Texas Low Carbers -May 09

Hi, to all you Texans,

We are a Texas Low Carber group, who are planning on being "losers" who provide support, recipes, accountability to each other. Any low carb plan is welcome as we are a mixture of several. Feel free to post, no lectures, but we will give our suggestions if you ask. We try to start a new thread each month.

Welcome~

Welcome to May!

How is every body?

At home studying, thus ends my week off.

Plan on staying on PP plan, exercising today.

I'm off today, so this is a critical time for me. I tend to go off plan when I'm home with all of the food around, or try to experiment with crazy recipes, get frustrated, decide to have a "bite" of something, we all know how the scenario goes. I'm determined, though, to make it the whole month w/o cheating. I'm on a bit of a different plan. No flour, no potato, no sweets, no sugary fruit, basically low-glycemic with portion control. Today I've had lemon water, two poached eggs, a pickle, three olives, basically snacking trying to avoid getting hungry and going off plan. I've lost about 4 pounds this week, don't want to get frustrated next week when the loss slows, which I know it inevitably will. I've done this quite a few times, and want to make a permanent change this time, not just a quick fix. Thinking if I post regularly it will keep me accountable. Well, hope everyone is having a great day and stays on plan for the weekend.

Razberry,
I do so resonate with you about the "eating at home" temptations.
I, too, have been doing this awhile, will lose a few more lbs, then just eat at bite of something, then it all goes downhill, I gain a few and so on.
I like your idea of not cheating this month sounds good. It always starts with "just a taste" for me, then I am in trouble.

Your diet plan sounds great.

I know if I post daily or even more regularily, I can stay on my plan, that goes for exercise, too.

So, maybe I will "see" you frequently on this site. I started this thread last July 08, folks seem to wax and wane, but I am glad to see new folks come and join us.

Have a great day, all.

Hi, y'all,

Have allready exercised today, Callanetics for 45 minutes today, maybe some on the trampoline as it looks like rain here in this area of Texas.

Plan of menu:
shake with whey protein, pimento cheese w/olives on lettuce, tomatoes, hood carb coundown milk for a snack, dinner, grilled something, cauliflower, sf pudding.

What is anybody doing?

Hi. I think I ate too many olives yesterday. Snacked on them throughout the day. Gained two pounds this morning, but bet it was from the sodium. Stayed on plan otherwise. Ate some guacamole sans the tortilla chips, a small piece of chicken, string cheese, almost the entire small bottle of green olives, a BLT w/o the bun. I know I didn't get enough protein in. Cleaned house but didn't exercise. Love your little dog in your pic. I need to put mine in, he's such a cutie. I'll have to get my kids to help me figure out how to do it. Well, this is my weekend to work for the month, so I better run.

Hi, Razberry,

I love olives, too, they tend to make me swell, but it is easily gotten rid of .
I congratulate you on eating guacomole sans the tortilla chips. They are so tempting for me. Some times I cut up strips of low carb flour tortillas, spray with canola oil as I spread them on a single layer in a cookie sheet, bake untill crisp, then eat a few for the tortilla taste.
Thanks for the doggie complement. That is Gwennie, orginally our now grown son's dog left behind when he went off to college. We love her to death.

Chantyl, good for you getting in your workout allready this am. Is snapped a new series? Guess with school I am out of the loop, you will have to fill me in.

Today, I have studied my head off, writting assignments. I am taking a mental health break by doing some fun posting.

I will do my callanetics tonight, I believe in the few days I have been doing them I can see a big difference.

We can do this, lets' hang in there together!

I am terribly sore, but gonna get my shred in after desperate housewives. I've got an early morning tomorrow, so not much chatting for me today.

Hi guys. I had my well woman exam and dr wants me to take the glucose tolerance test again. I don't want to drink that sugar. I'm doing so well. A bit bummed about it. I'm doing well, my carb cravings have vanished. It usually takes about a month for that to come for me, so I'm super excited. I'm not diabetic but have been on Met a long time for PCOS. I just don't want to fall off the wagon.

Hi, and welcome, Eliza Jazz

chantyl, hope you are less sore.

Razberry, if your doc thinks the glucose tolerance test is needed, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. I am so glad your carb cravings are gone so soon.

Last night, an old rather large filling fell out of my tooth, so with a gaping hole, I went into my dentist today. He did a patch job untill I can get into see him. I have to chew on the other side and eat softer foods.
Have allready got my plan into place to stay on Protein Power with no salads.
Maybe some veggies cooked pretty soft.

Well, have a great day all.

Hugs,
Slendercate

txstateriley!

I would be so excited if I was graduating with my MS this December, congrats to you for whatever degree you have earned.

I haven't had one second to post in the last week, working on school takes alot of time with full time work.

I haven't done very well this week as I have "fallen off the wagon" and from my weight on last Thursday, have gained 7 lbs, most probably bloat, but still is is depressing.

Today, family is over, grilling on the grill, other food is on plan is being prepared so I will get back on track.

Have a great Memorial Holliday, every one.

Where is everyone?

Hugs,

Thanks slendercate!

Well, I'm not working on my M.S. *yet* Seriously contemplating whether or not I want to apply to grad school for a M.Ed degree. I'm thinking I might. Gotta take the GRE first though, and right now preparing for my undergrad certification is taking up the majority of my time.

I'm a clinical laboratory science, a.k.a medical technology major. Most places want us to be ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) certified before we can get a job in a hospital doing lab work. So I have to take THAT exam upon graduation first.

Glad to see this thread still going strong! I was in the car buying mode. Think I spent at least 40 hours researching and going over and over on Craigslist, AutoTrader, etc. Finally found what I was looking for. Very happy with my purchase. My eating has been going good. Started losing weigh about 2 months ago - figured it was from the "move". Well lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks. Was starting to get worried - maintaining for over 4 years. Have to make a real effort to make sure I stop and eat. Appetite isnt what it used to be. So believe it or not I am now trying to regain 4 or 5 lbs...Blah blah blah

Eileen,
I can't even imagine not having an appetite or having to gain 4-5 lbs!
I am so envious ! But, I have to ask, why regain the 4-5 lbs? Just stay that weight to have a cushion?

Glad you found a car, what kind is it?

Studying today, I haven't have much time to devote to this thread, but glad it is "somewhat" going.

See y'all later.

Hi Cate. Hoped thread would go away while I was gone! I wouldn't even have thought twice about the weight loss but I've been within a pound or so for over 4 years now and out of the blue I lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm now at 111 and my collarbone is poking out. Just have to make sure I add extra calories via meat and such. I bought an '01 Pathfinder. Have always like those. Had my old truck pretty much sold and changed my mind. My Dad left the truck when he died in 2001. Air conditioning hasnt worked in 4 years but it only has 93,000 miles, was paid for when I got it, hasnt cost me a penny mechanically and is only costing me $31/month for liability insurance. Keeping it to do all my running around in and the new one under the covered parking and clean! Well I hope all is well with you and I'll check back in soon. Have a wonderful weekend...Eileen

Eileen,
No problem, I knew what you meant.
I guess I have been down with my 5lb gain, so it was difficult for me to conceptualize me being at 9 lbs below my goal!

Still studying today, but started walking last night. On plan today, will walk again tonight, so hope to see the scale going down again.

Will talk to you later.
