Evening Campers,
Mug welcome back, I remember you good to see you've come back to camp. As Adam said post often. Oh Alex Alex Alex, I hope the Rockies had a nice rest they'll need it. Went to the cardiologist today said everything is looking good. Set up a stress test for mid December. Can't wait. He said I'll be on my meds for at least a year then probably cut down the asprin and get rid of the plavix. Chris good to see you survived the vaca. and are jumping back into camp. Might be time to start running aroud the lake a few times. Marvin I'd keep some snacks handy incase you get the urge. Peanuts, tuna packets, cheese sticks, beef sticks or jerky. Ed out

Confidence.
I used to use it for good, now i use it for evil. As I lost weight, i gained confidence in my self image, confidence in my WOL, confidence by pushing myself to exercise more. lately, i'm using my confidence to sabotage my health. evil confidence lets you push the limits of low carb because you can maintain. evil confidence lets you slack off on exercise because you can maintain.. evil confidence lets you fall off the wagon because you can get right back on. The problem with that evil confidence is that it lulls you to sleep with its charms and you eventually end up back where you started. 2lb gain is nothing 5lb is just a week 10lb is 2 weeks. 100 lbs is right around the corner. 1 day cheat free. 1 day at a time. i climbed the stairs (4th floor) at work this morning and got winded. embarrasing, i used to fly up those stairs. guess when you don't run for nearly 3 months you lose that fitness. false confidence. 224. and i swore that i'd never see a 22x again, and I'll swear that it won't be there on monday. welcome noobs and re-runs. we're all in it together, lets learn from each others mistakes and emulate each others successes.

Back on track!!! Worked my way up to 206.5 but 5 came off overnight. Ate well yesterday and worked hard at the gym last night. If I am lucky I can get back below 200 by Friday - my VFZ is still 5 lbs away.
The Walk is not looking good today due to rain. Maybe I can get back to the gym tonight for some cardio. Tomorrow I play walleyball and that is typically a good workout. Dog - sounds like your attitude is back where it needs to be. I agree confidence can be dangerous - at least an excess of it. Zam, Mugg - welcome - good to see some new recruits Ed, Colo, Warrior - nice job on the losses. Monster week Adam! Marvin - Keep a few good snacks on hand to hold you over until you can get a good meal - Planters makes 1 oz peanut packs, a slim jim, pre-portioned baby carrots, maybe some jerky or almonds. I am travelling in a week or two and will be faced with the same challenges. Most hotels have gyms and I find it easier to work out since I am typically bored after 9pm or before 9AM. I am typically an early riser so when travelling I am up by 6 but dont have to be to a site by 9 - thats a 1 hour workout. Have a great day |

Hello Guys....Harley is back and checking in.
Hunting was excellent (as usual)...the birds were up 20% from last year. We limited everyday within 3 hours which is pretty common in SD. Had lots and lots of fun...I will try to post some pictures after I get them uploaded to the computer. My eating and drinking habits were not good while out there. I ate a lot of carbs and drank a lot of beer, wine, and JD. I'm back on the LC wagon now, but I am sure I did some damage over the long weekend. I will probably not get on the scale until next week, so I won't get upset about the fluctuation in the wrong direction. Marvin - I travel a lot for my job (average 150 nights in hotels per year)...and have been able to lose well while doing it. Breakfasts are easy (most have the buffets with eggs and bacon). Lunches are okay too (generally you can find a nice salad and use oil and vin. for the dressing). Dinners are a bit trickier but most places have a nice steak/chicken/fish on the menu. The hardest part for me is to stay away from the bread and booze....not to mention the starches of potatoes/rice. Keep it clean and you will probably have a nice surprise when you get back and get on the scale. Keep working hard fellas! Harley Out (and back to clean living) |

G'Morning
Harley, glad you had a satifying trip, welcome back. Chris, you are seeing the danger zone and adjusting. You will do it. I got that nibble urge last night and nibbled everything legal in sight. Nuts, rinds, x-sharp cheese.... I believe the intense walking and weights put the pressure on my body to feed. If I could have let enough time go by and gotten into deep ketosis the fat-burning would reduce urge to pick. So, I am going to try upping salad and veges and eliminating one high-cal meat meal each day. I'm not depressed at the nibbling - energy levels have been excellent of late: Walking at a quicker pace without 'trying to', Desiring the weight lifts - just like days when weight bench was avail. I'm pumped for some good weight loss - no more slow losing. Cranking it up before freezing temps arrive. Let's roll.

Hey Guys.
I seem to be in a good zone right now. I am down to 194 so I’m less than a pound from VFZ and doing pretty well. Zam – I’m not sure if anyone answered your question about VFZ. It was coined by Randy and stands for the Virgin Fat Zone. Here is a quote from Randy back in April: The VFZ refers to poundage you haven't lost since starting your program. Example: My highest weight was 277. The lowest I've been since I started low carbing in '02 is 217. My weight has been up and down since then, so I've been losing the same fat over and over. So--when I get to 216, I will enter the VFZ, The VIRGIN FAT ZONE! Those untouched, undisturbed pounds of fat that must be cleared like timber! George – Glad you came back. Grp – Good recovery. Time to get back over that wall. Chris – Now that is the Chris Attitude of old! Nice!! For me that overconfidence leads to apathy. Apathy leads to slothfulness in all areas of life not just health. Way to change gears. Ed – Good news from the cardiologist. Now then, I’m glad the Rockies got to rest, they will need plenty of energy for all the running around the bases they will be doing!!!! Marvin – Some good tips out there for your trip. I like to keep snacks with me too. Also at restaurants I try to go with healthy, and if it is served with bread or potatoes etc I tell them to leave it off the plate. It is easier to resist when it is not on the plate. Mack – Sorry about the legs pic. Just don’t have one that is accessible. Harley – Welcome back. Glad you had a good time filling the sky with shot. So you went a little wild with the eats and drinks? As long as you can move on, and get back on track you should have no problem. Well guys, hope you all have a great day, and oh yes, GO ROCKIES!!!

Going well here.. sticking to diet pretty darn well.
Have a Halloween party this Saturday so I'm gonna drink for the 1st time in nearly 6 months. Also restarted my protein shake fast for the next couple week or so.. I know its dumb with the drinking but thats only gonna be one night. I'll let ya know how it goes. Been very busy with school, my last midterm is tomorrow so I'm prepping for that still. |

Totalling undeserving, imo. - Randy
Dang, I agree, Randy... well, not totally undeserving. lol You have been at Charlie from the start and have contributed much to spirit, and not only on this thread. You show good will all over. Yes, we all roller coaster. You would have so many folks here at LCF be so happy for you to reach Onederland. So, why don't you create the RanDawg high-life diet and lose it? I know it is hard not to have beer in the clubhouse but that is probably the single most slow down factor in our lo-carb with lite beer lifestyles. (That and wifes or m's-in-law that cook all kind of stuff and make one eat it! lol) Right, Ken? Just for the fact you honestly questioned Kimmer early on (re:SNATT" ) and she avoided you intially, deserves 3 stripes. Reason I know this is I was looking at Bier Muggs early posts and he was on Kim thread - saw you there - from like..'03? As to final stripes.... Any Charlie guy who meets goal and maintains becomes a Master Sgt. Tuffdog. . It ain't kid s**t with the Boot Camp motif but rather a mind set we want to keep at Charlie for men to eventually JUST MAKE it happen. The yo-yo-ing eventually gets old for a few us - me at the top of the list. Time to go only ONE direction - DOWN. I let Sarge use my computer all the time, he steals my password and I'm still a stinkin' private ! I think November will see some recognition for Vets, overdue promos. (reading Sarge's notes on desk) Got a lil dark skies walking in and pumped some iron. More to go. bkfst:coffee lunch: Tilapia w/salad greens - min. dressing water water water...... Camp Charlie's gonna PUMP YOU UP! -mack out Whoa, there's Pete... Epix, did we ever get a final say on that bio-job ? Last edited by Mack : 10-24-2007 at 10:44 AM. |

Good morning gentlemen. Zam checking in this morning. Scale seems to be stuck, not moving since I had a bit of a cheat last Saturday with a few glasses of wine.
Prior to that cheat I was down to 219.5, now I'm having trouble getting back under 221. It's pissing me off that it's taking me all week to get back to where I was on Saturday! ![]() Oh well, I'm feeling pretty good and I think my pants are a bit looser, so I'll take it. BierMugg - great job on another lb gone forever! currdog - Your post was excellent, and I can totally relate to what you're saying. Overconfidence is what got me back to over 230 again, when I swore I wouldn't get back over 200 again. It's great to see such resolve. grpsurfer - must be completely motivating to see 5 lbs come off overnight, what a great feeling! Alex - thanks for the note about VFZ. I like the term, but do I have to go back to my ALL TIME low before I start working on the virgin...I mean the virgin fat? Thanks again everyone for letting me crash the group. I might have posted legs, but I don't have access to that particular forum yet because I'm still a newbie. Today I'm on track, had tuna fish mixed with mayo this morning for breakfast, couldn't handle another b/f of bacon and eggs. For lunch I'll probably have a chicken ceasar salad, as I'm being taken to lunch by one of our vendors. Dinner will be grilled ahi tuna with some other veggie. I'm also running again today, trying to up it a bit without going overboard, but I'd really like to run for 45 minutes straight. We'll see. Have a great day!

Mack,
As much as I want to get to ONEderland now....I'll be happy to make it to the first of the year losing a few....just not gaining. That sounds like a cop-out, but that's where I am right now. Stuck in the 230's. Maybe I'll get it going before the first of the year. Currdog, We've exchanged barbs over the months...but I know where you're coming from. Good luck on righting the ship. |

Hey Guys,
Its been a weird couple of days for me. First I was awake for about 22 hours, then I slept for about 5 hours, then I woke up for about 7 hours, then I slept for about 14 hours, and now I've been awake for about 21 hours. The nice thing about sleeping for a day is that you can't cheat. Always gotta look for that silver lining. Winter's coming. I thought I'd post a link for those of us without gym memberships. I hope thats cool. As you may or may not know I am a huge proponent of Body Weight Exercises. I spent a ton of money buying info about these exercises before a found a free website with all the info I'd shelled out money for. The website is bodyweightculture.com and its got a ton of great exercises that can be done inside your living room. A lot of the videos are shot in parks, but a little searching will get you to the info you want. Cheers,

hey Ed, thanks for those clips, i do like what the guy has to say about enriched flour,
I also agree with him about his 80% , 20% deal, i do like to as he said " get my groove on" with some stuff, but only 20% of the time - I can live with that, ive been doing something similar to that, i wouldnt say 20% though, good clips Ed |

Hey Guys.
Jeff Francis looked like a deer in the headlights last night, and it got worse from there. Ouch is right Ed. The good thing is, game one will not win or lose the series, the bad news is the Rockies looked mortal and the Sox looked unbeatable. Could be a quick series. Eating was good yesterday but last night I felt like eating non-stop. I kept it under control but it was tough. I ended up eating more than I should but no junk food. Still at 194 today. I’d sure like to get the ball rolling again and see the 180’s. So guys, here we are coming into the holidays and winter and we will be facing lots of challenges. Halloween candy, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Cold weather foods, etc… What are we going to do to stay strong and not cave? It seems like a lot of us, including me, were “Re-Starting” on January 1st. I refuse to do that again. So what’s it going to be? I’ve got to simply refuse to eat any of the junk. I can’t deal with the “I’ll just have one little snickers, it won’t hurt” attitude. It always leads me down the wrong path and I end up binging not only on the candy or the Thanksgiving pie or Christmas cookies, but other carbs like sugary cereal, toast, bagels you name it. So, my plan is to stay completely away from anything not on-plan. No bites, no little slice of pie, nothing. I’m not going to enjoy the holidays more if I eat crap, right? So, this year, I’m going clean through the holidays!! Who is with me??? Oh, yes, Go Rockies? |

(cue "Rocky" theme)
Yo, Adrian ! - Rocky Ditto on the ouch, let's see if they can bounce back, Alex. I just spent a good half hour looking over 'Camp Charlie' 2nd edition - up to page 7. Doug H kept it going along with Tom912 and CGVT and in Jan. We saw Randy back and GRP, Ed,Chris and others join up then. Funny, Pete came back and said "I'm still around, emphasis on the 'round' part." (paraphrase). Good one. Saw newbies that are now gone-bies. Alex, so funny you mentioned snickers...before I got into old posts I was going to check in saying, 'Alex, step away from that Milky Way bar!" re: scoreboard lol Hey, I'm with you on the 'clean challenge'. My energy levels have been way up and the eats good. Why don't we start now with linking to l/c holiday recipes and married men and single CharlieMemebers that cook for themselves can bone up and get in the habit? I myself have been daydreaming about those mini l/c creamcheeses with a crushed almond/walnut 'crust'. Time to practice in the oven now that heat of summer gone. Yeah, I saw Ed post catsup/BBQ sauce recipe in jan. Good stuff. I'm feeling so good I'm thinking about posting before/during pic. I've avoided it for years. So ugly... those 300+ shots. Time to pump a lil iron. (what does every day lifting do...build or break down the muscle? I'll check in 'muscle matters' thread. I don't overwork 'em, just exercise 'em. Boy, if we didn't have so many guards on loan to homeland security these weekday crashers would get caught. But they leave nice things, not bad ones, so it is all good. (I did notice an open house get to where a "Livingston" left Camp but things settled down nicely.) I'm looking forward to reading rest of that thread. -have a good one be back later -mack Last edited by Mack : 10-25-2007 at 08:45 AM. |

Hey guys,
I had mad cravings last night so I made up a little sugar free Jello pudding. And I even managed to not eat it all in one sitting. Speaking of moderation control, the holiday party season has begun. In years past this would see me passed out on a bathroom floor quite a few times between now and January 1st. I still want to go to the parties. But this year I will exercise restraint. Arbitrarily I'll say no more than one mixed drink an hour, and no more than four per party. Our parties are sometimes 6 hours or better. Its amazing how much alcohol we go through at these parties. But hey, its Wisconsin. Thats expected. Just not for me any more. At least not regularly. Mack - If you aren't killing the muscle it should be ok to lift every day. You may consider working out a light - medium - heavy rotation. But definitely take off at least one day a week. Also, the link in your sig didn't work for me. Colo - Your clean holiday initiative is bold. I like it. Count me in with one caveat. For Thanksgiving it has become a tradition that my mother bakes an apple pie as well as the pumpkin pies. This started because I just really don't like pumpkin pie all that much. So I'll be having one small piece of apple pie. Other than that, clean through the holidays. Thats the only way I'll be able to close out the year under 300. Thats more than enough incentive to stay clean through the holidays. Cheers, |
