If you want this to be a lifestyle and to work...You have to get rid of the "All Or Nothing" mentality. That's how we sabotage ourselves. Seriously.

In the "All or Nothing" mentality, you blew it, you are bad and you might as well eat crap the rest of the day because now you are going to have to wait until Tomorrow to start fresh. Huh? Where is the logic in that? Do you see what we do to ourselves?

In reality, it's all about choices. You get to goal and stay at goal by "making the better choice" when it comes to food. So simple, yet we make it so hard on ourselves.

So, you had 3 meatballs. Maybe it wasn't the Best choice, but it certainly wasn't the worst. Just make sure the very next thing you eat is according to your low carb plan. One poor choice doesn't "Blow it". It's making consistant Poor choices that gets you off track.

Remember, It's all about choices. Stop with the mind games and beating yourself up. We waste so much time and energy doing that. In reality, it was nothing more then 1 poor choice. That's all it is. Don't give it any more power (And the power would be excuses to make more poor choices).

Hey, I have SOoooooooooooooo been there.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Unfortunately, my hormones don't always seem to share your view. But I'm working on persuading them. I'm sure they'll come round if it's properly explained .

By the way...cute cat!!!!
YES, he cooks constantly and it drives me crazy!! We always have so much food in the house. He loves to feed people. He's not overweight but could stand to lose 5 to 10 lbs. It's slowly catching up with him. He doesn't think I'm heavy so doesn't understand why I want to eat the low carb way. He thinks I look great. Men... they just don't understand and don't seem to notice the extra poundage as we age. At least mine doesn't.

lol on the cat. He is a talkative pschyo little PIA character, but we love him.

I've got a bag of chicken in the crockpot with an envelope of taco seasoning and mixed bell peppers. I'm going to shred the chicken later and have it with cheese and salad for dinner. It smells really good. I my crockpot.

I just finished reading Jimmy Moore's Livin La Vida Low Carb book. Its a good read. He makes some interesting points:

- People who restrict fat cause fat to store on the stomach, hips and thighs and actually cause their weight to go up because the liver needs additional new fat to burn the stored fat. So we need to eat fat so our body can release the fat.

- Not drinking enough water actually causes fat deposits to increase. Kidneys need water to flush out toxins in our system. If we dont drink enough then the liver has to help flush out toxins and doesnt have time to do its primary function of turning stored fat into energy, so we would stop burning fat and gain weight.

- If you dont hydrate yourself, your body will store the moisture it does have in your hands, legs and feet to prevent itself from getting dehydrated.

- When you exercise, you start burning fat right away. Someone on a high carb, low fat diet would have to exercise 20 minutes to burn up the carbs in their system first before starting the fat burn.)

Good book, its worth checking out. He also mentions this site for recipes Kalyn's Kitchen

Thanks for all of the good information Pear!!!

It's amazing how technical the human body is, and how it functions!!!! I find it all very interesting!!! If all that you read is true...no wonder obesity is the worst it's ever been...since our government started cashing in on our bad eating habits by presenting their food pyramid!!!

Tooter, Thank you, everything you said is absolutely correct. I'm giving it too much power.

When I first started Atkins I read on these boards for hours and was really into the woe. I never understood why people would post about cheating continually. I never cheated, I just did it. No grey area, either you ate clean or don't bother. lol, I don't know what happened to change that way of thinking, but I need to wrap my brain around the concept of just 'do it!'

Thanks for the support

Welcome, Backspace1, we hope to see you here every day, that would be great and if posting what you eat helps, then post away.

Our Tooter is so full of information and speaks from experience. I think that is the main reason this thread is so successful. We have others, also, that have helped me.

BTW, love the cat!

Ailuros, I hope as the day wears on that you are feeling even better, at least you will by the end of the week.

Lost & Found, how are you feeling? Any problems with fatigue or cravings as you detox?

Unfortunately, the only things I have exercised today are my jaws and fingers. Well, I did do a bit of housework. I think that should count double, don't you?

It's a beautiful day but a bit cool at 61 degrees.

The omelet was fantastic. I asked the young man to add as many veggies as possible and he did! I think it is the best I have ever had and told him so. I also ate some bacon, sausage and a baby leaf lettuce/spinach salad with grape tomatoes. I am having jicama, mushrooms, broccoli with blue cheese crumbles when I get hungry. It is all cut up, weighed and ready if I ever work off this brunch.

Have a great rest of the day.

Jean

Hi, Jean!!! I'm feeling very restless for some reason?!? Can't seem to sit still, but need to get my homework done by midnight!!! Haven't had cravings for a few days, but am not to the point of not getting hungry at times...I thought that our appetites are suppose to disappear!!! Oh well!!! It's not a STARVING feeling...just a nagging feeling!!!

Mmmmmm....thanks for this recipe. Can't wait to try it.

I printed this one and the breakfast balls for my lc cookbook. I especially like the breakfast balls recipe and will have to buy the ingredients this week. I start work at 5am, so no time in the morning to be making breakfast. I'm so sick of eggs and these will be a great alternative.

Yes, but only because I eat more veggies like cucumbers and celery. At least I think that's the reason for the hic-ups.

I get hiccups sometimes, but haven't noticed any change in frequency eating LC.

I'm off to bed now (11pm here). See you in the morning .

The mousse turned out with a stiffer texture than I had anticipated. Still good, but not creamy.

Another favorite of mine:

Pork Saute

4 pork loin chops
1 medium onion, sliced thin
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp hot mustard
2 tsp Splenda
2 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp tabasco sauce
4 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 cup water
1 tsp powdered ginger

In a non-stick skillet saute' onion and garlic with a small amount of water until onion is translucent and set aside.
Trim all fat from chops and make small cuts through any membrane on the outside to prevent chops from curling.
Brown pork chops on both sides and then return onions and garlic to pan.
Mix the rest of the ingredients to make a sauce, thin with more water if needed.
Add to pan chops, onions and garlic and heat through.

Chicken breasts can be used instead of pork.

Original recipe said to serve with rice, but you can eat with a salad.

Number of Servings: 4
16g fat, 7.5 carbs, 270 calories, 24 protein

Pear,

Maybe try 2/3rds or 1/2 box of the jello for a creamier texture next time? Or double all ingredients except the jello.

Will have to try the mousse this week with cranberry jello.
