WOE: Atkins - 2 shakes per day/lc meal

Just wanted to share something . . . I was reviewing my handwritten journal and found some interesting comparisons:

Looking back to January of this year, it took me approximately three months to lose 9 lbs.-- on January 6, 2006, I was 161 lbs and on April 7, 2006 I reached 152 lbs. What a struggle!

On November 1, 2006, my weight was 161 -- but this time around, I reached 152 lbs within one month and 5 days when I implemented the Atkins Advantage Shakes routine. I guess the combination of lowering calories and carbs, along with the exercise, made a huge difference for me. I never focused on the calorie-lowering side of my way of eating before, just the carbs. But as I age, I see that it is becoming a critical part of my weight loss plan, because of the metabolism slowing down.

Keeping the handwritten journal really helps me to understand personal weight loss successes (and setbacks) as well as need for improvement. I highly recommend keeping a journal.

Delynmonet - amazing that you are stating this. I just explained to a lady in my other post why i was having success this time around and I mentioned to her that i am now mediumcarbing along w/low calorie counting. It is doing wonders for me. Wow.

Low Calorie and Low Carb Counting Works Together!

sosolove,

Isn't that amazing? Not saying that one without the other cannot work -- but the combination is awesome. I do understand that since everyone is different, some need more calories/carbs than others. Again, we must do what works for us individually. Nevertheless, sharing this information can spark more enthusiasm for keeping at the weight loss journey, and encourage more exercise for a HEALTHIER "YOU"!!!

Hey, Delynmonet! Another coincidence - I too get the depo shot - no TOM at all here!

Skochrose,

This is toooooo small a world . . . we are definitely able to compare notes. My doctor told me (when I was 178 lbs several years ago) that the depo actually put 10 lbs on me -- and the rest was me . . . .

So, believing that, I started Atkins and lost 42 lbs initially - then I was too small - so, depo does add weight but it's not like it can't come off . . . ha ha ha --

UPDATE . . . Way to go at 150!! Believe me, this is really strange - this morning, I am 150.8 oz -- that's an accomplishment! Truly, I expect the body to slow down on the weight loss again. Generally, it takes 7-10 days for me to lose a pound.

In the meantime, I will hang on and enjoy the ride!

Hey Delynmonet - all is good w/me. I'm staying focused and on track. I'm starting to lose the worst spot on my body. Its that fat that sits right outside of my bra on my back, right where the upper backbone is. I'm ecstatic! That chunck of fat has hunted me for years.

sosolove,

Me, too. That's that hidden stuff that nobody really can see. My friends are saying to me, "I don't see where you need to lose any weight." But, I know the truth - even that adds a little weight onto the scale.

Best wishes with your weight loss and keep up the good work!! Let's keep in touch!!

UPDATE . . . haven't lost, haven't gained . . .

Depo shot is due today but in past few days TOM was lingering around unexpectedly, so today the scale read 151 instead of 150.8 - so I am keeping siggy at 150, as TOM is most likely the reason for the additional ounces of body fluid. Within a few days, I should be back to "normal."

The challenge is the family gathering that I am hosting on Saturday. I will eat low carb and skip the pasta, cake and ice cream. Don't need it and don't want it.

One thing that is really keeping me on track is the fact that it takes about 7-10 days to lose a pound. Last week, it was amazing that I lost up to 3 lbs. (in reality, I will claim two since TOM showed up out of nowhere). Therefore, I am staying focused. This past weekend, I was able to fit into a navy blue winter suit that I couldn't get into last year . . . buttons closed and zipper zipped easily - I won't be messing that up!! WOOHOOO!!!

It sounds like you have the plan together to get through the weekend.

I get my shot in January. I actually look forward to it if it means no TOM. LOL

I have noticed over the years, in my case, I will get breakthrough TOM - the doctor claimed that it is normal . . . especially when it is coming out of my system . . . if I totally forgot about getting the shot, I certainly remember that it's almost time then. Otherwise, I love not getting a "real" TOM . . . it's the best in the world!!!

Hope all is well with your Atkins Fat Fast!

It's the holiday and I am sticking to my 2 can routine . . . just had one and walked on the TM this morning.

Saturday was a family gathering at my house - stuck to my WOE, 2 cans and dinner - no ziti, no lasagna, no cookies, no cake, no pie. Just salad, veggies and protein.

This morning, the scale read 150.6 and 38% body fat (3% body fat lost since November 1st). I look forward to seeing 149 real soon. Will keep you all posted.

Just wanted to share: Today it felt good to fit into a pair of black leather pants that I couldn't fit into last year. I'd purchased a size 6 (when I was in the 140's) because I like them to fit without having a bunch of air in them when I stretched them to a perfect size 8.

Yet, last December, at 168 lbs., I couldn't zip them up and my thighs were gasping! Today, approximately one year later to the date, I am in them. Thank goodness that they're right for the season! Talk about incentive . . . .

Still awaiting the countdown to 149 by the New Year.

UPDATE - Still at 149, but body fat has decreased from 41.0% (Nov. 1st) to 37.5%. That's 3.5% body fat gone.

Refusing to eat any of those holiday goodies totally paid off. There were goodies in the office kitchen through Thursday. The talk around the office was the New Year's Resolution to "lose weight." That's natural, which is why that is the #1 resolution . . . .

I don't like to start my weight loss review and plan on January 1 because that's too much time going by to add more pounds -- my personal weight loss review and plan starts in November. That way, if I start before Thanksgiving the mind and stomach are in training for the holiday season - I know that sounds a little crazy - but that works for me. While others are eating and gaining, I am losing to MY satisfaction. Then, that's six months away from my birthday (May) and I give myself the gift of a healthier and smaller body!

This is my resolution: to maintain in the 140-145 range once I get there. I thought at one time that 150-155 would be a good margin for me, but I was sadly mistaken . . . before I knew it I was 161 . . . can't stand it anymore. So, my resolve is "maintenance" - that's very important to me. I've read somewhere on the LCF board, that maintaining is the challenge. That's is so true!

Sorry to thread jack . . .

I've been reading your posts, and congratulations to everyone

I was wondering, I have Atkins Shakes RTD, but I also inherited
a couple of canisters of the powder mix. I like using the powder,
except that I have to use a blender to make it taste as good as
the RTD.

Unfortunately it is Winter and being the Hedonist that I am, I
don't want to eat or drink anything cold. Has anyone made their
shake into a warm drink? I thought if I used Hot water in the blender
it would be like a hot chocolate drink? Then I could put it in
my travel mug and actually have breakfast. What do you think?

I've been thinking about using Atkins Shakes to get back on track and speed weight loss. I'm so glad i found this thread. Can I use this thread to post my results?

I weighed in at 184.5 this morning (up 7.5 lbs). I'm going to spend the next four days with my family, so I will not be able to weigh again until Tuesday (1/9).
I'd like to use this thread to report my weight when I return.

robinkay - Sure, you can join me in the Atkins Advantage Shakes Routine if you'd like. I heard from another LCF who said that she was thinking of doing the same routine. Everyone is different. What works for one person may or may not work for the other, but just hearing what your experience will be adds to the board.

So, again, a hearty and I would love to hear from you!
