UK/ Europe July thread

Hola everyone!
I thought I'd get us going this month.

Can you believe it, July already! I have this feeling that June only just started... Oh well, guess my brain is not working the way it should!

Have a good day everyone, will check in later!

I've lost just a hair under 4lbs in June! Which shows I just have to keep on slogging, after losing not even a whole lb in May!

Now I've rejoined the gym, and my goal is to go three times a week and follow my program to the letter, and actually work and push myself to get the benefit from it. Not sure what that will do to the rate of weight loss, but it should certainly help me get smaller! Hopefully it was also allow me to get up the carb ladder too, add some more in. I'm keeping my carbs pretty low at the moment, though still getting in plenty of veggies and a little fruit. I'd like to get moving up the ladder again.

I'm actually going to weigh every day in July and track it on a spreadsheet, to prove to myself how meaningless daily fluctuations actually are and that only the trend is important. Plus, well, I just love tracking stats on spreadsheets! I'm a total nerd that way! I've been tracking my writing word count all this year (total so far 176 thousand words!) just because! Funny, I'm not really a maths nerd - I'm terrible at maths! But I do like tracking progress.

Hey everyone, Happy July.

Weather here is lovely. I have terrible tonsillitis today though! boo It comes and goes but has been getting better over the years. They want me to have them out but I refuse, I know it is not common practice but I get it so often and so badly it was recommended.

Hot here too. Thaks for the info about the chilli man shy.

Sorry you have the tonsillitis Alcmene, I hate being sick when the sun shines. Seems unfair somehow.

Well done on the weight loss JFM, I am impressed.

I am also very pleased that I haven't gained over the past few weeks as I am trying IE/Paul Mckenna. It is quite frightening sometimes allowing myself carbs that I haven't eaten in years. Anyway this month I would love to lose just a couple of pounds. We'll see.

Sorry about the tonsilitis, Alcmene . My husband had it once, and I couldn't believe how ill he was with it. Before that I'd just thought of it as a bad sore throat.

Kissa, it's good to see how well you're doing with the IE. Every time I relax my vigilance my weight starts to creep up again - not immediately, but over a few months or a year there'll be a few pounds, and then it will take me all of the next few months/year to get rid of them again . I'm still working on finding the middle ground! Also, whatever weight I am, I always want to be half a stone less. At the moment, I'd like to be a bit smaller, too, but even when I'm quite happy with the way I look, I still want to see lower numbers on the scale . Luckily I manage to ignore the thought once it gets to that stage - I don't go much below 8 st. I'm currently trying to avoid going over 8 1/2 though.

JFM, I have a variety of spreadsheets that I've used to track my weight over the last few years. I only enter it monthly now, but I have a paper graph in the bathroom cupboard with an x for each day.

I found some really nice "Gold Top" clotted cream in Waitrose this morning. Just the thing with the raspberries and strawberries in season!

I certainly need to be half a stone lighter but I am not expecting that any time soon. It is quite challenging enough to hope for a couple of pounds!

I can identify with that. When I started out, I lost a pound or two a week, but now I'm smaller, a pound a month is as much as I'm likely to see, so allowing for some slow times, half a stone probably represents a year's concentrated effort!

So ladies! When are we going to have a low carb UK meet? Maybe somewhere in the middle of the country? Though I am not adverse to going to London for the weekend as long as I have enough warning so I can get cheap tickets.

OK, marking my spot too with a big red face. No, I haven't been out in the sun too long. I have a confession....

I stalled a bit after having lost half a stone in 3 weeks. Want to know why? Well it's the yummy yoghurt here. I suddenly wondered how much I was eating for brekky. It was 300ml girls!!! At 7.5g per 100ml I have blown it as soon as my day begins. Stupid me.

Well on a positive note I have finished it all, they were big tubs. I will just have to have smaller portions as a treat. If I can.

Anyway, good luck for July. Sorry about your tonsilitis Alcmene, I got that when I was 26 on the stumps of my tonsils. It was so bad, I wonder what full blown tonsilitis would be like. I am a mass of Midge bites, earache and frozen shoulder. But, I'll live.....

Lynne I love 'greek' (Turkish) yoghurt, and have to be careful not to eat too much of it.

Have been helping a friend turn up her new curtains this afternoon, very gentle and pleasant.

Made it to the gym 4th day in a row, another aerobics class but much harder than yesterdays, different instructor!

Friends coming over for a drink in a few moments, olives, humous, and guacamole on the table!

Well...I am getting ready for the 4th of July. I went and got steaks today. They look lush...one looks a lot fatter than the other but they are both inch cut ribeyes. YUMMMMYYY....I think the Goat Farmer is coming. I am going to watch Fireworks tonight and of course again to tomorrow (4th of July) and then again on Saturday. I love this time of year. My house still needs the floors to be swept and mopped and I have to do my bedroom. It will all be done in time.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Just so you know, here in the south we like ICED SWEET TEA. The colder and the sweeter the better. So I have to be losing it to be sitting on the front porch in the heat drinking HOT tea.

Hey everyone, it is raining here today! Been back to the dentist for ANOTHER £280 bill eeeeek

It si true about hot drinks, when I went to China it was really hot, yet all the locals were drinking hot green tea like it was going out of fashion.

Yeah tomorrow is our independence from you Brits. However, I can think of a few good things that ya'll do now that we need to learn about.
Top of the list is proper tea
Shortbread
More fun flavors of Crisps
Ohh the relaxed attitude about taking a holiday
Pimms in the summer
Importance of a good pint with no head
How to play proper football

I don't think my parents would take to tea with vanilla and caramel . Milk is obligatory, sugar optional. No other additions are considered . I'm heretical, and drink mine without the milk. I even drink strange alien things like green tea. They'll be taking my passport off me soon!

Happy 4th July Cosmic, enjoy!

Me, tea only once a day, at tea time, decaf with skimmed milk and a Splenda! My mother would not have approved. I have been drinking *$s iced decaf lattes in the hot weather.

Started wet here but turned out fine this afternoon.

IE is going well, down pound this week. Today I have eaten 1 apple, 1 Jaffa cake, 1 Cafe Noir biscuit, 3 GG crackers with humous, guacamole and lots of black olives. Not forgetting the red wine. Doh?

Me love tea. Turks love tea too. So, I am well at home here. HATE their Turkish coffee though. Thank goodness we have a Gaggia and can make our own coffee as a delish treat.

You are really from outer space aren't you??

I didn't drink tea for the first 3 years I was there. Then I started and it was bad. They would cut me off because I normally have no caffine. HeeHee They being the people I worked with could always tell when I had tea because I would never shut up.
