Hi guys,
Looks like everyone's hanging in there. Steady and slow wins the race (when you think about it the race is your ultimate good health and nobody's gonna get there fast....and the key is not getting there, but staying there, right?)

10/8 362.8
10/16 356.2

-6.6 Not bad for a first week when I'm not back up to my max weight.

Goals for the week:
1. Find & prepare 1 new recipe for each of breakfast, lunch, dinner & snack
-variety is the spice of life and helps to keep me on track!
2. Exercise 5-6 times this week:
-did 3 times last week, need to improve on this. Treadmill is coming out of storage this week (after a move) so hopefully that will help in what has been our rainiest October on record.
3. Eat flax daily.
-this is my 5th bout on LC. 3 of the 5 ended previously due to serious issues with constipation (sorry to all who haven't had breakfast yet). I find that one of the "1-minute flax muffins" each day keeps me right where I need to be. Staying on track will depend on this. Plus it should help my HDLs a whole lot!
4. Drink water, particularly when at home!
-interestingly enough, I drink plenty during the week at work (keep a 30 oz. cup on my desk, keep refilling throughout day), but when I'm at home, (like the weekend) I tend to not get as much water.

Trying also look at 5 lb intervals as mini-goals, with giving myself some sort of reward (mental if nothing else) for making that increment. Hoping this will help me stay on track longer.

You guys have ideas for these?
For example, in order to give blood, I have to be below 350. Giving blood makes me feel good, as I'm doing something for someone else, and it doesn't cost me anything, except for about 30 minutes of my time. So, the mental reward at 345 is "Good job! You now can sign up to give blood!) Maybe the increments of 10 could be something more tangible (new pair of walking shoes, etc).

hey guys, monday check in

weighed in at 157

which is a 2-3lb drop from where i was hanging, feeling better there, but gonna take some pre-action for halloween thats coming up

and on a side note: seems i figured out a trick that works for me, if im going to eat something a little higher carb than normal, i find if i consume it in the morning, the effects are lessened quite a bit, to almost no effects at all. Not sure why, but i like it!

have a good day , and pray for me, i have to stay at my moms in the city for 2 days this week - as i have some training course to take, luckily she said she wants to lose some weight so she might not be pushing the carb crap on me !

Hello Camp, Harley Checking in.

10-1 281
10-8 273 (Very Dehydrated from working in the heat)
10-15 275.5

Did fairly well over the weekend....No cheats except for some wine with dinner on Sat. I made some crab for the family and it tasted wonderful. My wife and I had to share a bottle with a nice meal like that. I also made a pizza from the recipe room yesterday. It turned out really good....I didn't have sauce and it still tasted good without it.

Keep working!

Would have been better, but I fell off track last night. I don't know why I can't stay on plan this year. We haven't even come to the time of year when I generally blow up like the good year blimp. Back to induction today.

No change in weight this week but I could fit into a pair of jeans this morning that a month ago I could not.

Went out to eat a couple times this weekend, but kept clean as I could. Was suppose to go out for pizza Sunday on a first date but we decided to go somewhere else.. so I feel good about skipping the pizza.

congrats with all the losses this week.

Congrats to you guys who are getting it done!

10/08--237

10/15--238

Couple of stumbles, looks like it's time to go militant.

Weekends are getting me...peanuts and tortilla chips.

Thought about going meat and egg for awhile, but I think I'll still eat some greens and try to stay off the bad stuff and too much of the good stuff.

It always seems to come off slower than it went on. But that's okay. The motto for the week seems to be slow and steady. I think this is going to be a good week for us. I get the feeling that we are perched at the edge of a precipice. Seems like those numbers are going to come crashing down for Camp Charlie. Our clear headed moderation is going to pay off.

Cheers,

Morning Campers,

10/8-204
10/15-208

Seems I ate way to much this on this camp weekend. Tried to keep it clen but there were a few slips here and there. Like the pot luck supper. I made beefy sausage and mushroom soup which was legal but I can't vouch for any of the other dishes that were there. Meatball's, keilbasa, sausage and peppers. There were a lot more but I tried to stick mostly with the meat dishes. Then the kids did trick or treat around the campground and a twix or two might have slipped past my lips, whoopsie.

Marvin great job keep it up.

Tuesday

Good morning.

No weight loss to report, but I did make if to the gym for a good workout last night. I am sure I will be feeling it later. Have a golf outing today and it will be tough to avoid some of the booze but that is my plan. I will have a few snacks on hand to feed any snacking urges.

Golf will be interesting - I havent played all year and I have a wacked out rotator cuff/labrum.

Nice work this week. Not too many gainers, a few maintainers and some losers.

Marvin - I have given myself some incentives along the way. Early on it was food, then it became clothing. It was getting on a carnival ride with my kids, or fitting into an airplane seat. This month it is lasik. Whatever helps you get healthy and is motivation enough to keep you on your plan. The motivating factors are nearly endless. I have lost about 80 lbs and life is completely different - all in a good way.

Morning guys

The operation went well, now I am in recovery mode. They repaired the rotator cuff, scraped away some bone and cut and reattached the tricep tendon, his description of the tendon was it was worn out like a piece of rope that had been rubbing on a sharp edge for years.

204 this morning so no damage done there

Onward

Hey guys,
No changes for me. Can you believe the Rockies?? It has been an incredible run. I hope they can keep it up in the series. I wonder who they will be playing. They way they are rolling right now it won't matter who they play.

Doug - Glad you are back and things went OK.

Congrats Doug. I hope recovery goes well.

Just checking in quick. I've noticed that its much easier to avoid cheating if I post regularly. And today I feel like I need that edge to stay on plan.

Hey guys,
Doug, speedy recovery. Glad to hear there were no complications. KOKO.

Alex, congrats on your team's back-to-back playoff sweeps and into the Series, the big Dance !

Adam, that's what we are here for - men's eating hotline without a phone number.

Post, blather, rant, pontificate ...eg: the irony of best tasting calories not good for us (sugar prods.) and before you know it you'll hit 199. Takes toughness to form that habit- I know, constantly struggling with portions.

Well, I dropped 2 of the 3 pounds I put on from last monday..day late.
(knew the psyllium and seeds needed more time)
2 weeks for mini- goal of 275.
I put away the sirloin burgers after just one - no picking. That is another first (along with no purchasing TJ's s/f choco bar) If I keep tweaking I may get that good drop yet.

Great walking weather here in the lower NE.

Keep at it, men

Confession time

Guys,

This weekend was really lousy for me. I didn’t tell you about it yesterday because I was still trying to figure it out myself. I cheated. Totally went off plan. Binged. I ate a brownie and a bear claw while I waited for my daughter’s soccer game. I was ticked at other things in life and let myself eat crap.

I then proceeded to convince myself that it was OK. “Oh, I’ll get back on the wagon on Monday and any gains will be gone by Friday.” And “Sometimes its good to go off plan just to get the body moving and out of any ruts.”

These two sweets caused me to go on as overeating binge. I couldn’t eat enough to feel satisfied. Bad carbs will do that you know!! Dumb a$$!!!!!
What really pi$$es me off is my ability to talk myself through this and to rationalize it.

Well, here is the truth. I’m not at 196, I’m at 198. I’m embarrassed that I was not truthful with you guys, and I feel foolish for letting this happen.

Sorry.

Man, I've been there:

And bad carbs really do trigger the binges.

Consider your butt kicked (by me anyway) and now get yourself back on track.

Wednesday

Had a team building/golf outing yesterday. Did all the right things. I packed snacks, layed off the booze, the boxed lunches and the chips, etc. Here is the bad part: I was out of snacks by 3PM, and none of the food was lo-carb (pizza, pre-made sandwhiches). The stuff that was lo-carb I didnt care for. By the time the whole thing ended at 10 PM I was ravenous. Had an hour and a half drive back home. On the way home I went to a Mickey D's drive through and had 3 burgers - bun and all. I just didnt care about consequences at that point. Back on the wagon today and will take a lunchtime walk if the schedule permits. Up to 198 on the scale this morning.

Colo - Dont sweat it. You know what has to be done. I have been tempted at times to enhance my stats here but in the end the only one I would be fooling is myself. You probably know that as well. Two choices - move forward or move backward. Sounds like you are moving forward.

Have a great day everyone

GRP, if memory serves, those McD's will serve as a sure trip to the Library.

Alex, at least you didn't get out of Onederland and caught it right away.
I have 'went off' with some Chinese ,then Ben'nJerrys' and 'woke up' 3 months later bloated, immobile and over 300 again.
You get right back on the horse. Exercise! - one mile hiking on your hands should do it. I think if I was upside down my organs would all dislodge.

[ Since we are confessing - I am really a 310 pound woman named Slimmer !]

Harley, have a safe trip. As a kid I remember my dad having his stuffed pheasant on a wall. Pheasant under glass is lo-carb. Go get 'em!

Feeling good.
Hope to get away this weekend myself.
Good weather is holding.

RanDawg, peanuts not too bad, flour tortilla chips not so good.
You can do it.

Later,
Slimmer

Still going well here in Dallas. My exercise continues to be very light. I've gotten up to 2 miles walking, but my back can't handle much more than that. I don't have much pain anymore, but that disc is still sitting where it's not supposed to be.

Doug - good luck on your recovery. It will be tough, but stay on plan!

Alex - been there, done that. The last year has been one binge after another because of problems at work or home. The key, as Mack so eloquently put it, is to get right back on track and not let it turn into weeks or months. Now for lying to the camp, we need an extra mountain hike with more pictures for those of us in the great plains!

Harley - have fun on your trip.

Ain't that the truth!!!! That's my biggest hurdle.

Alex,
You did the right thing. I would have hid and binged some more. Come on back and tell us how you're doing today!

Feeling good...did 60 minutes of walking last night, then did another 35 this morning. Will hit 25 or so tonight.

I'm now officially moved! Got all the rest of the stuff out of storage today, and now the treadmill and weights are in the basement, though not put together yet. Should get that done tonight!

Hey Gents...Harley Checking in.

Again, not much to report. Same old, same old.

I am starting to get pretty excited about the annual hunting trip again. Thanks for the well wishes Big D and Mack. After the happenings here at work last week, I think I need a little break from the normal work and have some fun with the not so normal work (like hunting with a couple customers).

I will check in tomorrow...until then, work hard!

Hey guys,

So far so good this week. I'm really looking forward to breaking past the 300 mark In the next month or so. I don't know why its giving me so much trouble. Well, then again, I do know. Its all the stupid cheats. My buddy Damian is a behaviorist. He believes in actions causing actions, not thoughts causing actions. When I tell him I've got some kind of mental block about crossing into the 200's, he tells me to stop cheating my diet and It'll work out. Sometimes he's a wiser man than I.

Cheers,

Evening Gents,

I've been sticking to plan. Made some cranberry-nut falx muffins tonight. Suppose to be banana-nut but I didn't have any banana extract but I did have some cranberry x. They smell awesome can't wait to have one later tonight. I added in some sit-ups, and push-ups on my non rehab days. Other than that nothing new to report.

Alex, maybe the binge will jump start your losing mode again. Hang tough it's never over.

Doug good to see you got that finger working ok. Sounds like you had a similar situation with things rubbing and causing all the pain like mine was.. Rehab was worse than the operation for me. But alls good now. Good luck
