How's the weather where you all are? I think we're about the only place in the country with sunshine today. Of course, it will probably be tipping down in about a half an hour.

Gym day today! Roll on 4pm. My workout and the next chapter of the audiobook I'm listening to. Heh, that's a great motivator to not talk myself out of going to the gym, if I decide I can only listen to a chapter while I'm exercising.

OK checking in....rain here. It has rained since Saturday and it makes me think of England. I miss summer there. HeeHee I really do miss it a lot.

So....food is on track, exercise is getting there.

4th of July weekend was a bust. He had to put up some lumber that he had someone come and saw. I understood but I really didn't want to understand. So....ohh well. I got a flat on the 4th coming back from Fireworks. Thank goodness my best friend and I were there because my men I called had no clue. It was my Dad, Brother and his two best guy friends. Needless to say the women were tell them how to do it when they finally thought it might be a good idea to listen.

So how is everyone?

It was lovely here most of yesterday, despite everyone else in the UK getting washed away. But it's gloomy and raining on and off today. Clearly the good weather yeaterday was an oversight.

I up...but not awake yet. I keep waking up really tired. Not sure what is going on with that. Once I get going I have a lot of energy. It is raining here too. Ohh well...no worries. Tomorrow I am helping run a Golf tournment. I was supposed to be the Beer girl but then my brother threw a fit so now I am the hole in one girl. That sounds bit dirty doesn't it?

It does indeed sound dirty. What does the hole in one girl do then?

If you get a hole in one then you get the big prize. I am just there to be the honest person. HeeHee....which really makes me giggle. They are giving away one of those 4 wheel drive thingys that look like a golf cart. We have a John Deer Gator on the farm that has a bed that raises and lowers. So it is like that but a different brand and I can't remember the name.

Hi! I hope you're enjoying your stay.

You'll be lucky to find much in the way of low carb products here, I'm afraid. For bars and shakes, well in the supermarket - and it will have to be one of the big stores - check in the pharmacy section under weightloss products. That's where I still see them sometimes in Tesco stores anyway. Also try Boots or Superdrug, big pharmacy stores. Again in the weightloss products section. They'll have "Diabetic Chocolate" and sweets at least. I believe Thorntons, the chocolate shop sells sugar free chocolate too.

I don't know if I've ever even seen low-carb bread here. Maybe check out in the supermarket any ranges of "free from gluten" "free from wheat" etc to see if there's anything there. You'll find things like that in health food stores too, like Holland and Barrett.

Slenda is available in supermarkets, but you won't find many sugar free things flavoured with Splenda rather than asparteme, if you prefer to avoid that. I don't think stevia is available here at all, but check health food shops for that.

DaVinci's syrups, well unless anyone else has seen them retail, I've only seen them in cafes etc, so may only be available to the catering trade.

Basically, we Brits eat clean with few products, because we don't have a lot of choice in the matter!

While you're here, and in the supermarket, go check out the cream section. Our cream is way better than in the US! Double cream, even richer than heavy cream. Clotted cream, so thick you can spread it with a knife! Enjoy.

Hey I think we are LUCKY not to have all that fake rubbish food, because in some ways it makes us healthier.

However, OMG the clotted cream is to die for.

I agree with both of those points. I did use the Atkins and Boots low carb chocolate bars my first time around though, and they gave me no problems. But that was it for the products for me. I think they don't encourage the kind of changes in habits I need to make this work. But everyone is different, so it doesn't bother me if someone wants to use them. Good luck to 'em.

Hello Vicky, glad the food is good there. Even doing Paul Mckenna I am learning that LC just suits me best, If I have a day with too much cab I go all sleepy the next day.

Sun is shining here at present but pavements still damp!

Well it is a beautiful morning. I am getting ready to get ready and leave. They HOLE IN ONE girl is now an official and I will register everyone too. So that is cool. I get my own golf cart. I hope ya'll have a good day. First time in over a week I didn't wake to rain. I was starting to have flash backs. I will let you all know it goes. It is all for Charity for a Girls Ranch. It is a really good cause and I am glad to be part of this event.

Hey everyone.. sorry to bother you again.I was just wondering if any of you had a good homeade recipe for cherry bakewell tarts(i believe that's correct) They look like little mini pies, they come like 6 to a box. I'm sure there is a way to make them low carb.I found a few recipes on the internet for cake like bakewell's but not like the ones in the store. I've never had these before recently, and i LOVE them. Thanks

This is what I did today. I thought ya'll might like to know how it went and what the Girls Ranch is and who it helps.

So this is the blurp I put out on my Myspace....
Today we did a test run to see how a golf scramble with ALL proceeds going to the Whitley Co. Girls Ranch would benefit the girls. The golf scramble raised $2500 which is a very good start. We hope to now have another charity golf scramble October 17th, 2008. If this is a success then the goal is to host one each year in the fall.

The Girls Ranch is a non-profit organization. It is a safe environment where girls with high academic potential can find support and guidance. The Girls Ranch not only takes in girls from Whitley Co. but also from the surrounding Appalachian area.

Its mission is to provide a safe and stable environment for the girls, ages 7- 17. The girls live at the Ranch and are helped to develop self esteem, become self sufficient, empowered to realize their potential and assisted in reaching post-secondary education.

If you would like more information about the golf scramble or to play p
