I'm down a little now under my pre-Thanksgiving weight. I didnt realize how long it would take to get it off (since this is induction, thought the weight would fly off). My ketostix were mauve this morning, I think its a mild ketosis. I'm not sure what is throwing me off, but I'm having a hard time staying under 20 carbs a day. I've decided to cut out the coffee with the SF creamer to save 4 carbs.

Yesterday:

B: 2 HB Eggs, Canadian Bacon, Fiber (4 net carbs in the fiber, but its worth it)
L: Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing & Turkey
D: Quiche with Turkey, Cheese & Vegetables
S: 3 carb Ice Cream Bar from Safeway (wow, that was good)

Today:
B: Canadian Bacon, Fiber
L: Leftover Quiche
D: Chicken & Salad
S: I'm hoping for another Ice Cream Bar.

We have two yorkies (actually one is half westie - a workie!) We really enjoy them. They have so much character and always so happy to see us when we come home. Andy is wearing his Christmas sweater now, he loves clothes. AJ prefers to be naked.

Pear, the Ice Cream bars could be throwing you off. They are what alot of people call "Franken Foods" and tend to stall or slow down people's weight loss.

I like stuff like that too, but I Know full well when I eat it that the scales will be up a pound the next day and it's something that I can't have all the time.

How often are you eating stuff like that? Could you limit it to Once a week and see if that helps?

A Workie!! That's so cute!

Okay, taking another break from "work." Tooter, thanks for the snack ideas. I had completely forgotten about the rollup things, but yours with green onion sounds better than mine. I love onions! and garlic!

Hey all you oldies and newbies -

My diet went down the drain along with my health this week. What started as an earache turned out to be 2 ear infections and a sinus infection. I'm exhausted all the time. Anyway - I know I'll be better soon. The good news is my weight is 8 pounds less then it was last time I saw my doctor.

I surprised my husband with tickets to see John Fogerty in concert in Chicago Wednesday night for his birthday. The show was great! He's 62 years old and sings like he's 25.

Here's a pic of some of the oldies from this website. CentralPA had Christmas cards made up for us a few years ago:

CentralPA, Stonecreek, LindaJ, flowerpower, PattyN, and Lynnjp

The photo was taken at one of the pigroasts that Stone hosted quite a few years back in Kentucky.

I have lots of photos from the 2000 and 2001 pigroasts. I have photos of Lo, Mangus, Dana and Catman from one of our trips to Las Vegas, and photos of Lo and Stonecreek from their visits at my place. They are all the old fashioned kind that I will have to scan, though.

OK, I'm going back to bed now. bye!

Yesterday was the first time I had an ice cream bar, I guess I'll eat them sparingly. I only have 11 left in the freezer.

No, I was just trying to help you out with why it might be slower.

My husband is one of those people that eats low carb Ice cream every night and can still lose weight! Not everyone is the same. I was just pointing out that alot of people do have problems with it.

Don't take my "word" for it. I am speaking from my own experience and you might be totally different.

Other people, having the "Frankenfoods" actually helps them because it keeps them from eating the higher carb foods.

See what I am trying to say? Learn about yourself and make the "Better" choice for you.

You know, i found out when I first did the Atkins diet and had gotten to the maintenance part, that eating foods that were SF made me crave more things. Maybe I'm just crazy. I would eat the right kind of SF, but maybe because I'm such a sweets person, I was fooling my brain and it wanted MORE MORE MORE! And I wanted more of everything, so I used more cream, more cheese, and my weight started coming back. That's when I went off the plan. I hate to keep calling it a diet, because the food is definitely not what people think is diet food: styrofoam and twigs.

Wow, it's just after ten in the morning, here, and so much good information. I soak it all in.

I have read and read over the past couple of months, learning all I can about this way of life and I have to say that you girls are right on target with your advice. Sometimes you will remind me of something, other times a new idea. What a blessing this place has been for me.

Thanks to everyone for sharing.

IMBC and Tooter, I know exactly what you mean, it is the mind set fostered by so many years of teachings that fat is our enemy.

Well, look what has happened to our society since the 50's when they revolutionized our food pyramid, they put grains as the foundation of our diet. That speaks volumes.

My granddaughter, Amanda, has a 1/2 Cocker Spaniel-1/4 Lhasa Apso-1/4 Poodle designer dog, called a Cocka-lhasa-poo. I was so disappointed that my daughter paid so much for him when she could have rescued a good dog from the pound. Having said that, we love Blue to pieces.

I just did something weird and the reply I was typing disappeared! Oh well, I'll type it again. What does DH mean? I know the h is for husband, but the d? also, where do I find the "Fascination" forum? maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

I'm aabout to have a piece of my LC deep dish pizza for a big snack, although it's not a big piece. I had spinach salad with 7 chopped almonds and asian dressing for lunch. I'm craving my fav chai tea: sweet coconut tai.

Jeanran, Blue is too cute! I must have been changing my picture when you were, because when I finished and came back to the "chat", there was Blue! How about that! Mine is a goofy picture of me with Sophie on the left and Minnie on the right.

It's me again. Welcome, Tzfradaha. I just joined yesterday and already love the people here.

You're right jeanran about the great info on this site and the fact that people think we have to have grains. I'm still stuck on that, so I'm going to get the book Tooter was talking about by Gary Traube to help me figure things out a little better.

I forgot to say welcome to Imustbecrazy and Tzfradaha. This is a great support thread. I love it here.

Tooter, thanks for the tip on the Frankenfoods. I'll keep the bars for treats. Its nice to have something that is a splurge (but really isnt) available. It must be a mental thing, but its nice to know its there and I CAN have it.

I've been sipping tea all morning, it makes me feel all warm and cozy when its so cold out.

Oh, and DH = Darling Husband, sometimes read at De Husband. You'll also see DW for wife, DD for daughter, DS for son, DMIL as mother-in-law, etc.

I also forgot to say welcome to Imustbecrazy and Tzfradaha, I hope you gain as much as I have from this thread.

Tooter and Winslow are awesome with their common sense and experience and willingness to help those of us learning how to get healthier. They are living proof that it can be done.

It's also a fun place to let your hair down and enjoy yourself while learning.

Thanks, IMBC, I love your babies, too. You also had a new picture up when I came back. GMTA (great minds think alike)

I saw on a news type talk show one time that our "lovely government" somehow makes money on corn, grains, etc...., and that is why they changed the food pyramid!!! It really wouldn't surprise me AT ALL!!!

Ok, the Fascination Threads are under "Weight Loss Plans", then "Other Plans", then "Kimmer Threads" I know, it's hard to remember.

Here is a link to the room:

Kimmer Threads - Low Carb Friends

There are 10 threads in the Fascination threads. Yes, we are a busy bunch over there. One subject, Kimmer and kimkins and it's fraud. 1 is the start of it and 10 is where we are at now. If you have the time you can see the whole thing unfold.

I hope that helped.

Tooter

Hello!!! Thanks for all of your words of wisdom this morning!!

I looked in the health food section of the local grocery store today...and low and behold there was some coconut oil!!! It was not liquid though, and it was $5. I didn't get any...I didn't know if this was the right stuff!!!

I got some diet rootbeer and some whipping cream (the real stuff in a carton)....I saw where you can take diet rootbeer and put a little cream in it...stir real well...add a little ice...and it's suppose to taste like a rootbeer float!!! Thought that I could have a treat....since it's been one week!!! (No Carbs anyways!!!)

DON'T BE MAD!!!! No.....I didn't cheat, but I went on the scale.....still only two pounds!!!!!

So far today:

eggs (scrammbled in real butter) and bacon
Slices of left over pork roast
couple slices of hard salami with mayo on them
hand ful of BBQ pork rinds

My mother saw me today and she said that my face looks smaller (less puffy) How could this be from a measly 2 pounds?

Lost and found, Honey...The Coconut Oil will be a Solid until about 76* (It almost looks like crisco) In the summer, if it's hot in your house it will be a liquid, most times a solid. I am so sorry if I didn't explain myself.

The rootbeer with cream is good.

I won't be mad at ya with the scales, but try and stay away from them.
