Welcome to all the newbies and hi to everyone! I just wanted the newbies to know that for many of us, the CLA/GLA is not a "miracle" where the inches are just falling off after a few days or a week. It did for some, but for many of us, it is slower going. I am almost 12 weeks in and have lost 3" on my waist and 4" on my lower abs - that's while doing LC of course and exercising most of the time. I don't measure all over which I know I should because I'd probably account for more inches but my middle is the problem area for me so that's what I keep track of. I believe in it as a health supplement so I am continuing to take it. Research has shown that it can take 12 weeks to start working so I'm waiting to see what happens.

I just don't want people to get discouraged and stop taking it if you don't see miracles after a few weeks or even a month. A lot of people seem to stop taking it after a few weeks when they don't see fast results which is why I mention this. I think you have to give things a fair chance to work for you. If you have read the research, then you can see that these supplements show great promise for health and fat metabolism.

Welcome to everyone! Glad to have you here!

Anna - my friend is getting married at the end of May in a very large formal evening wedding. I've been talking to a couple of the other girls that will be going as well. We're planning to wait till the last possible minute to buy new dresses. Like me they are all trying to lose some weight before then. We're hoping that since prom season will have just finished we'll be able to find some bargains.

Good Morning everyone - I am back on the combo - like I said I might run out of the borage oil before I can get to a store. But I feel good on the combo and will take it. I am also working out more with some exercises for my hips.

I am working on taking off wallpaper and painting. So far worked 5 hours and still have more wallpaper to take off. NEVER WALLPAPER!!!

I better get kids to school.

Everyone is doing SO good. Have a great day.

Hello all I have be on induction for 9 days now.At the end of the first week I lost 17 lbs. I have been doing good gonna weigh again Friday .I feel like I have lost more but I,m not weighing but once a week .I put my scales in the closet until a week has past .If I weighed everyday and didn,t lose I would want to quite.
I,m eating lots of meats and veggies and don,t forget yummy eggs. And I drink a gallon of water plus gonna float away but thats ok long as the fats floating down the drain .But so far I have had no problem with it got alot to lose.

Hi Veronica ~

I'm waiting as long as I can, but my future SIL is pretty anxious. The wedding people told her they'll take 4-6 months to come in (the dresses) so she wants to order them yesterday. Fortunately for me, not everyone can get together for at least another month. She's pretty insistent that everyone order together. I know where she's coming from.

The kicker, though, is that I'm right at the limit where I would have to pay $20-$40 extra for a larger size when I know I won't be that size by the time of the wedding. If I can just get into a 16 in measurements, I'm not going to care because 16 and under are all the same price. Then I'll just wait until closer to the wedding to get it altered.

Anna

Anna, glad your joining us. Did your mom take the gla with her cla? Alot of people had no success with just the cla alone. The gla seems to kick it in gear

Welcome to all the new members and future new members.

I wanna give an update on The hoistman at work. He started taking the combo Jan 3rd, and hes already had to take his belt in 2 notches. He said he feels great !!!

How CLA & GLA work .....

How does CLA work?
A: CLA prevents fat from being deposited into the cells by speeding up the body's fat metabolism. CLA also helps the body metabolize existing fat deposits. This fat then returns to the blood stream where it is used as energy by muscle cells and the liver.

Recommended CLA dosage:
3400mg a day

How does GLA work?
A: Numerous research studies have examined the role of GLA for improving health, specifically in the area of weight loss. GLA from borage oil causes less body fat to accumulate. Borage oil owes its healing power to the presence of essential fatty acids, the most important of which is GLA, an omega-6 fatty acid. (While borage oil is often used interchangeably with evening primrose oil, ounce for ounce, borage oil boasts more than twice as much GLA.)

Recommended GLA dosage:
1000-3000mg a day

Guidelines for Use
Taking borage oil with food may boost GLA absorption and minimize unpleasant side effects.

If you take an anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication, check with your doctor before trying borage oil.

The are no other known drug or nutrient interactions associated with borage oil.

OK, I got my second botton of liquid CLA from Netrition last week. I opened it this morning and noticed that the CLA is a different color than the last bottle I had. The first bottle was more of a clear oil and this one is a thicker oil that is milky in color, and I shook it up real good like I always do. Does anyone know what it's supposed to look like? Did I get an old bottle? I'm at work so I can't look at the expiration date right now, if there even is one.

wheeewwww, a TON of new people, that is fantastic. I love that our little family is growing. . Anna, I can't believe you read every page, you are crazy girl, lol.

Anyways, welcome to all the newbies. And like its been said before, don't get discouraged if the scale stops moving for a little while. Just be sure to take before measurements and then do it every week or two to check your progress. Also know that there is always someone here to answer any questions you might have.

Wow, I guess my lurker flush worked

my experience is that the color changes based on how much it gets shaken

Hey guys!! I'm still around and taking my Cla/Gla combo. I just got my new bottle today. I wonder how many I've ordered so far? As soon as Tom is over I'll be posting pics. I need to buy some thing that fits so you can really tell the difference between my b4 and after pics. All my things are so big now.

Good morning - just checking in. We had snow last night and today the schools are closed. Of course around here if there is EVEN the slgihtest possibility it might snow they send the kids home from school and Kroger becomes a zoo, because you surely can't get socked in by the weather and not have bread and milk.

Now, I am a pure southerner. I don't drive in snow. I hate snow. But I don't freak out over it. This morning I brushed 1/4" - yes, that's 1/4" not a typo of 14 - off my windshield. The snow panic is overkill I tell you!

Today is chemo day for DH. Thanks for the ongoing prayers and good thoughts. We drove in to work together this morning. That way after his treatment I'll leave for the day as well and drive him home. He said he really dreads it, not because of the treatment itself which is pretty uneventful, but because he knows he'll feel like he has the flu for the next 5 days.

Trish, you are so lucky. I have tried and tried to convince dh to take some dance lessons with me to no avail. I Y has Salsa right now and they have ballroom at other times. He is just too stubborn and won't do it.

good morning all. i'm sitting on my sofa trying to convince myself to go to the gym but I am soooooo sore from yesterdays and it's freezing outside so i don't know if its gonna happen.

tina, ususally if it says 500 mg and doesnt specify a percentage, then it should be 500 of gla. If you are taking walmart brand then I'm pretty sure it is 500 mg.

How much snow did you guys get abby? I think we got about 3 inches or so. It stuck everywhere but the roads because it was so warm. I'm kinda scared to go out because of the ice.
