Hello Everyone,
Not usually here on the weekend. Work is jammin', so I had to be here today. Surprised how quiet the thread is. Trish, have you went to the doctor. You have been sick to long! I hope you get better soon. Remember when I was so sick last week. Did everything I could to get rid of the sore throat & fever, which I still have a week and a half later. I finally took my butt to the doctor. I have strep throat. No wonder it wasn't getting better. I was at the Vitamin store and bought some Phase 2. It has different ingred. other then just the white kidney bean extract. There were several different kinds of this product.(diff name brands) I've got "Carb Phaser 1000" The 4 things that it has listed are: Chromium 100 mcg Phase 2 Brand (white kidney bean extract)(Phaseolus vulgaris) 500mg Gymnema Syvestre (leaf) 300mg Vanduim 1000 mcg Directions: 2 caps directly before high carb meals Do you take this daily or just at those certain times. Gina

Hugss Gina, Good to see you back. The white bean extract is the good ones. You take them only when your going to have a carby meal. we take them about 20 minutes before. I havent went to the doc yet, but I will Monday if I am not better. Seems I get worse every day. I hate this....

Checking in to say hello. Need to take my meausurements. I've been on about 5 weeks now. I know I've had some progress. Not enough to post pictures of though!
I guess I have figured out exactly where I need to carb-wise for maintenance. Unfortunately, I still have, well, at least 60 pounds to go before I want to START maintenance. I've stayed within the same couple of pounds for almost 2 months. I've got to figure out what changes to make that will get me moving down the scale again. That's something to ponder. Have a wonderful Sunday. I'm off to get some work done.

just checking in to say hello also...
honestly, I'm not doing very well at all---I've had a horrible last couple of days and I've given in to the emotion of it all & have binged on lots of carby comfort food (it's been SOOO long since I've done that, I'm almost in shock)...and of course, the scale is showing it all, not to mention that I feel like crap ![]() the only thing I have done right is that I've kept up with my cla/gla combo each night |

Abby, I don't know how you do it. Your dedication to your DH and commitment to this board amazes me. I know you have your hands full at home right now, but you continue to come here and post and keep the encouragement going for us all. You are one amazing woman and you have my respect and love ![]() Oh I finally feel a little more alive today. No more whining from me ![]()

Trish - you are so sweet to say that! Coming here helps me get outside myself which I desparately need from time to time these days. I feel so comfortable with my friends here.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. A lot of people at my office have had the crud. I think your weather is probably a lot like ours - warm one day and colder the next. Yesterday was 35 - today is 60. Welcome to winter in the mid-south! It's no wonder there's so much going around. |

Abby - I know what you mean about getting outside yourself. Sometimes it's nice to have a place to go so that you can just forget for a minute.
You are so very strong. I admire you. Trish, it's good to hear that you are feeling better. Amy - I think we all go through that. Jump back on that wagon. You'll learn from this. Tom - haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well. I am still on my combo...but I am so dang busy with absolutely everything. Business, kids (including hubby) my problems and everyone else's. I will check in tomorrow

Just wanted to say "hi" to all and that I'm still alive. LOL. Trish, hope you're feeling better! Did you go to the dr.? Take care of yourself.
I'm in a funk right now so I'm quiet. Not losing, feel crappy and backed up. Going on a raw veggie diet this week to see if I can get my system up and moving again. I'm drinking tons, taking my supps and exercising daily so I'm doing the best I can. Thinking about you guys even when I'm not posting! |

No loss, but no gain either!
I'm still at my original weight but I'm reaching for better foods than I was before last week. I started the full recommended doses of the combo this weekend and other than being full after taking 4 horse pills every morning and evening, and deciding that I really DO need to repaint the bathroom ceiling, there's been no other effects. How often are we supposed to measure ourselves? I measured last week when I started. When should I measure again. Don't want to jinx anyting nor look presumptuous....
DH, DS and DD weighed in this weekend and to their horror, all discovered that they'd gained at least 5 pounds over the holidays. I did not gain at all but my BMI was way higher than theirs to begin with. They have all committed to eating better, starting with no more goodies around all the time. So I bagged and froze most of the leftover cookies, etc from the holidays and purchased salad stuff for the week. The kids can still have goodies after school for snacks but now that they are pre-bagged, they are portion controlled and can be metabolized before bed. They have lots of good choices for breakfast cereals and protein based lunches w/ fruit. Dinners will be low carb w/o any desserts (unless they want more fruit). I even baked some LC/LF custard in case they wanted to skip carbs for breakfast also. It will be so much easier for me to follow a structured LC mealplan if they are doing it for dinner also. I'm psyched and they are scared!! Time to buy some fish...heh, heh, heh. Trish, hope you are feeling better by now. If not, get thee to a doc, pronto. This is not a good time of year to let things linger. Later,

Good morning everyone just a quick note, as I need to get back to work. I am the same weight as yesterday (weigh daily). Worked on cleaning out the house as I posted earlier. Did 100 crunches, 50 leg lifts on each leg and did the pilates leg ring resistance. I feel it in my thighs today..woohoo.
Gotta start controlling my portions.... last night had three pork chops and two helpings of brocolli that was baked with a little bit of velveeta cheese (don't like velveeta but had to use it up). I was doing so good with no hungers or wanting to eat and the last few days have been hungry .... Have a great day everyone!!! |

Alismom, I finally woke up Sunday feeling much better, so the doc doesnt get my paycheck this week lol. Hope you feel better soon. Miss you on the board
Karen, sounds like you have a good plan going there. No doc for me this time. Carla, sounds like your off to a good start. I have been so lax in my exercising since thanksgiving its no wonder I have stalled. I am going to do better now that things are back to normal. Don't work too hard !!! My sinuses have been blocked on the right side of my head for years and the specialist wants to do surgery to open them up. But for various reasons I choose not to at this time. So this is as good as its going to get for now lol At least I feel alive this week. Last week was rough !!! |

Just checking in with y'all.... as you know, I'm extremely busy right now... I can't wait for things to calm down.
Trish, I am so happy that you are feeling better, I was considering sending a team of doctors to Kentucky after your butt with very long needles!!!! I will check in tomorrow, haven't even taken time to measure this week. What a mess!!! Every time I think I have one small thing done I find another mess to go with it! I need to find a software program to make this easier. |

I started on the combo 12/2 and have had no results. My fault though! My brother died of cancer on Christmas eve and the couple months prior to that we were taking care of him. It pretty much consumed my life and I lived on trash food and lots of beer to sleep. Added to my brother's illness was family coming and going including my parents who have been divorced for 40 years and both still hold lots of bitterness (I was a wreck every time they were in the same room!). Miraculously, I only gained a few pounds.
Anyway, yesterday I started back on Atkins and I know the combo will accelerate my inch loss. So here goes.... chest (under arms) 39 below bust 36 waist 39 abdomen 47 hips 48 upper thigh 29.5 above knee 20.5 calf 17.5 So....good luck to me! Val |

WooooHoooo Val!!!! Happy to see you here! You will see those inches falling off soon.
I am very sorry to hear about your brother, it is sad to lose a sibling... my sister died at the age of 19, she had an "unknown" lung condition. We were very close and that was an extremely hard loss for me, I miss her very much. ![]() |

Thank you. My brother was 56 and had left home 40 years ago. We didn't see him much. I got closer to him when he was dying than I had been when he was living. I can't imagine losing a sister at 19.
But listen to this.... He had cancer and in his last week on earth he quit eating and drinking, and was dis-oriented. He didn't recognize any of us. My sister and I were talking when he was in this condition and she said she wished Dave would send her a symbol or message that he was okay. I said he will! He will send me a cardinal! The night before he died I went out to the garage laundry room and a bright red cardinal was trapped in there. He flew around my head about ten times and I was grinning like a monkey! I said, "Ok, Dave, I know you are talking to me!". He flew out, down through the garage and out into the night. The day after Christmas I emailed my cousin (and my brother's close friend) and told him about the cardinal. He freaked! His girlfriend had put a stuffed red cardinal toy in his Christmas stocking. He hadn't thought anything about it. When he got my email he asked her why she bought it and she said she felt compelled to when she saw it on Christmas eve! My sister wondered where her cardinal was. Her dogs needed to go the vet and she said she would take them next week. On Tuesday I said just make the appointment and I will take them. I finally talked her into it. The appointment was at 4pm. At 3:30 she called and asked me if I was on my way to pick them up. Ack! I had forgotten (I've never forgotten before) and was in the middle of coloring my hair! So she had to take them. And she got her cardinal. The vet's office had a small tree and the topper (and only decoration) was a red cardinal. Not a star, not an angel - a bright red cardinal!! Is this too cool? Further, he was born on Good Friday, died on Christmas Eve, we had a "Celebration of Life" party on New Year's Eve day and his ashes will be buried on Friday the 13th. He likes significant days! I'm going to be like Michelle and running in and out for the next few days. Things are very hectic at work and at home. After a weekend of extreme fatigue, DH is feeling somewhat better and was able to go in to work yesterday and today. His hair is starting to fall out by the handful. We had intended to do this last night but didn't get around to it. He's ready to just shave it off so that it won't clog up the shower too much. I think we're going to do that tonight. It is a rite of passage in the journey of chemotherapy I guess.
I love you guys and so very much appreciate the prayers for us! I cannot express what that means to me. Coming in here to check in with you is something I use to keep centered on the path. Have a great day! |

hi everyone, i'm back. sorry for the long absense but I was wrapped up in spending time with dh while he was home. But i'm back on track now. Reinducting today and debating whether or not to start taking my cla now or to wait. What do you all think. I just don't want to stall while inducting. I don't know what to do. Anyways, sooooo glad to be back.
