I am reposting from the tight jeans thread. I cant keep my threads straight anymore lol
Well our first Ballroom Dance lesson went well. We had a blast. My legs and butt are killing me today. This is going to be good exercise for us for sure. We went to the casino after that and I won $2025.00 on a 50 cent Flaming triple 7 slot machine !!!We went shopping for new jeans before dance class since mine are either too loose or wore out from work, and get this....I got a pair of Crazy Horse jeans in *drum roll* size 12 !!!!!!!! Probably vanity sizing but I'll take it . The cla/gla is still working its magic . I'll have Tom take a pic of me in them tomorrow when I feel more alive. We didnt get home till 8 this morning we were having such a good time You all are doing so great. keep it going !!!!! Welcome to all the new members Gina, glad you checked in, we missed you. I was wondering about Jamie too ![]()

Yoo Hoo Trisha...
I was telling my friend about CLA/GLA and I confused myself about the CLA dosage information.
I was taking 1/2 TB liquid CLA & 2 NOW Borage Oil caps then I doubled all that, saw better results and have stuck with that. But then just today I read something earlier today you posted that said if you go over the 1/2 TB CLA (3500mg)...the CLA actually loses its effectiveness...am I remembering that right? That's interesting if so...because that's not just saying "more doesn't necessarily help"...it's saying "more could actually hurt"...am I seeing that correctly? And then also...it brings to mind my situation, could it be that I saw better results when I doubled all my dosages because of the GLA increase only? Like maybe I should just go back to 1/2 TB CLA and keep the GLA at 4 caps a day and see if that works just as well? (would save a little $$ on CLA anyway) what do you recommend "Dr. T"? |

Amy, according to the chart I found in my research, anything over 3400mg starts being less effective. I upped my Borage to 4 a day and saw better results, but I still just take 3400mg liquid cla. This chart helps show what I am talking about. I wish I could remember where I found it

Thanks Amy. Are we that obvious? Michelle tagged us with that name too TnT Oh I just did a search and found it. You can do a Yahoo search for "cla lean body mass chart" and click on the first one "Clarinol CLA". It has all the info and the chart there.... A simple consumer friendly version of these scientific clinical studies for the physiological mechanism is as follows: CLA works to reduce body fat by preventing fat accumulation in fat cells. Fat normally enters the fat cell through a “door” that is controlled by an enzyme, the “key”. By acting on this enzyme, or “key”, CLA keeps the “door” locked. When the “door” is locked, fat cannot enter the cells thereby not allowing the amount of fat to increase in the cells. The less fat that is present in the cells, the smaller and less mature they become, this helps to reduce the level of fat in the body. CLA works to increase lean muscle mass by enhancing the enzyme activity in muscle cells. The increased presence of fat will be burned in the muscle cells, thus building up lean muscle mass. Yep, I think you will do ok with just the 3400mg cla and up your Borage oil a little. Less expensive too. Hope the chart helps your friend
Heres the shorter version you can paste and show her too...I keep trying to find shorter and simpler ways to explain it so its easier for new people to understand How CLA & GLA work ..... How does CLA work? A: CLA prevents fat from being deposited into the cells by speeding up the body's fat metabolism. CLA also helps the body metabolize existing fat deposits. This fat then returns to the blood stream where it is used as energy by muscle cells and the liver. Recommended CLA dosage: 3400mg a day How does GLA work? A: Numerous research studies have examined the role of GLA for improving health, specifically in the area of weight loss. GLA from borage oil causes less body fat to accumulate. Borage oil owes its healing power to the presence of essential fatty acids, the most important of which is GLA, an omega-6 fatty acid. (While borage oil is often used interchangeably with evening primrose oil, ounce for ounce, borage oil boasts more than twice as much GLA.) Recommended GLA dosage: 1000-3000mg a day Guidelines for Use Taking borage oil with food may boost GLA absorption and minimize unpleasant side effects. If you take an anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication, check with your doctor before trying borage oil. The are no other known drug or nutrient interactions associated with borage oil. Possible Side Effects ... Borage oil may cause loose stools and minor stomach problems. Other benefits of Borage Oil... Reduce the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis Clear up acne and rosacea Alleviate inflammation associated with lupus Prevent nerve damage (neuropathy) due to diabetes Combat damage from multiple sclerosis Ease cough and soothe throat disorders Treat Alzheimer's-related memory deficiencies Reduce stress and high blood pressure Nourish nails, scalp, and hair Counter impotence and female infertility |

Hey you guys! I just got my first bottles of Tonalin CLA and Borage Oil. Took my first dose tonight, even though it will only be one for the day! I'm excited to see if this works.
I have a question, though. Will not exercising affect the way these work? I do walk/run, but I am not to the point of long term. I am out for about 3-4 miles right now, 4 times a week. If it rains, I don't go, etc. I hope I am not sabotaging myself, but it is hard with my 2 kids and husband's crazy work schedule(excuses, I know, but reality!) I hope to get the results many of you have had. So far, so good with Atkins. Thanks for the help!

V , glad your joining us . Exercise will definately help tone you as you lose weight but I am not a big exerciser since Thanksgiving and I am still losing inches and toning up some. I know I would do alot better if I worked out more, even walking helps. I have just been so lazy lately, with working 10 hour night shifts and getting a couple hours of sleep and going right back to work. I'll do better when spring gets here and I can work out in the yard ![]() |

well...the combo works great for me and I'm a self-professed lazy thing! i STILL haven't gotten into a regular exercise regime at all other than being on the go at work (I'm a teacher). and I know Caly wasn't following an exercise regime most of the month she got her dramatic results (though she's on track with one now, WTG Caly!) So... I would say...YES, it is "possible" to see results w/o formal exercise (though I wouldn't be surprised to see better results with) BTW... ![]() Last edited by IM2cute : 01-21-2006 at 07:10 PM. |

Greetings from wind-blown Boston - been pondering my lack of losing inches. I think I was taking too much CLA (was taking 4400mg - cutting back to about 3500mg). I am leaving the GLA at 1000mg. However, Michelle asked me what else I am taking. I am taking Xenadrine. It is supposidly and engery/metabolism enhancer. It is the one from netrition. Could that be messing w/ the "combo"?
Any help would be appreciated. I know I sound like a broken record, but I think this can work for me if I just get it right. I still have a larger waist measurement then hip measurement. I swear, I would scream so loud no matter what state you were in you would hear me if my waist was actually smaller than my hips.

hi everyone, i have been reading all of the posts about the cla and gla, i just ordered my cla (liquid) from netrition it should be here in 3 or 4 days, and i'm going to go to walmart and check out borage oil or evening primrose. i want some amazing results too..LOL i am a little concered about the "stalling" on the weight loss that some people have had, i just entered a contest at work for all the women "the biggest loser" and i would love to see the scale keep dropping, BUT i want to try this too. its going to be hard for me if the scale dont move along with the inches because i rely on the scale alot. anyway please keep y'all fingers crossed for me, i hope that i will lose alot, and i WILL measure before i start taking it. and thanks to everyone for being an inspiration to me, i have always needed a place like this to get ideas and support.

I think it's wise to cut back on the CLA too...and as for the Xenadrine, I wouldn't think it would conflict with the combo but maybe you can take it separately from the rest? ![]() |
