Hi all--sorry, I'm way behind on the reading, but couldn't resist coming in to post this:

It's just sad, really.

Hope everyone is well!

Well, I must say that I really love British sandwiches (Pret, M&S ...), so I can see why people eat so many. They're so handy, too!

Good to see you too!

What the heck is bread "enriched" with vegetables? Why not just eat the vegetables instead? Get a salad instead of a sandwich.

Anyway, I like tomatoes, but they absolutely don't belong in sandwiches. They make the bread soggy and gross.

Good point Junk! I just ate 5 cherry tomatoes with my sticky ribs dipped in Frank's Hot Sauce. I love it and can't believe it is 0 carb.

Gym this morning after another week off! Good to be back to the endorphin rush.

Induction is going well, another 1lb down.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day everyone.

I am down another pound today, 140.5, so very happy with induction, 140's here I come. I am keeping it really clean and trying to keep my fats up. Got through dinner last night without any wine, but oh water is dull when you are in a nice restaurant serving great food. I can do it though.

I have started writing in my journal again and it was very salutary to read the first post, 1/1/07. I weighed 127 and was trying to drop to 122 by my birthday in June. I did it too, but I think I looked too thin. So it is time I got this show on the road.

I think we sometimes try to set goals that are too low. I really liked the idea of being 110, partly because it meant I was 7st something, which felt closer to what I weighed at 20. I got there for a very short time, but I've been able to stay around 116-118 quite happily, just occasionally having to reign things in a bit if I'm popping over 8½ stone. Once I picked a more realistic number for me, it was a lot easier.

Maybe somewhere in the 130s will work for you?

I don't really care what I weigh; I just want to be able to fit into a certain size!

Here's another one for the "they really don't have a clue, do they?" file:
Children who drink full fat milk weigh less than those who do not - Telegraph

Can't resist a lengthy excerpt:

Quote:
Children as young as eight who drink milk every day have a lower body mass index than those who drink the low fat variety, according to the study from Gothenburg University in Sweden.

The new study found that children who drink full fat milk weigh on average almost nine pounds less than other children.

Diet experts believe that children who do not drink full fat milk may be fatter themselves because they drink fizzy drinks instead.

Dietician and author of the study Susanne Eriksson, said: "It may be the case that children who drink full-fat milk tend also to eat other things that affect their weight.

"Another possible explanation is that children who do not drink full fat milk drink more soft drinks instead."

The researchers also discovered a difference between overweight children who drink full fat milk everyday and those who do not.

Children who often drink milk with a fat content of three per cent are "less overweight" but eat more saturated fat than recommended.

However, those children with a high intake of fat have a lower BMI than the children with a lower intake of fat.
Hmm, here's a thought: Maybe fat isn't bad for you!

Marcella, I agree that size/body composition are more important than the actual weight, but I find I can manage a staggering degree of denial if I use clothes as an indicator. I'll have spent months wearing all my looser clothes before I admit to myself that it's because the others have become too tight. A hard number is much more difficult to deny. Of course the number you use might need to change, especially if you start weight training, or something that's likely to increase your muscle mass.

Good day all round, even if I was up half a pound this morning, salt!

Body Balance at the gym, clean induction all day and plenty of water. Also 2 cashmere roll necks form Sainsbury's for £30 each. 25% off all clothes there until Monday!

Guess shy is in Egypt by now, lucky girl.

When will they learn that fat is not the enemy?

I'm doing induction too!!! Not eating inuitively - so if not doing it = eating too much - if in place where I need to eat too much - may as well follow Atkins!!!

Eggy breakky
Tuna for lunch
not sure for dinner

Salads are going to be the most difficult for me!!! - may need to by requirements daily!!! Can get frozen spinach and green beans - so not all is bad!!!

Meat will be a lot of chicken and mince - can get tinned tuna (must investigate the fish places) - lots of eggs - and luckily this week we're off to Muscat - so I'll buy lots of 'extras' that I may need!!!

Vicky, good for you. I have hardly eaten any salad, too cold for me to fancy it. Can't you get iceburg? That was all we used in HK and Singapore and most of the time in Muscat too! Cucumber?

Come join me on the Pre Thanksgiving Induction thread, only a few of us so it is great.

Went to see Men Who Stare at Goats this afternoon, only okay, though it is always pleasing to stare good looking men! A few laughs too.

Eating has been good, we were out for lunch and I ordered ham hock followed by salmon and drank diet coke.

So first week done, not a drop of alcohol and down 4 lbs! Yay!

Can get iceberg - but not so nice!!! I will get some - but you sort of have to get it when you need it!!!

I'm eating a lot of eggs!!!! Must start the Psyllium Husk!!!

I'm up a lb - can't understand it - ate 4 eggs, 2 tins of tuna mayo, 2 chicken wings and some beef!!!

Oh well - another day today!!

Will try to find the thread you mentioned

The iceburg needs more than the olive oil you usually use as dressing, mayo or similar.

Pre-Thanksgiving Induction!!!! There you go.

I had a read through this am - I may or may not join - I'll see!!!

True on the iceberg. I bought some Mayo quickly the other day - said 0 carbs - but then it says it has HFCS in it - so how it can be 0 don't know!!!

I'm going to boil a bunch of eggs - and maybe make my own mayo!!!
