Good morning.
Did not weigh in this morning but overall I've been doing pretty well. Went out saturday for my brothers birthday and had some pulled pork and chicken, used some BBQ sauce so I think thats my 1st cheat in nearly a month. Beyond that I've been doing really well. |

Good morning, guys
Had a great weekend at the Wildwood, NJ.shore. Doo-wop weekend, vintage cars on display. Menu at a hotel had "Lowcarber" bk'fst entree - but they put on that cellophane- wrapped cheese product junk. Yuck. Fabulous breezy, cool miles and miles of barefoot beach walking and biking - but I'm holding again. Can feel it big time. Looking back to Oct.1st, I was 281.4 and I'm 282.6 today. Not good at all. I had that Kefir (Affair)Collision but know by end of month there will be an overall loss. I can "feel" that too; overall for month diet tweaking habit, exercise habit been good. A lil sunburnt and sore but overall good. GRP, you are amazing with the 6-7plus cycles - how is your BP? I hear up-and -down is not good for that but you lose it so quickly maybe it has no effect on blood pressure. Star, thank you for stopping over. Pretty quiet of late but you found some positivity. TKS. Ed, what did you have, a lightning strike knock out power or just a failure? Great warm weather here in NE but seasonl cool temps on their way. Time to clean the flue. Have a good one. -mack out

Hey guys,
10/15 356.2 10/22 355.8 I'm only down 0.4 lbs for the week. Better than a loss, but with 2nd week on induction, I expected a better week. However, as I thought about, I recall that a year ago when I started up that time, I did the same thing. And I recalled that like last year, this year I really "stepped up" my exercise at the same time. Looked up a thread I started at that time, and was reminded that when I step up my exercise, my muscles tend to hold on to more fluid. I confirmed that my waist measurement was down for the week, so loss is happening. Just need to stay on track, and it will come off. I know it will! Adam, great thing with the calendar to track. I find that looking back at the numbers I kept a year ago, and the forum posting, I was really helped to understand the ups and downs and normalize what this program does in my body. Good thinking! Ken, Good deal on staying the course. A word of caution on the kitchen reno, however. A year ago, I was doing a bathroom renovation and that made things real hard. Hard to prepare the right foods, and more likely to skip a meal and be ravenous for bad stuff later on. Not to mention missing water. Just be sure to schedule your meals and drink your water. grpsurfer, last week and the weekend is done. YOu're back on track now. You'll make it happen! Doug, Way to hold the course. You're so close to goal, it's gonna be tough at this point. Like your motor home by the way! That's like I want my wife and I to be living in down the road a few years! Pete, Great job on the maintaining with out many cheats. You've come a long ways....you are to be commended! Keep it up! Mack, Nice avatar! Progress not perfection! You are well on your way. Envy your walk on the beach!

Guys,
A better week for me. I think I’m back in control. The weekend went well with no cheats so that is always a good sign. Cold here, 24 degrees this morning! Should warm up a little this week, into the 60's for sure. Gonna have to switch to pants and long sleeve shirt during my hikes! 10/15 – 198 10/22 – 196.6 Keep fighting! |

Ok, so I've been on the boards for a week and just came across this thread. It's a great idea and I hope you don't mind if I join. Nice to meet all of you!
Quickly, my stats are as follows: Highest weight in 2002: 250 lbs Lowest weight in 2003 after Atkins: 192 Restarted Induction 10/14/07: 231 Today 10/22/07: 222 What else should I add here? I'm mixing in exercise every other day. I used to be an avid runner, so I'm getting back into it slowly. I went out 4 times last week, Sun, Tues, Thurs, Sat, and will be back on the trail again today. Thanks for letting me post here and I think I read the rules correctly, check in once a week on Monday's with new weight including any weight lost or gained the previous week; no women, and no emoticons. Did I miss anything?

Welcome Zam! Good to have another guy around.
I have to admit, I'm geographically challenged when it comes to California. I hope you're not near any of the wildfires we've been hearing about.... |

10/22: 311.6 -8.4 Hey Guys. Finally got the last of that water weight off. Now I just have about four more pounds to lose to get back to my lowest weight for this round of Atkins. Also, according to FitDay, I need to lose 1.26 pounds per week to hit 299 by the end of the year. I think that is completely doable. Cheers, |

Morning Guys,
Day late on weigh in. 10/15 - 208 10/22 - 205 Down 3 but its still not the VFZ lbs. I'm wondering if my meds are causing this stall I'll ask the doc tommrrow. Got to pay him a visit. Still on plan made a pizza dough out of carbolose flour. Came out ok kids ate it and they're kinda of leary about trying my pizza as of late. Had some really bad ones but this wasn't that bad. I also made this and let me tell you I don't think it's a good idea. It's out of this world. If you do make it be sure that you'll be able to serve it all or you'll be in trouble. Don't ask how I know. Zam, welcome aboard. As others have said post often let us know whats up. Mack no lighting just a big wind that took down a huge maple tree the in turn took down 2 utility pole with it. Sorry Alex I got to say "GO SOX"

Sorry about your bad day grpsurfer. You can get back in the saddle today, I know you can. What I've found is the longer I allow myself to eat badly, the harder to get back on track again. You are so close to goal now, don't let yourself down.
Todunlop, Good job with the loss! I saw "that" recipe too, and you are correct. My son will help me eat it (I won't tell him it's low carb), so I'll probably make it soon. And, fair is fair! Go Sox! |

G'morning, men
Happy Birthday, GRP Surfer !! Big 40 next year - celebrate by being in maintenance mode. Feeling real good and the weather is still super. Doug, I had that urge just eatabout a week ago. Wondered if it is the message from memory genes (any such thing?) to 'store up for winter' like bears or cold-clime tribal thingy as the days get shorter ? But the beach sure helped with go-go attitude. (good night's sleep helps also) Looking forward to eating on-plan and upping the exercise. WAY to go, ED- onederland, onederland.... Hey, cmon now - who has good legs? Tha ladies want to see them at that link I posted. Alex, you are leading the thread for this month and all that hiking - go represent ! Wear your Rockie's speedo thing and get over there! lol Ol' RanDawg prolly has some hairy golf gams he could display. I really like both MLB teams in Series but I always root for the underdog (in that Boston won it in '04) and since Rocks beat my Phils, I'd like to be able to say - Hey, we were beat by the best. So, Go Rockies ! (but I REALLY like Boston - ex-Phils Shill and Francona and the thrilling '04 playoffs) ok, I'm outta here Have a great one. -mack Last edited by Mack : 10-23-2007 at 07:25 AM. |

Hey Guys!
Had a good day yesterday. Things seem to be moving again. Now I need to string together a good solid week and get back to VFZ. Then two weeks, three, etc. We have some really tough times ahead with all of the holidays so we have to stay strong. I will NOT start the year poorly again! Mack – First of all I don’t have a Rockies “Speedo thing” and if I did I would not take a picture of me in it, and if I did I would not post it on the internet. The Rockies web site crashed yesterday, if I posted that kind of picture then the entire Internet would crash!! Doug – The overeating thing is rampant. That was me last week. I could not feel satisfied no matter what. I like Mack’s explanation… our primal instincts wanting us to eat to store up for the winter. I just don’t think the cave men had access to all the crap food that we do. Stupid instincts!! Marvin – C’mon! Don’t flip flop on me. Remember, Red Sox are evil. Colorado Good!! Grp – Happy Birthday!! Take a look at where you are! Now take a look at where you have been. Pretty cool. Have a great day. Ed – Nice loss! That’s more like it! Meds can mess you up, so I would check it out. However, I think your meds are really messing you up if you think the Red Sox are going to win the series! Go Rockies!! Adam – Wow! That is a nice week of weight loss. Now just keep it up. 1.26 per week should be easy for you. Just stay focused. Where is Randy??? Chris?? Have a great day everyone! And, oh yes, GO ROCKIES!!!!!!

I think my mind is right today and I am back in the saddle. Not sure what went wrong. I was at a pary on Friday night (after a good week of eating and exercising) and after a few rum and cokes decided that a little off plan eating wont be too bad. Saturday I just didnt really care one way or another - this bled into Sunday as well. Started the day off right yesterday but forgot about a company function and just reverted back to "I dont care" mode. Thank god for the scale because without it, I might still not care.
Anyway thank you for the birthday wishes. My gift to myself is Lasik which is coming up in 2 more weeks. Hopefully I will get some winter clothing as well because last years look pretty silly (that was about 60 or 70 pounds ago) Congrats to this weeks losers! |

first off, welcome Zam, post as much as you can to keep accountable, around here if we dont see you in awhile, it usually means yer up to no good
saying that ----> wheres Randy at? weighed in today , had a normal sleep last nite, i am back to where i was last week, back to normal operating weight again and it feels good, its amazing how a few lbs can make you feel sluggish, or more energetic gotta do some more kitchen reno prep work, so i will be busy this week, GRP we all have those days, it happens, yer back on now, so thats good, everyone else, like Alex said we have a bunch of holidays coming up, lets get it in check , going through these holidays with minimal cheats would be a huge accomplishment, me - im a little worried about halloween to tell you the truth!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Good to see so many men doing great, and let's face it, as men we have a much easier time than the ladies.
I do have to congratulate myself, I almost popped a chocolate chip cookie into my mouth this morning, but ate my eggs, bacon, and a cup of coffee and left the cookie on the plate. Small victory, but it's big for me since this is only day 10 low carb. BTW, what is VFZ? Welcome BierMugg, I'm new here too; also my second time around low carbing. I lost over 50 lbs the last time and I'm trying to recapture that magic and do everything I can to hold myself accountable and have others hold me accountable. |

Hey guys,
Welcome Zam. Been meaning to say that for a few days now. VFZ stands for Virgin Fast Zone. Its the point at which you start burning off fat you've never lost before. Like clearing away virgin forest. Mine starts at about 270, give or take. Welcome George. There is always room for new recruits. I can't stress enough how important it is to post often. If you have a victory like Zam's defeat of the cookie, post about it. We'll give you a virtual high five. If you hit a stumbling block, we'll kick ya in the keister and help you get back on track. Grp: Happy birthday man. Well guys, here's hoping y'all have a good one.

Adam, sorry I overlooked your good drop. keep it going. Mugg, welcome to camp. An Islander, huh ? Are you a Nelson DeMille fan? His settings are of that area at times. Zam, not eating that cookie was huge considering all the calories from eggs and bacon the insulin output would attempt to store as fat. Ken , you have a sweet tooth - get some s/f sweets in for yourself to munch. Esp. the choco ones that force library visits. Lots of walking done. Stopped to see a friend at Stock Exchange after trip to Trader Joe's in Center City. Got these pork ends of spare ribs at meat market - cheaper than ribs. Great with homemade BBQ sauce that I am close to perfecting to my own tastes. Alex, if the pic is legs only, who would know it is you? Hey, if I remember correctly - recruits have to post a pic of their legs to ladies thread, no ? J/K enuff frivolity. Time for some weight lifts. -mack out Last edited by Mack : 10-23-2007 at 12:32 PM. |
