What's your menu for day 4?

Hiya,

So what is your planned menu for day 4 or 1st day off of fast?

I am not sure, so I am hoping for some ideas.

Hey everyone!!

Down 3.8 pounds since yesterday... serious water weight I tell you!

Feeling pretty good, I almost caved last night but I kept thinking about this post and that kept me responsible

I'm tea/water fasting, and I'm going to try and exercise, too. So far I haven't felt that awful fatigue I normally get, and I'm wondering if it is the tea? I put it into fitday and apparently I had 13g of carbs yesterday all from tea... is that possible?? I had about 7 cups of iced tea that I made from herbal & green tea.

I'm not really doing this for any spiritual reason-- just sometimes when I think I'm heading towards a loss of control I'd rather not eat at all. Also, on July 2nd I have an event that I want to really look good for (I'll be seeing people from high school that remember me at 125lbs!).

Do you think I'm really pushing it to think that I could lose 15 pounds by then? I want to be 165 by then, and today I am ~180. It is in 20 days. I plan on fasting until Friday, and I think by then I may be around 175 (possibly lower ), so its more like 8-10 pounds in 16 days. I'm asking you guys since you seem to know a lot about rapid weight loss via fasting, and I really don't want to get crap from people in the main lobby who think I'm starving myself, which I am by no means doing.

Thanks in advance!

walkingwoman--4 lbs down!! Woohoo!!

Oh, and these past 3 days have been strictly water The plan is to do other liquids tomorrow and Thursday but that could change. Some moments I feel I'm up for it and others I'm just missing food too much, LOL! All just depends on the time of day. I'd love to go longer but I'm so afraid of crashing and burning

Kawgirl--being so busy at work has its blessings and curses, doesn't it? When you're fasting, do you find it more helpful or more stressful? I know everyone's different

KUTGW Ladies!!

Samantha--Congrats on that 3.8 loss! I'm proud of you for sticking to your guns and not caving in! I wanted to give in too these past 2 nights but without this board I would've said to heck with the fast, LOL!

As for making your July 2 goal, I don't think it's beyond possible if you're sticking to a strict water or liquid fast but I think it also depends on how much you have left to lose. Some of the others on here who are more experienced could probably give you a better idea of what you can expect.

Good luck!!

Faith,

I actually find it distracting, my mind in constantly on the fast....that has been the hardest part about this....It has been ALL consuming! If I could shut my mind off, this would be a piece of cake!!!

Kawgirl--I hear ya! I know what you mean by wishing we could close our minds off. It's like, here at home on my own with 5 kids one would think I'd have MORE than enough distractions to stay focused on other things but sometimes it just adds to the stress

Then again I find myself coping better at some times than others

Hey Samantha,

You could do it, it's not even a pound a day. You could try the one-meal-a-day thing after your fast, then you're not starving yourself. And yes - I was eating only dinners when my parents came before vacation--- Oh you can't starve yourself!! Jeese - we were sitting around doing nothing - what do I need the extra calories for?? Talking? Bah!

I have found that to break the fast with broth and raw veggies does work well. After you get back to eating (for me at least) I found that sticking with more veggies (raw) and less meats, that I kept the weight off. Chew everything more, drink more water while eating and just take your time during meals. 3 years ago Atkins worked well for me, but now it tends to add weight as I forget to watch the calories also ... So maybe go easy on the meats, try more veggies and see how that works to ease yourself back into foods.

You can do it!!!

The rest of you seem to be doing well too! I'm still getting caught up on the posts... darn work keeps getting in the way!

Slim--I'm so sorry I missed your post or I'd have commented! What ya talkin' about girl?! 1 lb down during TOM is awesome considering most usually gain (I know I always do)! You have so much to be proud of for sticking this out as well as you have, I don't know if I could've. So don't worry, you are doing just fine! KUTGW!

Okay, good I was thinking of doing KISS at around 1,000 calories a day. I seem to do best with that? I have fat at about 55-65% of calories, protein 30-40%. carbs 5%... Also, I have a LC whey drink that I LOVE LOVE LOVE (JayRobbs), and I was thinking I might use that as a meal substitute 1-2x/day. We'll see how I feel... thanks for the encouragement! I learn so much from this board, I just love it

Day 2

Hoops, the vacation was wonderful. I'm so happy we went before the hurricanes started up again.

Day 2 for me. Feeling pretty good!

I know what to expect in the days ahead so I've taken up a hobby... I got a book in Hawaii when we vacationed there... "Hawaiian-Style Money Folds." Yes, it's a book about folding money into oragami Anyway... I've made a turtle this morning - he's very cute!

Good fasting to us all!

Day 9! 6 more to go!

Hi fasters! Feel pretty good today and don't feel as sluggish as yesterday but not exactly energetic. My breath is still horrendous. 6 more days! 6 more days! I can do it! I can do it!

Day 1: 140
Day 2: 138 (-2)
Day 3: 137 (-1)
Day 4: 136 (-1) TOM
Day 5: 136 ( 0 ) TOM
Day 6: 135 (-1)
Day 7: 133 (-2)
Day 8: 132 (-1)
Day 9: 130 (-2)

Slim -- bread ghosts!

mmam -- I don't know anything about your trip to Peru but wow, it sounds amazing!!! Sounds very exciting.

Hoops -- hi! How's it going today?

Faith -- good job resisting the chicken nuggets!

Hi LizBeth -- how are you doing today?

Kawgirl -- wow, 7 lbs! That's awesome!

walkingwoman -- woohoo on the weigtloss! Good job!

Samantha -- I believe it is possible to lose that amount but you will have to be strict. The water fast is a start but perhaps continue on Kimkins. Kimmer says 1 lb per day is possible. I was on Kimkins before starting the fast (easier to start fasting when I'm already in ketosis) and I had already lost 10 lbs before starting my fast, so technically I've lost 20 lbs in 15 days. A good chunk of it water of course. Good luck!

I break extended fasts with broth for a day (homemade and delicious!), then egg drop soup for a day, then broth and eggs, then maybe some cooked veggies and chicken breast and build up slowly. I have a hard time digesting raw vegetables so those aren't a good choice for me. I think of how we get babies to start eating solid food and try to imitate that schedule. (cereal, bananas and carrots are off limits of course ) By day 5 or so post-fast I'm back to eating normally (Kimkins or Atkins I mean).

Hi phibi!

Good Afternoon!

Still catching up on your posts! Good to see everyone sharing thoughts and their experiences daily!

I'll be fasting beginning tomorrow. Tonight I meet up with family members from different towns (meet in between) at a restaurant. I'll have a chicken breast salad or something. I hate to start a fast with a really bad meal before! Can't wait to get started again!

My distraction tool of late is a book of word puzzles When I want to eat "just to eat" I pull out my book, work a puzzle and it seems to get me past it. Hey, whatever works!

My goal tonight to keep busy is to pick a counter and clean it off correctly & completely! Probably go for a run/walk - 1-2 miles, and stay away from the Snack foods...

Hey everyone! Day 2 of 4. I broke down and had some hot tea this morning. I just needed something with a taste in my mouth. So I guess I'm doing the modified water fast. Today seems to be going easier though. But sitting at home tonight will be the real challange.

Hey what do you girls think about starting a phone tree for the next time we do a 3, 5, 7 day fast? Just where we can call each other if we need motivation and are about to break?

Just a thought.

Hey guys-- thanks for all the advice! Last time I fasted I did broth-- then liquid protein-- then regular protein... I was very successful at keeping the weight off for about a month... and then I've been gaining since. I'm just glad I didn't have the post-fasting backlash, which I always had in the past. Eek!

I also think I can make the 165 by July 2nd I'll keep you guys updated even though I won't be fasting the whole time.

Lizbeth-- I've been doing tea my whole fast, and I swear, it has made SUCH a difference. I have had very few cravings... and much better energy!

lcmommy-- you can make it! you can make it! can you have tea or broth to help you pull through? Also, how many days did it take you to lose the 10 lbs on Kimkins? I like lower calorie, but I try to keep my fat % higher (50-60%) so I don't get cravings. Maybe I'll try K/E, kimkins, or M/E.

mmam- how many veggies a day can you eat while still losing weight? How high are your carbs??

THanks everyone for the words of encouragement!

Lizbeth~ You're doing great!

walkingwoman~ You did great on Day 1.

Kawgirl~ How did your day go?

Samantha~ You can absolutely lose that weight in 20 days. Perhaps eating raw foods when you break your fast, but none of the other garbage. Or just sticking with fruits and vegetables. You can definitely do it.

Phibi~ A turtle! I do oragami with my students one day each year. What a fun thing to do. The flowers are awesome!!!

lcmommy~ Nine days with six more to go! You can do this! Is there something you have to do in six days, and that is the reason for ending it then? You can do it!

Nady~ How is QOD going for you?

Day 3

I am still on water only. My meeting was filled with free breakfast foods and juice again. Lunch was on our own, although everyone brought it back to the tables since we were on a very tight schedule. The taquitos and chinese food were so tempting. I drank my water and pressed on.

I am watching Oprah right now, because a good friend asked me to watch it. It is so inspiring about people who are in wheelchairs or disabled who are making no excuses, pressing on with life, and not feeling sorry for themselves. My friend is in a wheelchair from a work accident, and he is one of the most positive people I know. Did anyone else catch it?

It was 6 days but remember much of that was water. Of those 3 choices, imho, I think you should do kimkins. Veggies are important! for nutrients and fiber. You'll still have the appetite loss and be in ketosis.

I made it through the little bout of hunger! Wow that was a surprise!

No particular reason other than 14 days seemed like a good number. My longest fast was 10 days. I want to try to go longer this time. I'm going to bed soon so 5 more days to go!

Boy you have a will of steel resisting all that food today! Great job!

Good morning,

I am writing with mixed emotions, I am happy to report that this is Day 4 and I have completed my first 3 day fast!!!!!! I am disappointed to report that I only lost 1lb the 3rd day!!!!!! What is up with that?? I really thougt I would lose more, I stuck to mainly water, and I was trampsing to the bathroom ALL day!!!!

I have a slight headache too.

Anyway, I made scrambled eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast.....not sure that I will eat it, but last night it seemed like the thing to do.

I'm sorry to whine, but I was a little shocked this morning.

Talk to ya soon!
