Drool! I was raised on meat and potatoes..hence, I am sturdy girl! lol

Another lovely day today. It is warm and clear in Delta, as I sit behind a desk and look out the floor to ceiling windows.

Plans for tonight, more work, lol...actually, I will be working out on mah break..pump those muskles!~

Its nice to hear that you all more not too militant about having splurge days (it must be our peace-loving canadian dispositions!) hehehe. Every Thursday, I let myself have a little something..a few cookies..maybe a poutine (my fav) or some ice cream. I am always back on track by Friday.

Now, I am going to see if you all have journals where I can visit ya!

Alright BC peeps. 5.5lbs in 10 days. Howzabout THAT?! At this rate it won't be long before I'm a mere shadow of my former self.

It's lovely outside, my house is moderately tidy, my birds are fed and (blessedly) quiet, and I'm going back up to the attic. As long as the big bird doesn't freak out from me being up there. He's still a bit traumatized from the whole ceiling falling in thing.

was requested to make a batch of banana muffins for my other half. I did it. I'm not eating them though. Hvaen't had one yet. Also, I tricked her and didn't use all the sugar and made the muffins about 1/3 of the size of the normal ones. She only uses them to take her Champix with and she doesn't want to just use a hard boiled egg.

I think I'm on my own with this whole vlc thing. Well, proof will be in the pudding. When I weigh the same as her and still am 9" taller... I'll win. mwa ha ha

Thats the story of my life too. My hubby has no impetus to eat LC. Although, he doesnt mind if I do LC, he is a picky eater and very stuck in his way (I blame his mom!!) Since, we have been together (15yrs. now) I have always cooked 2 sets of meals, made 2 sets of desserts and bought 2 sets of groceries. Yes, it is a royal pain in arse, but it is the price I pay to stay healthy. It may take some time to get used to it, but you will adjust and feel very triumphant (and virtuous )in the end when are you a slim, fit thang!

it's all worth for the feeling of vituosity (is that a word?) isn't it?

I wrapped up all the muffins in saran wrap, put them in a freezer bag and so they're all safely in the freezer. Away from me. I don't even like banana things, but I could see myself grabbing one on my way by.

My other half doesn't eat differently, she eats what I eat and THEN she eats sugar. Every day she'll have something sugary. At the same time, because she's eating what I'm eating at least she's eat LESS carbs than before. I don't mind. Like I said... I'll just win nya nya nya. <- real mature I know.

Yesterday I was at 1400 calories at the end of the day. That was *with* my cup of whipping cream. I'm hoping that will even out soon. It worries me some, even though it probably shouldn't. The whole idea of 'calories' is so ingrained...

Yep, I am the same way..I am a ridonculous walking encyclopedia of caloric information. This was onset after years of studying calorie counting sites and meticulously journaling food in my late 20's. I will say though...I can not eat a low carb/higher fat diet with being being concerned about calories. I still find that I have to track calories and watch portions or I DO gain weight, even while doing VLC. Some people can eat LC without having to track these things..unfortunately, I am not one of them. My body just does not work that way. *sigh*

I hope to get to the point where I"m not tracking. Right now I am just so I have it good and clear what I ought and ought not to be eating and in what portions etc... My biggest concern is getting the fat/protein/carb ratio right.

Honestly, I don't even know what calories ARE. We figure out how many calories something has by what, setting it on fire, then measuring the smoke, heat and ash to figure out how it works in your body? It's sort of a measure of *something* I'm just not sure exactly what.

Okay, it's october 4th, 5:19pm. I had 24$ left in my spendable account and I went to the local Choices (I think it's owned by IGA).

I found"Omega Nutrition" Certified Organic, Expeller Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil.

454gms (1lb) for $10.49

I was 247lbs this morning. I am now officially adding 3-5 tbls coconut oil to my diet (unsure how yet - the whole 'put it in your coffee' doesn't really appeal to me, but I'll try anything) as of today.

Let's see if the scale changes pace, or if my teeth get whiter, or my skin soft like a rose petal, or boundless engery, or... um, I dunno, whatever it is supposed to do....

My little experiment.

startiiiiiiiiiiiing NOW!

Try it in coffee, Babetteq....it's a bit odd, but not bad. Leaves your lips all glossy and coconutty, which is...interesting.

Ikea is the devil! I had to make four trips in ten days to three different Ikea stores (yes I drove all the way to the Seattle once gahhhhh!) and it was their cinnamon buns that got me. The hot dogs weren't too bad a cheat but once I tasted a cinnamon bun the sugar rush made me a crazy carb craving lunatic! Thankfully the wardrobes are put together with all parts needed and I will not be going back there!

I Love the choices market on KG! If you look in the freezer case they carry Ezekial bread which is whole grain no flour and is fairly low carb. It has about 16 grams a slice but is filling and for me doesn't trigger cravings the way regular wheat or flour products do. The cinnamon raisin is low carb as well and makes yummy toast.

I like doing meat only or vlc but end up wandering up to 30 or 40 grams a day then back to vlc. Right now I am working on portion control using the Paul Mckenna hypnosis cd from the library and I really like it.

oh msmoon, there are many, many, many benefits to living in the boonies. I miss it a lot! That's why I'm going up to the bush next week. Now that I'm a city girl I have to take my breaks and smell tree needles when I can!

The burn is healing up nicely. Thank you. >born clutz over here<

I topped out at 1439 calories. I'm tracking it to see if it regulates on it's own.

I love being in the boonies. When I bought my house it was boonies, there was one other house close by and it was all farmland and very rural. Now it is the land of the living subdivision I hate it. Luckily I have a big property but I want to move further out into Langley or Abbotsford one day.

Where is the cabin? It sound divine.

The cabin is up in Lone Butte (between 70 mile and 100 mile and a bit east). My friend has 80 acres up there, so really, it's just us, the cows and the bears (the occasional grouse fro dindins)

I just moved from Langley to south surrey. Langley sure has grown as has Abby. Even Chiliwack is getting all "citified". The subdivisions go up fast and loud eh?

Well... I was raised in good ol mega city Toronto but spent time up north during my summers as a kid racing around through the bush, roasting wieners over a camp fire, canoeing and doing all things "Canuck" so living here is perfect for me since I get to do all those things whenever I want to. We live on acreage and I love it. If I had,...operative word "had" to move back to a city I'd most likely go to the other extreme and live in a high-rise with a concierge close to the theatre district and art galleries etc. Sigh....yes ladies, I am "Renaissance Woman" or is that "New-ssance Woman",...I have yet to figured that one out yet.
Babett, enjoy your time in the boonies.
Griz, I dare say a suburb would not be too far off your porch in your chosen communities given how the burbs spread so fast. Bugger isn't it!

I know the area well! I used to have a cabin up at Green Lake and my neighbor has a place at Rail Lake. I love the little store at 70 mile. Beautiful country and this time of year it is so pretty! Cool sunny days and crisp cold nights begging for a wood fire and hot chili and a warm blanket.

I know. And I can't afford an acreage anymore in this area. Maybe if I sit on my front porch with a shotgun it will stall the developers?

does ANYTHING stall them? They're like voracious wolverines! Landmines maybe? No one can afford an acreage down here. unless, of course, you happen to have 750,000-1000000000$ at your disposal.

Soon as you get into the interior or more northerly though prices go way down. That's my goal.

Good morning Ladies...just to add to the converastion (in mah own way).. One of the many places I grew up as a child was Whonnock, B.C. Any of you ever been there? What a lovely green place with creeks and trees o'plenty. We had a tire swing in the backyard, which a huge acreage crossing Kannaka Creek. I loved it and do miss country living too.

Just popping in here...I live a few short miles from Whonnock! (East side of Maple Ridge.)

And Babetteq, we took our holidays very near Lone Butte! At Lac Des Roches, we rented a cottage. We have friends who live on Deka Lake.

All this geographic synchonicity...how cool.

My eating this week....not so cool. I'm on edge waiting to hear about a teaching job in Moscow, in November. Like...I need to know NOW, I have to plan for a kennel, etc. etc. I hate last minute stuff! And it's Russia, I need a freaking visa!

That's my excuse, (for continued carb-gorging), back to your regular programming.

WOW! That is a big life-changing experience, going overseas!~ I pass no judgement for your stress-eating. Lawd knows I am SO guilty of it more often than not.

When will you know for sure whether or not you are going?

What an amazing experience!! When would you go? How long would the teaching contract be for? What will you be teaching? What kind of dogs do you have? Do you know of a decent kennel that will take them long-term? or friends that will take them?

Nice to see all the posting!
SherBel, Russia sounds like a wonderful trip in more ways than one. Dress warm,.... channel Dr. Zhivago for apropos clothing. I'm sure they make a lovely fake fur for those dreamy hats and neck warmers not to mention those tall black boots too! Lucky you. Babes has asked all the necessary questions so I won't add more.
Hey, stop eating!!! Ask yourself before you bite in, "do I really need this".....then think some more about that. Don't beat yourself up about it, just do what you need to in order to care of yourself. Channel that stress to a more positive action. Hmm, seams I've got channelling on my mind tonight.
Yep, the Caribou is gorgeous. Thought about living here a few times but I'd miss the ocean lapping at my feet. I've spent time in and around 100 mile and Lac La Hache.....lovely lakes and all round just plain beautiful. I have a good friend who lives in and around where the pine beetle killed off the trees and the pic's she has sent me are gut wrenching. I hope they plant more of a mixed forest in their place.
Griz, did you empty the pool yet? That was a fun thread to read through!

it is. It's truly heartbreaking. However, some poeple (like my friend) are planting beetle resistant breeds of pine and other trees to start filling in the forest on their land. They've been clearing the beetle kill and it will take many, many years for the forest to come back in any appreciable way, but at lest it's a start. Some places on the way up are either black with burn or red with beetle.
