You all are doing GREAT!!! Keep it up

I ended up doing just a 2 day fast (with no food) and lost 3.5 lb.s. I need your opinion. We are going on vacation the 12th of Aug. I would LOVE to be at 183 by then. So I need to lose around 33.5 lb.s. What is the fastest way to lose this amount in 7 weeks? I am really thinking about fasting during the day and eat something small and LC in the evening. Do you think that would get me to that goal by doing that? OR should I stick to just water? Thank you in advance for you help Kim

I think water is fastest but I wonder sometimes.

SNJ - Water fasting is quick, but you can't fast for forever. . . I've been doing the fast during the day, with a salad or lite dinner, pretty regularly now. For me it has been what my body needed. I try to stick to 2-3 oz of meat - whether it's on it's own or mixed with veggies. I'll still do broth or green smoothie for B/L if I need too, but otherwise try to get in 60-80 oz of water a day (with flavor added here and there)

At least once a week I'll have a real meal and not beat myself up about it, cuze that's what life is about... we still have to live it... Still learning how to make the right choices and not let food rule my day.

If you're comfortable with the fasting, even for part of the day, I'd say go for it. You can up your workouts as you go along and that will help shed inches along with some of the unwanted pounds....

I'd agree that fasting might be fast but I think you'd be better off with a plan of sorts. You'd be able to get that weight off with the above suggestion no problem! I think Marci did her almost 20 lbs in 35 days or so! Marci?

Its been a stressful day and for my first day back on fasting its been difficult. I've had about 80 ounces of water, coffee and now goign to get in some tea. Wish me luck - its food or someone has to go! LOL

How is everyone doing today???

I would recommend starting with a fast to lose quickly-- like a week, to lose the first 10-15 lbs... then gradually work your way up to M/E or kimkins... depending on how much fat you need. I think w/ 1,000 calories a day you should still be able to reach your goal and not have to fast too much... but up to you which is easier!

And HI I know I've disappeared.. whenever I lose my lowcarb way I seem to go MIA. But I'm back, and I'm fasting, because that is when I feel best and because this time I'm never going to eat another cashew until I weigh 125 lbs (which may be never... ) Food to me is an addiction, like alcohol, or drugs, and I would rather completely abstain from certain foods than try to play the moderation game. I'm sick of inching farther and farther away from normal "moderate" amounts. I don't think I've ever eating a single serving of cashews and been okay with walking away

So I'm back, trying not to beat myself up over a few lost days and a lot of water weight... it's water, piece of cake! LOL.

Hmmm I won't weigh myself either, and I am an obsessive weigher, but I'm making this less about the weight and more about just being at peace with myself Okay who am I kidding? I just don't want to jump on the scale and have a heart attack from how much I gained in 3 days!! I'll weigh again on Saturday I'm thinking?

You guys are really such inspiration! I was going through an old 30-day detox fasting thread and saw some of you there... I love how I can come here and not get yelled at for not eating

You're keeping me accountable!

Hang in there Sam!! We'd never yell at anyone . . . it'd be like yelling at ourselves!!!!

And yes Tracey . . . You got me into this Fasting thing - We started on April 2 of this year ... After 2 - 5 day total fasts, 2 or 3 - 3 day (m-w or t-th) fasts and more daily fasts - (QOD caused me to gain 4-5 pounds - due to the same problem Sam has - addiction/love of food) I've lost about 20 pounds... and I'll be danged if I'm going back... that will be the real challenge.

Tracey you were down over 10 lbs and you'll be on your way once again. You had way too much stress going on in your life when we began. I think it was a good thing for you to do at the time anyway - as it gave you one aspect of your life that you were totally in control of. Now you have a new beginning!!

all around for you beautiful people!

I was down to 145.5 - so that was almost 15 lbs! Yikes - sure does show how emotional issues/stress comes into play!

Sam - Welcome back!!!

I've made up my mind to stick with it and lite eating for awhile. If I can focus on how good I feel - that should account for something!

I've had about 80-100 oz of water already today at work! I'm just about floating so backing off for now! LOL

Hope everyone has a great evening!!!

Hello, I've been lurking on these boards for several weeks now. And absorbing lots of info.
I began my journey about 4 years ago after the birth of my 8th child. I lost 47 pounds on Atkins, and I felt great. I kept it off too, til I became pregnant with #9. I gained a total of 37 pounds with this pregnancy. And somehow I've kept most of it after the birth of our daughter.
Anyway, Atkins wan't working for me this time. Of course I was really pushing the limits counting net carbs etc.
I just came off of a 5 day fast and lost about 5 pounds. The fasting was much easier than I thought it would be. I am now going to try the K/E.
You are all doing such a great job. And I have been so motivated just reading your posts. Hopefully I can join in here.
Julie

I'm waving hello to all the fasters to those who know me & those who don't!! I wish I was fasting for this Summer Equinox, but w/ the hypoglycemia I am not supposed to. That & they still have to find out why I'm not losing weight w/ the way I eat & exercise. Could be a few things, thyroid, cortisol levels so I have to go in Friay AM to get another run of 3hr glucose/thyroid, etc test. Yeah...my arms will be a pin cushion!!!

I miss doing my juice fasts seriously. I've thought about doing just a 24hr one or something once a week. I do still get my colonics once a month & eat very clean. Keep it up everyone! Stay strong!!!!!!!!

Breaking fast -- day 18

I'm done! Holding at 126 and have been breaking my fast over the last two days. Today I'll be eating kimkins-style, eggs, chicken breast, steamed veggies and I have enough energy for some light exercise.

Good luck to you all!! I may do a 7-day in July or August so I'll be back then!

Starting on my first day of water fasting. I'm a little scared but I think I can do it. I'm starting at a weight of 172. I've tried so many other diets like Atkins and such and I just don't have the motivation. After reading this board I see that it can happen.
Wish me luck on my first day, I can tell it's going to be a tough one.
I plan on water fasting for 2 days, then I have a big night ahead on Saturday night where I plan on eating maybe steamed shrimp, or chicken and some veggies. Then back on the fast until Florida. We will see how that turns out. If all goes well may have to fast even longer after FL!

HI

Hi all,

Just checking in....

I am still at 232.....I have not cheated, even once, but nothing is moving. I am at the end of TOM and have been eating meat and veggies everymeal. I have been watching portion control and have even gotten to the point I'm not nearly as hungry as I usually am.

BUT STILL NOTHING!!!! I must admit, I am getting REALLY frustrated! I will have stuck to strict low carb/induction type eating for two weeks come Sunday and since the fast ended, I have lost NOTHING!!! I am in Ketosis, at least I hope that is why by breath is soooo horrible! But the scale/tape measure is not budging.

OK vented enough!!!

Congratulations to all those making it through their fast!! Your doing GREAT!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Woooo Hoooo Good luck on maintaining and enjoy yourself this summer! I'll be doing a major fast in July also, so we'll see you then!

ashalton! Good Luck on you first day! Just remember that those hunger pains don't mean that you're starving, drink water slowly.... gulping it doesn't help any... You can do it!!

Kawgirl - - I feel for you... Atkins had quit working for me also, and that's why I found it easier to turn to fasting. That you aren't as hungry as usual is a good thing. Maybe focus more on that for a while (I know - so easy to say -so hard to do!) Another thing you could try - mainly veggies all day and meat only at dinner time? At any rate - keep venting and Don't Give Up!! Good to let that stress out and I'm sure some of the others here will have ideas to try also!

Congrats! I brought out my fasting book last night. Remember to break it with juices for a day and add in slowly - they can't stress enough the importance of breaking the fast - for your weight reduction and for your health! I notice I dont' break very well and my weight goes up - a few lbs is natural but I dont' do it correctly, something I will work on this time. I can't believe it - you must be just flying high!

Ashalton - Welcome!!!

Kawgirl - can you post your menus for a few days of food? How about water, how much are you getting in each day? Maybe post to the main board with your food menus and they all have alot of good advice, more experienced than I am. How about your clothes are they feeling any looser? Sometimes inches go first. Hang in there!

Don't give up - post to the main board. They sometimes have suggestions and ideas. Atkins didn't quit working for me, I would eat bites here and there of things that would make it stall for a few days and would have to start over. It does work for most, but maybe you are one of the few that it doesn't. Some suggest the fat fast for a few days to see if that moves anything also.

Exercise - who is doing what today? I did my situps, rode my stationary bike for 20 minutes and did 1/2 of my weight tape. I was exhausted yesterday so didn't push it too much.

Tonight - if it doesn't rain I'll try and ride bike outside or maybe I should run/walk down to the school again and get to those bleachers!

Ok - work is calling!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

I need to make this fast. Anyway, yesterday went really well, I had omlet and chicken breast. I was down 2 lb.s from yesterday So 33 more lb.s to go...I CAN DO THIS, I CAN DO THIS, I CAN DO THIS. I am already hungry BUT, I am waiting until tonight and will eat chicken and until then, I will just fill up on more water. I think tomorrow will be much easier. I really think I will like just eating LC in the evening and water the rest of the day. have a great day

Hi fasters,

Gosh today is day seven. Yesterday I had a small slip up. I was really tired when I got to work. I decided an espresso would pick me up. Well I guess after all this time with nothing my tummy didnt like that. BAD idea. It actualy made me hungry. Like it woke up the sleeping beast. Towards the end of the day I got weak and drank a Sobe Lean. I would normally like this but for some odd reason I could taste the artificial sweetner Funny, I always hear people making this comment. Yesterday was the first time it happened to me. I did drink it as my snack though. Its pretty big so it did the job on the hunger. A few hours later I decided to have some mints for the breath. Another mistake!!! I haven't been having these either. Must have triggered something to get hungry again. I got soo starving. I ended up eating a few pieces of sugar free candy. BAD BAD BAD MISTAKE. my tummy got upset and hasn't stopped making noises since then. Been back and forth to the toilet all night. I thought to myself, I should have just had a small amount of veggies instead of all this. OK sooo, today I think I will stick to my regular diet drinks and water. I have to calm the beast. The other issue is my legs started to ache last night. I used almost a jar of bengay type stuff. I do stand at work but somehow yesterday it was bad. Maybe, a detox sign! I ended up taking one tylenol PM. I have to work today and desperately need to get sleep. It put me to sleep. Finally, I wake up today and my leg is fine. That was strange. The aching was horrible. Anyone have an idea why this happened?

Lots of post to catch up on. I will post more later.

Hello Mahave! Long time no see. Sure do miss your posts.

LOL it's 11:04...already drank 3 bottles of water and took a vitamin. i KNOW that the hunger is in my head so I just keep asking, are you sure that you are hungry?
It's great to have MORE people doing what you are doing. i live with my bf, who doesnt even have to try with food, he trys to be supportive but i've dropped off with so many diets that hes extrememly if-y about this one. but I think im doing well today, my only concern is tonight.
i notice that before i started today i ususally eat at night and not during the day. so im wondering what i can do to keep that craving away for tonight. i would do homework or something but that makes me want to snack...any ideas? i know i can try to go to bed early, but thats the cats play time.
thanks for the welcome, im glad to be here!
first weigh in will be tomorrow!

My DH is of the "everything in moderation" crowd... So, when I started fasting I told him the white lie of "I was just eating lunch at work, no dinner" Then at dinner time I'd just serve and chat with everyone else - - was really a strange feeling! After a couple of days my mind wandered to what I COULD be doing instead of wasting time watching others eat!

To keep busy I walked, cleaned out kitchen drawers, floor exercises in front of TV, read a good book, checked out all the LCF message boards!

Hey Makeup! You're doing great! I used to get leg cramps (still do here and there) so I just popped my potassium pills... they seemed to do the trick. If you're doing the fast for the detox, this is probably a no-no... but being raised by a pharmacist - there's a pill for everything!

Isn't it nice how the body lets you know it's not happy with you?!

SNJ! Wooo hooo Sounds like maybe it's working for you! One day at a time, etc. After a while you'll get used to the fasting during the day... nice to have a lite meal with the family....

Maheve - Good luck on those tests!!

Thanks guys! It's apprecitated. I really do miss fasting & honestly it was the best way for me to lose weight & get the body clean. I miss the peace of it. I could see things a bit more clearly durring my Equinox fasts. I'm missing it right now b/c I would be in here w/ you guys for at least 7-10 days since summer was yesterday.

I can't eat or drink tomorrow from 9am - 12:30noon so I may just sneak in a juice fast day tomorrow. Shhh... . I mean I'll have to last until 12:30 without even water so what's a few more hours? I have a little juicing cart right around the corner from work so I may just do that.

IM feeling like I want to eat. Having that espresso and sugar free candy was a huge mistake. Today is day seven! I will be strong. I will drink diet soda and water. I will not allow what I want right now to take over what I want most in life. I have tons of clothes that I can't fit. I will get back to what I know is my full potential. I need to do this for me.

Exercise, all I do right now is a ton of pushups and leg lifts. I know that I need cardio. I really am feeling a bit tired. Need to be at work by 2 30 so Im going to take a nap.

Thanks for all the support

Hey gang! I wasn't planning on fasting today but I have no appetite and I decided if I have no desire to eat I'm just not going to  The eating day is almost over anyway. I might as well enjoy this feeling I have a luncheon to attend tomorrow or I would continue on but there is no way I can not eat as this is a luncheon in my honor and the hostesses would be offended I am sure The restaurant has a healthy menu though, so that should be easy. I've done 45 minutes walking today for exercise.

eta my weight was at 127 this AM after eating yesterday. I'll take it
