Where are you "cruising to Erica"? I am cruising to the Bahamas from July 17-21. I have gone from 24s to very lose 22nd and some form fitting 20s LOL. Hopefully, I'll make it to 18s by my cruise or really close.

Day 4

I am so glad to be on Day 4. Yesterday, I didn't want to fast or exercise. I am SO glad I pressed on and did both.

Faith~ Awesome job avoiding the hot wings. You have dropped 12 amazing pounds in just one tiny week. You are doing it!

Greta~ I am not sure what kefir is?

Erica~ I have never thrown up during a fast. I am just on my lunch break, but I will read up on it for you. My guess now is that you have a stomach virus, and this has nothing to do with the fast. Again, just a guess. Maybe other fasters can share their experience and knowledge. I will do some searching for you. I hope you're feeling better.

lcmommy~ You're doing awesome! I am feeling awesome, thanks!

Dina~ It is hard for me not to want to eat the house, although my head is much bigger than my tummy. The tummy is smaller and can't hold much after an extended fast anyway. Also, remind yourself of your efforts. Eating raw foods is best after fasting.

Nady~ I can second that. It is hard to get into the spirit of a fast sometimes. Other times, it goes so smoothly. You're doing great!

Slim~ on winning! Okay, TOM I started TOM this morning after fasting 3 days. TOM is so much easier while fasting than while having food. In fact, I should fast the few days before TOM and during TOM every month.

Hoops...hmmm...thats very interesting that you would say that. I believe you have just persuaded me to do a 3 day water fast from Monday-Wednesday of next week. If I have calculated correctly, that is when TOM will be here. So that should be interesting and hopefully will get a nice whoosh when TOM leaves at the end of next week.

Slim~ Another couple of things about fasting those couple days before and during TOM.... No cravings and TOM is gone in 2 days for me.

I am so glad you asked about this. I am going to make a mental note to begin a fast when my little boobies start getting sore each month before TOM's arrival. Okay, I am looking at my calendar now.

I don't know what's UP with me--I avoided hot wings in my freezer for 2 DAYS in a row! Must be that I dropped another 1 lb this morning AND tried on that 2 sizes-too-small blouse I bought a month ago for incentive and...it FIT! with room to spare!! omg I just about fell over!

OH and how could I forget?! I hit my 60 lb mark today!

Hoops-- on making it thru day 4! Plus fitting in exercise too...Wow!!

SlimWithin--Congrats for winning the weightloss challenge! Wahoo a cruise! As for TOM, I know I always get hit with terrible cravings but I haven't been with liquid fasting that long so I'm not sure yet how I'm going to deal with it this next time around.

walkingwoman--You are so right, it really is mind over matter! So glad I've got somebody else to QOD with! Good luck to you!

lcmommy--You are doing fantastic and I commend you for doing 4 straight days water! I did the same thing w/eating too much right after fasting (even tho it had only been a 2-day). Tuna w/plenty of mayo--BAD idea!

Ericab--I'm sorry to hear you were so sick! I had an episode like that last month and was so ill (but I wasn't fasting)! I actually wondered later if that had something to do with my cals, carbs, etc being extremely low but don't think I'd have been THAT miserable if that was it. I'm glad you are feeling better!

Nady--I'm sorry you're having a tough time getting into Fasting Mode. I hope things are looking up for you tomorrow. My thoughts are with you!

Faith~ WooHoo about the blouse fitting! That is awesome! I crave hot wings... spicy garlic to be exact... while I fast. This is horrible, but I've broken fasts with them or Mexican food. I know raw foods are best, but I definitely don't always do what is best, obviously!

NBA Finals is starting, so I need to go watch!

Thanks Hoops! I actually had tears in my eyes and I haven't cried tears of joy in years!

Yeah those wings are pure evil, LOL! They are my weakness so WHY on earth I bought them the other day is beyond me! The more I thought about it later the more I've realized they just aren't worth the setback (now let's just hope I can keep up that attitude )

btw...hope your team wins!

Hi girls,
Well you’re the winners here.
And I ate an apricot yesterday However it was just one so after all I stayed on the fast, and I’m intended to do it for one more day at least.

And the question for the experts: what is the primarily food do you turn in after a fast?

Day 1 - 141
Day 2 - 138.8
Day 3 - 136.4

Hoops > kefir is a dairy product we're loving here in europe, come to visit and I'll treat you

Day 5

Good morning fasters! Day 5 (of 14 ) and going strong! Went to bed early yesterday 9 pm and slept really deeply, over 9 hrs lotsa dreams too. No loss this morning.

Day 1: 140
Day 2: 138 (-2)
Day 3: 137 (-1)
Day 4: 136 (-1) TOM
Day 5: 136 ( 0 ) TOM

greta -- wonderful loss! you're doing great!

Faith -- wtg on the blouse fitting and 60 lbs! Totally awesome. (btw I haven't been totally water these 4 days. day 1 and 2 I had black coffee and diet coke, but it's water-only from now on.)

Hoops -- omg at breaking fasts with mexican food. were you okay or did you have bathroom issues? I guess I shouldn't be laughing. How is day 5 going?

erica -- how about an update? did you get sick again last night?

Nady -- hi! It's definitely hard to fast if you're heart isn't in it.

Slim -- wow, fasting for you results in weightloss, detox AND getting paid?? You go girl! Congrats on winning the contest and enjoy your cruise!

Hi dina!

Question for all you ladies. Since I have about 5 weeks before my cruise, what in your opinion is the best plan of action to maximize my weightloss and/or inch losss and still keep my sanity?

I'm leaning towards doing a 3 day STRICTLY water fast from M-W of next week to get back into ketosis and then doing 2 weeks of induction using Atkins 1972 version of book.

I thought about doing K/E or Kimkins but I really truly need my fried chicken wings every now and then and I hate counting calories. LOL I might try K/E or Kimkins the last week or so before cruise.

QOD/Eating every other day...

Does anyone practice this? If so, do you notice significant results?

Slim -- I find it MUCH easier to water fast when I'm already in ketosis. I would do it the other way around. Of course, do what feels right for you.

You don't have to count calories for either of these, and if you're in ketosis, it's a moot point. Your cals will be low because of lack of appetite. Kimkins pretty much IS Atkins 72. Choose lean protein and eat your veggies. Fiber is important!

I just took a 30 minute walk with some jogs in there. Boy that wiped me out. I don't feel ill or anything.Only like I did a huge workout. I could use a nap now!

Well thusfar all I've had today is water and decaffeinated lipton hot tea as my throat is a little scratchy. Think I may have a grilled chicken breast w/ a slice of swiss cheese and 2 strips of bacon w/ a little ketchp and/or mayo for lunch and prob nothing for dinner or really light.

QOD Fasting today

Hi all~
Well, I ate more yesterday than I intended~ but I show only 1 pound up this morning, so it's not bad at all~ Today, I'm starting QOD fasting with LC on the on days until I get back to a respectable weight. Guess I'm suddenly in a hurry! It's worked well for me before~ but only when I do total fasting on the OFF days~ otherwise it just triggers my appetite.

I've done this every other day fasting thing several times over the years with good results~ but I've never eaten on the fast days~ think the 'diet' QOD is catering to those who equate fasting with starving or anorexia~ something totally different.

Have a great day all~

Tonight I'm going out to dinner with my DH2B, I didn’t want to eat and get sick? Being I haven’t had food for 4 days I figured I maybe would, so I decided to break my fast with a small Cesar salad..OMG Romaine never tasted soo good! lol

I didn’t finish it, I felt full so I chucked the rest and barely put a 1TB of dressing. I'm learning control and feel so happy that I can somewhat differentiate when I’m "full" vs. eating everything on the plate because I just "have" to.

HI !!!!

I have been lurking, I am thinking that I really want to do this.....

I have been off the wagon for several months and really want to get back on.

I understand that I need to prepare...is 2 days enough? I was hoping to start on Sunday......anyone want to do a 3 day with me on Sun, Mon, Tue?

I'm not sure if its better to do just water or not my first time....what do you think?

What should I expect; weitht loss, physically, mentaly?

Thanks!!!

I just completed my first 4 day fast. I lost 10lbs in the process..and my sanity remained intact. I did get sick on Day 2 but I think that was due to the heavy exercising & vitamin I took. Other than that I feel A ok. I did pure water, except day 1 I had 1 diet drink to quell some hunger pangs. I'm not big on coffee or diet sodas so it was fairly easy. Good Luck!!

Kawgirl, I am up for doing a 3 day fast with you starting Sunday. i just did my first fast last week for 4 days and I did straight water and it was not bad at all after the first day or so. I lost 13lbs.

I will do straight water starting Sunday. Check in frequently.

Ladies, I am clear on water fasting, but am still unclear on what is the best way to break the fast without regaining all the weight you loss during the fast.

Any good ideas? Experiences?

Hey all! I'm down another 2 lbs as of this morning! Today's my fasting day but I've had this pork chop thawed in my fridge and if I don't eat it I'll have to toss it (heaven forbid! ) So consider this another "partial fast" day for me. The rest of the day is going to be strict liquids.

lcmommy--thanks for the congrats! Ya I like to have my coffee now & then too so I don't blame you there. Next week I'm going for 3 days straight water... What am I thinking?! Just hang in there...I'm positive when TOM is over you'll get a big woosh!

I'm doing QOD...have I noticed significant results? Well I've lost 15 lbs now in 10 days and just fit into a blouse I couldn't wear last month so...you be the judge Might I add, I'm not doing it directly as posted on the link, which makes it sound like you're allowed food on either days, whereas I complete liquid fast every other day.

Takeelah--Sorry I didn't wish you well yesterday making it thru day 1 Congrats!! How are you doing today?

Nady--Good luck starting out on QOD. Guess you could say I'm a little on the impatient side as well I just find it easier to do, especially since I'm only starting out.

greta--You're doing great! KUTGW!

Kawgirl-- and good luck on your first fast! I am planning 3 days next week but not starting till Monday.
