Court - I have been extremely busy with work... end of the year, taxes for our business etc. etc... I still read alot, just not a whole lot of time to post. It will get better in about a month. (I shoulda hired someone to do this for me)

Christie - shulamite still posts in other threads... I guess she just quit posting here, I know that she's still on the combo. I forget which challenge she's on, but she posts there.

Donna - That's GREAT!!!!

And now for the questionaire.... (you're going to make me measure... that's a good thing, haven't done it this week.)

Quick survey, please? I guess.....

When did you start the combo? I started The last week of September last year.... then I went off of it for a few weeks because the scale wasn't moving (mistake, I'll never do that again... it has to get into your system and if you quit then it will have to start all over again)

How much of each (in grams, not pill count)do you take per day? about 3700mg CLA and 1000mg borage oil

All at once or divided doses? Divided

Are you also dieting? Yes

If yes, what plan? Modified yogurt. I have 2 meals yogurt and one LC on weekdays and LC on weekends

How many inches have you lost from the combo?

Arm - 1 1/2
bust - 4
ribs - 3 1/2
waist - 11 1/2
pooch area - 7
hips - 4
butt - 3 1/2
thigh - 3 1/2
calf - 1
Grand total - 39.5 inches.

How many pounds have you lost? Starting off at 159.5 when I started the combo I am now 144... so 15.5 pounds

Have you dropped sizes? YES!!! I was wearing a size 10 or 12 (tight) I probably should have been a 14. I am now wearing a 6 and I fit into a 4 in a couple of brands.

I can't ever tell a difference until I look at them side by side. I wish I had taken a pic from when I first started the combo... the first pic that I took was 3 weeks into it and I had already lost alot of inches.

I know I've gotten smaller in this past month because suddenly EVERYBODY is noticing. I ran into a friend that hasn't seen me in about a year and he had no clue who I was until we talked for a few minutes.

He said "Holy S*%^ is that YOU Michelle?"

It was funny because we were talking about work and he was talking to me just like he knew who I was... then he said that and I was embarrassed because I realized that he had no clue.

Stefanie, yes the Borage Oil is a blood thinner. I had the big H in 91 so I cant be much help on that subject lol but I did find this in my research....

In borage oil, the GLA seems to calm inflammation overall, making it an attractive treatment option for arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
Relieves the discomforts of PMS, endometriosis, and fibrocystic breasts. By interfering with the production of inflammatory substances called prostaglandins which are released during menstruation, the GLA in borage oil may help ease related cramping and pain. Borage oil may also reduce some of the breast tenderness that women feel before their periods and calm endometriosis-associated inflammation. Many PMS sufferers are found to have unusually low levels of GLA in their systems, which is why supplements may help so much. In women with fibrocystic breasts, the oil's essential fatty acids can minimize breast inflammation and promote the absorption of iodine, a mineral often found in abnormally low levels in those with this condition.
I'm a witness to this. Before I started taking the Borage oil, I got the bumps on my breast and in my underarm area. Also after the birth of my twins I got my tubes cut and tied so my period was really heavy. I had to switch from using pads(2 of the at a time)to using tampons and 1 pad for extra protection. My period was a mess and it lasted 7 days I wasn't used to that at all. My period has always lasted 3 days since I started getting in at 13 and even after having my mother children. I was having really bad cramps that made me week and would drop me to my knees. There were times where my husband would have to leave work because I would be on the floor in so much pain that my children would be scared and call him hom.

But now my period last 5 days and I get a small little tiny bump on my breast and under my armpit area. I have small tiny cramps and my breast are not that tender anymore. Sorry if this was to graphic for our male readers

Hi Everyone,

I've just been lurking - not really gone. Wanted to jump in and answer the survey.

When did you start the combo?
November 21, 2005

How much of each do you take per day?
3700 CLA - Tonalin (Vitamin Shoppe)
960mg Borage Oil Caps

All at once or divided doses?
2 CLA/1 GLA with Breakfast - 1 CLA/1 GLA at Lunch - 2 CLA/1 GLA Dinner

Are you also dieting? If yes, what plan?
Atkins Induction - Meat/Eggs/Salad

How many inches have you lost from the combo?
21.5

How many pounds have you lost?
7.3 lbs

Have you dropped sizes?
Nope, I'm still in a size 18. But my waist is not purple from my circulation being cut off any longer from wearing Jeans.

Hey Everyone! Here I am on day 2 of the combo. I haven't lost any weight for a few days, but am coming off TOM. I'm feeling really good! It looks like my dosage is comparable to a lot of others; 5 Tonalin CLA(2 am, 3 pm) and 4 Borage Oil GLA(2 and 2). I'll keep checking in with you guys, and when I have some results, I'll get them to you!
See ya!

oops!!

this is what I answered in the lil' survey earlier: 960mg Borage Oil Caps

I misanswered that...that's actually 960mg of GLA a day from 4200mg of Borage Oil (4 of the NOW 1050mg Borage Oils from Netrition)

and if I remember correctly, Trisha is taking what I'm taking above too even though hers reads the same as my original answer (that's what I get for cutting & pasting her formatting & just changing up her answers to mine, I didn't change that one! )

Just reading the postings on CLA/GLA? WHAT? LOL

Can someone bring me up to the 20th century with this? What is it? and what is it suppose to do? And where do u get it? And is it harmful?

Am feeling a little left out right now.....and am pouting! There is something old that i didn't know about.

Can someone enlighten this old lady?

<<SNIFF>> <<SNIFF>>

Thank you,

You guys are so helpful and inspirational! You've already helped me tremendously.

Two questions for you:

1. When you started the combo, did you start having cravings? Cravings really haven't ever been a problem for me, and all of a sudden they're hitting hard. I'm trying to analyze what I've been doing differently in the past couple of weeks, and the combo is one of them.

2. Did you get really sleepy? I swear, I've lost all energy. I'm actually wondering whether it's the combo or if it's my body asking for more food because of the exercise I've been doing. I eat when I'm hungry, so who knows?

I'm cold!

Today is my second day on cla/gla. The temp here in southern Iowa is in the upper 20's lower 30's. (and that's warm for January in Iowa!) The furnace is on and set to 73 degrees and my wife and I are both cold. Has anyone else had the same experience while being on this combo? I'm thinking my bed and a couple thick quilts are sounding pretty good at this point in time.

Maybe the combo is working so fast that I'm losing insulating layer of fat! I didn't think so either but hey, it was a good thought.

ok, people, what's with all the whining???

"i'm craving"...."i'm sleepy"..."i'm cold" Did you really think you could get such amazing results without some kind of sacrifices? You didn't really expect to be comfortable, did you??

just kidding!

seriously, i don't have any answers for those questions...i take mine at night before going to bed so if they are making me sleepy, that's a good thing and if i'm craving anything or unusually cold, i'm sleeping right through all of that too...so, sorry don't know what to tell ya

but here's a hug for all your troubles and a grin for putting up with this post!
