Good Morning!

Down .6 this morning. To be honest, I was not really happy with that, even though I know I should be satisfied with ANY loss! But, I felt like it should be more. So, I kinda think I will start weighing weekly instead of daily. I don't want the scale to dictate to me what kind of day I'm going to have and I'm a little prone to that. So, I guess Saturday will be my "weigh in" day. So far, I have enjoyed eating this way. Just need to get a little more organized so that I can have a good, low-carb lunch to make this work the way I want it to! I love desserts and feel deprived if I don't get something sweet after a meal so today I'm going to make the low-carb custard made with the Atkins Vanilla Shake that I saw in one of the posts here. I'll let you know how I like it. Also, got some good ideas for chocolates from the recipe files that I want to try. Just have to do a little at a time so I don't "fall off the wagon"! :-)

Hope you all are doing well! Check in if you have the time.

So - I baked the "shake" custard so I could have it after lunch. The texture was perfect - just like a regular custard. For me, it needed to be a little sweeter, so next time I will add a pinch of salt and 1/8th teaspoon of pure stevia powder. I think that will make it perfect for my taste! Very happy to have such a low carb dessert - made four servings at less than one carb each! Yum! Only problem was that I ate THREE of the servings!!! Well, I never said portion control was my strong suit, but at less than 3 carbs for all of them, I think I'm fine. So far today I'm at 6.8 carbs but 1290 calories. The reason I'm keeping track of both carbs and calories is that I find as I get older, just staying low-carb isn't enough - I have to keep under a certain amount of calories also. Just need to figure out what that limit is, so guess I'll be weighing tomorrow to see how I do. ;-)

Hello,

Just found this thread, am a 're-joiner' on this site.

Love the Atkins shakes and usually have one a day.

It's probably been mentioned, but my favorite way to enjoy to enjoy them in the spring/summer is to freeze them, especially the milk chocolate.

Just like eating 'legal' ice cream.

Will pop in frequently.

Hi Slendercate!

I'm so excited about the shake "ice cream"!!!!

Seriously - tell me more!!! Do you pour the shake into plastic ware and then freeze it? Does it get impossibly hard or more like a "fudgecicle"?

Cant wait to try this!!! Thanks for sharing and

Hi, Cacountrymom,

I usually just shake the shake gently from side to side, to mix then freeze the whole thing. I leave it in for two hours of so, then take it out, so it will be 'slushy', not like a brick.

I then use my kitchen scissors to cut the top of the shake off, and voila, eat it with a spoon.

If company is here, I also have cut the top off and put it in a bowl to fit in with the group.

However, I like eating it out of the package as I want to get every wonderful drop out!

Your custard recipe sounds good too, am going to try it.

Happy shaking.....

Thanks, Slendercate!

I got impatient this morning and after shaking the shake, I poured it into a Rubbermaid container, added the lid and popped it into the freezer. I used a shallow container so it would freeze faster! Want that baby for lunch!

As for the custard - I'm going to make that again soon too. Need to go buy more eggs first! Can't believe how quickly we are going through eggs these days.

I was down another .6 this morning (4.2 total) and now I will wait a week to weigh again. When I think of losing 4.2 pounds in 3 days, it makes it worth the effort. I know the losses will slow down, but I would be thrilled if I could lose a couple (or more!) pounds a week! My mini goal is to get down to 175 by the end of August... we'll see...

Hope you all have a great Sunday! Blessings!!!

Wanted to give an update on my shake "ice cream". It was a major FAIL. I didn't even wait for it to get completely frozen and it's a good thing I didn't. The part around the edges of the container were VERY hard and icy crystalized - not the creamy texture that I would have expected since I find Atkin's shakes pretty smooth. It was almost like eating chocolate ice cubes and the middle, of course was completely liquid. Anyway... I will probably not try this again since my results were not what I was hoping for. Now, I do have a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker and am thinking that it might actually turn out well in it, but for now, I'll stick with Carb Smart ice cream and other treats.

This is in no way a criticism of you or your suggestion, Slendercate! I'm sure my method was the problem and glad that what you do works for you. Sometimes what works for one person, doesn't work for another. Maybe the custard will be your flop. (Hope not though!)

WOE: Atkins - 2 shakes per day/lc meal
Start Date: November 16, 2001
Hello, nurseypoo5 .... I haven't been around for a while. I have put the shakes to rest and am eating low carb but occasionally I indulge with a shake. I am just reading the posts that were here.

Maybe someone will place their input soon ... I wish you the best and will check back to see your progress!!!!! I know that when I was younger, it really worked with my metabolism, now that my metabolism is not as active, I haven't seen a lot in the way of weight loss ... I work out on my treadmill daily (1 hour on an average a day) to keep me stable with losing inches - but my scale seems not to move ... I am okay with this though as I have embraced it at my age .... have a lovely day!

WOE: JUDDD let me lose 30 pounds and keep it off
Start Date: Seems like forever - restart June '11
Just read all of this thread. I have always liked the shakes, but haven't had any lately. I have a few pounds I would like to get off in the next few weeks. Think I will try this. I do IF (intermittent fasting) so will have my first one later in the day and then my dinner.

I'll let you know how it works.

After doing JUDDD for a long time I don't have a huge appetite, but am mixing things up a bit now.

Well, I've had almost a shake a day, at least 5 a week. I'm drinking BPC in the morning (11am is morning for me, I work late evenings) usually an Atkins meal or some other low carb meal between 3-7pm, and a shake if I feel any hunger, before midnight, I go to bed between 3-4 am.

Tomorrow is my last day of induction, and I'm down 12.4 lbs. I did lose 9 lbs by day 7 and kind of stalled for 3 days, even showed an increase in weight, upped my water and wooshed 3 lbs in one day. So I'm thinking 13 lbs by the morning and that's a great induction for a menopausal 50 yr old who main exercise is letting dogs out to pee lol

I'm thinking of adding fat bombs, 2-3 a week as I do better on moderate protein, and think I need more fat. BPC is worth it alone to stay low carb, it's the best coffee I've ever had in my life lol!

I've gotta get back on my shake routine. I have been off it for months, and have gained. Not happy about that. Now that our schedule has calmed down I can get back on track.

My Favorite flavor is Cafe Caramel...yum!
