I knew I wouldn't like the answer. Since then I've been a bit of a scale junky. I wish I could find the confidence that I'd still be able to maintain without checking all the time. I still feel that if I don't keep checking my weight will sneak up while I'm not looking . There must be a position somewhere between "scale junkie" and "denial." If only I could find it .

Why don't we try and UP your fat some and see how you do, OK?

With Eggs, I'll cook them in butter and then put them on a plate. I let them cool off a little bit. Then I cut them up and add MORE butter and mash them together (with Salt and Pepper). Mayo is a great way to get more Fat in. Coconut Oil in your tea (Do you have any Coconut Oil)? The Fat will really cut cravings. Add more oil to your salad dressing (Make your own Oil and Vinegar).

I know what you are talking about with the "Standing there looking for something to eat". More fat in your diet (at least mine) tends to take those kinda cravings away and you go "Nah, I don't want anything" and can just move on.

Keep us posted, Ok?

Hmm.... Maybe I was about 157?? Guess here. When I set my mind to it, it didn't take long at all.

I kinda farted around (Ironic with my user name, eh?) and for a few years went between a size 10 and 8. When I got serious, I jumped from a size 8 to a size 6 in 2 weeks. 2 weeks later from a 6 to a 4. That was the first time I weighed myself. 134 lbs. Then lost 10 in a few more weeks. Been maintaining ever since.

156 or a size 12 might not sound like alot to some of people (and it might even be their goal), but you have to understand. I'm not a very big girl. I have a medium frame with small bones and muscles, so someone else my height could be that weight and be thin and healthy. Not me. I couldn't carry that weight.
I needed to add to this post because Pear got me to really thinking about this last night before I went to bed.

Ok, When I got serious I was a size eight. I stayed that way for about a month and THEN things started jumping every 2 weeks (jumping the sizes). It's like your body has to heal up and get used to it first...Then it started quickly for me. Also, at this same time (of getting serious and doing clean low carb) I started Using the Coconut oil in my diet. Connection? Maybe, I think so. Maybe it was the fact that I had more fat in my diet.

Oh Gosh.

Lee Greenwood is on Fox Singing "God Bless the Usa".

I can't listen to this song without crying.

My Son was in the Marines and Stationed in Iraq. During the Battle of Fallujah, I didn't know if he was alive or dead at times (I stayed clued to the TV). Thankfully, he made it out of the battle alive, but alot of his buddies didn't.

He just lost another one over there last year.

Sorry. That song "Gets to me" every time I hear it. It's a beautiful song, but I can't hear it without crying.

Sorry about that.

God Bless the Troops and keep them in your prayers.

Good morning, everybody! Welcome Momtoeli, and big congrats to L and F for your swoosh! You've been working so hard, don't let other people sway you from what is so good for you (the pizza pressurer)! Every pound lost and kept off will make you so much healthier and add years to your life. I've been trying to be more heart healthy since my 40's. We can do this plan/diet together!

I have been fighting night cravings! What should I do? I don't want to keep eating cheese all the time, but that seems to be what stops the cravings. I'm afraid to make sugar-free snacks, because I'll end up eating the whole batch if it's there for me. Help!!!

Regular cheese doesn't stop my cravings. I usually go for something with fat in it that works fast. CO Bark, or I will take about 2 tablespoons of cream cheese and add sweetener to it. I'm just sharing what "I" do. If I keep my fat intake up, I don't get cravings.

I know, I know...You keep thinking about Calories, right? I don't count calories. Somehow, it's not a factor with the extra fat...BUT...That does seem to switch on me if I try it with regular cheese. I have no idea why.

Tooter, I didn't read your thread before I sent my last one. I know what you mean about worrying and praying for the soldiers. It is a sad and scary situation, and as I mother, it must have been torture for you while your son was there.

Well, actually, I didn't know cream cheese had more fat. I just thought maybe it had a few more carbs than hard cheese, so I've been limiting it. I LOVE cream cheese and will try that. I need to go to the grocery today to get some things, so sweetener will be on my list. And you are definitely right about my worrying about the calories in sweets, or I guess you would call them fake sweets.
