Hi, to all you Texans!
We are Texas Low Carbers who are planning on being "losers" who provide support, recipes, and accountability to each other. Any low-carb plan is welcome as we are a mixture of several. Feel free to post. No lectures, but we will give our suggestions if you ask. We try to start a new thread each month. Welcome to October ~ Slendercate |

Hi, fellow Texas losers,
Only one more day this weekend to study for my first national board coming up on the 9th of Oct. ![]() What a way to spend your birthday weekend, my birthday is tomarrow, the 5th. ![]() However, told hubby I would feel more like celebrating it on Oct 24th after my final board. My mouth is getting better, I am on track food wise. Got up early to do 30 minutes of Callanetics for stomach, waist, arms. Well have a great Sunday, all. I am looking for a great lc pumpkin cake recipe. Anyone know where to find one? That is the one thing I love in the fall. Hugs, Cate

Hey fellow Texans!! Just signed up today to be on this website. It looks like there is lots of support. I'm 5'2" and 160....my doctor wants me to take off at least 30. I got down to 144, got sick, and gained up to 160. Looking forward to sharing with you!

Hello everyone. Happy Birthday Cate!!! Hope all is well with you all. Not much going on here in Austin. Supposed to start storming (hail and all) in a while - cool front blowing in - Hurray! Supposed to be in the 50's Saturday morning. Off tonight so I've been roaming around all day. Fixing a bacon cheeseburger with some watermelon for dinner. Long story short - about a month ago I encountered a man who lives across the parking lot - I'd never seen him before but I know he's been here for a while because I've seen his car parked. Well I pulled in and said good morning to him and he came over and was asking about the noise my truck was making...ended with a just let me know when you want me to take a look at it. Well - we spoke for about 20 minutes and he as well as I used to live in NY - he as well as I work nights...Seems like a really nice guy. But - I never see him because of our schedules. I'm getting daring here - going to send him a Halloween card of course addressed to "Resident" cause I didn't catch his name. Going to see if he wants to do something sometime - something simple like coffee, a beer or another conversation in the pouring rain in the parking lot. I ran this by my 23 year old daughter who is always painfully honest with me - she says "do it Mama - you need to get back out there". I'm going to pick out a generic HW card tomorrow and mail it and my stomach is a mess already. But, the adrenalin junkie in my has already kicked in. I'll keep you guys posted - sorry so long - I know I know I'm in about 8th grade...Eileen

Good morning Texans!
It has been nice and cool in the mornings, yesterday it was real humid when I walked out though. I struggle with the heat so this is nice and I've always been warm natured but these past two weeks at the office I've had to wear a sweater and even warm my water (drinking) because I get so cold? Recluse, sounds like a fun halloween thing to do....just be careful and safe. Shellmc, hope you drop in to let us know how your feeling today. |

Shelley, weren't you asking about a sugar free pecan pie for your diabetic DH? Here's a thread about mock corn syrup and there's talk of using it for pecan pie:
Light Corn Syrup - PolyD Style I saved this and bought the polyd so I could try this for thanksgiving this year. Happygirl52, howdy! where in east texas are you? |

Hi everyone! Hope things are going well. Shellmc, sorry to hear about the personal problems and hope things start going better soon.
I finally broke the 200 mark to join those of you in onederland and I am very excited... that being said, I am just hoping to keep the numbers going down. Seemed like it took forever to lose those last couple of pounds to get me under the milestone... Recluse -- sounds like some exciting times may be in store for you While I have been happily married for almost 20 years, the thing that I remember most fondly from my ealry dating years was the excitement or potential in "new" relationships....

Hey all,
Haven't been on much lately. All the rain has been causing lots of problems on the farm and work has been really intensive. But today is my Lowcarbversary so I just had to stop in. (HLCA to me). I'm thinking about putting together a DFW gettogether for mid november. If anyone is interested please post here or send email to livingvlc@gmail.com. Scott |

Hi, y'alll,
Thanks y'all, for my birthday wishes! Over the last three weeks, have been still studying for my boards, but wanted to drop in to say "hi". I will be glad when the last one is over next Saturday. Now to wait for the results... Shellmac, hope your personal problems are beginning to resolve. Eileen, you go girl. Hope he likes the Halloween card. Donia, isn't it nice to open up the windows with the nice and cool weather? Lawmom, congrats on breaking the 200 mark. I know you feel great. Welcome, Happygirl, glad you could join us. I know the feeling, my doc wants me to take off 40lbs. Cookinsfor me, yum, your sf pecan pie sounds great. My DH would love it. After boards, will have to try it. DiSa, good to talk to you. I know what you mean about the heat, yuk. Scott, your getogether sounds nice. Can you post information as it becomes available? Will check in later. Hope all are having a great weekend. Hi and welcome Eaglemom! And SO glad to hear from you Cate - I know you are extremely busy right now. Hope everyone else is staying well and safe! Quick update on my parking lot man - after 8 days I got an e-mail from him thanking me for the card and telling me that he was glad to know it was me - I guess he remembers when we spoke in the parking lot in the pouring rain. Well - we are getting together Friday evening. I'm thinking some snacky type stuff and beer - or - chinese take out or something. Well - I'll keep you guys posted. I work nights so don't have much of a social life and truly feel like you all are near and dear friends! Talk to everyone soon - Eileen

Hello everyone. Hope all is well with you guys. Figured I'd post a quick update - Had a few beers with "Parking Lot Man" last night. Went excellent. What a sweet guy! Very sincere and genuine. He said he'll call so I'm leaving the ball in his court now. Went to doc for annual blood draw for TSH (thyroid) Thursday. Well needs adjusting down - happens every 5 or 6 years. And I've been thinking about thinking about quitting smoking. I even went as far as having bought nicotine patches. I'm gonna have to really start watching what I eat. Figured I'm spending $240/month on cigarettes - YIKES. Well - we'll see how that goes...Just wanted to check in and make sure everyone is well. Talk to y'all soon - Eileen

Hi everyone! Our thread has kind of died down a little ... I can't believe the holidays are coming up? Does anyone have exciting plans? Is anyone else nervous about keeping on track during the holidays? I am still hoping to be down another ten pounds before Thanksgiving and I definitely don't want to sabotage myself with the "extras" that the families will be serving ... so I have already started compiling my list of LC alternatives that I plan to take to eat --- although I am sure I am going to offend some of my relatives by doing so.

Welcome, Wife of a vet !
![]() Eileen, (Recluse) so great to hear about your romantic date. Quitting smoking is the best thing health wise in my humble ophion. Lawmom, great planning for the Hollidays. I am hosting T'giving at my house, I am LCing on all the items that I can, I am only eating a small amount of the "real" stuff, sending the rest home with family! Sorry the thread has died down. I have finished my national boards, only one left in Dec 1st. Have a 52 yr old relative who was missing 3 days, finally found him in a hosp, he had a stroke and untill we located him, was a "john doe". He is in rehab now and doing better. If ya'll don't mind, I am will start a new Nov thread. I had put back 15 lbs more than what I weighed last Jan 09, however, with the job switch to a sane dept, I am now down 7 lbs on the way back to my goal. I decided to switch my goal to a higher number. When I get to it, I might decide to go lower depending on how I look. Well, got to close now. So good to talk to y'all. |
