We used to go to Oulton Park when I was a child. The main thing I remember is that it was incredibly noisy. But that was about forty years ago . How did that happen? I hope you have fun .

Stop that about Neil Diamond!!!!!

I love him and I remember his very first hits and I know I am nearly 61 but I refuse to be old! Well not where music is concerned. (OK, so I am older than some of your parents.)

Bit sad tonight, my other DD's (with Downs) MIL died this evening. She would have been 100 on 18th June. She was in great shape until a stroke 3 weeks ago after which she lost the ability to walk and was incontinent, though still as sharp as anything. It is a blessing really but hard for my SIL who though 61 is going on 16 mentally. Thank goodness he has my DD, they are such a support to each other.

I go back to London tomorrow and will be with them on Sunday and to help next week.

Have a great weekend one and all.

Thanks Lou, to make it to 12 days short of your 100th isn't bad is it?

Safely back in London now. Really easy drive.

Yes, she was a remarkable woman, I wish I had known her better.

They are both coming into London to visit us tomorrow instead of us going to Southend. They will catch the train and we are taking them to the Oxo Gallery where there is an exhibition on behalf of the Down's Syndrome Association and a photo of them is being featured.

I knew the exhiition had started earlier in the week but hadn't realised that tomorrow is the last day. So I phoned them this evening and they will come to us which I think will be good as it will be a change of scene for them too.

Last year their wedding was featured in the same exhibition with lot of photos, some of you may remember that I posted a link. One of those photos was used on the front cover of the Down's Association's Annual Review 2006/07, which I have just been sent. It does make me so very proud of them.

Thanks for your kind wishes everyone.

Hi Mum

How very sad - although as you say - perhaps a blessing - she would not have liked to be dependent on other people.

Assuming when you have time that you will email details - so that Steve and I can do something - not sure what though!

Give them our love.

Hugs and kisses

My Dad died when he was 84. He had COPD and each breath was a struggle. Then he became incontinent. He died from pneumonia. I felt very sad that he's gone, still do. I missed my Dad, but the Dad that was around in those last few months wasn't MY Dad (if you understand me). I was happy he'd left this life. There was no point in him struggling on any more.

Best wishes to you all. X

death is always sad but sometimes a release too as we don't want our loved ones to suffer.

Thanks everyone for your lovely thoughts.

We had an absolutely wonderful day. The exhibition was great, as we walked along the South Bank we kept seeing posters about the show featuring their photo. At the show people wanted photos taken with them in front of their photograph.

Then we had lunch outside looking at the Thames. A walk along the South Bank to Westminster Pier past all the mime artists and musicians, then a trip back along the river on the Thames Clipper and finally sent them back to Southend glowing with happiness in spite of his mother's death. Tonight they were off to a friends party!

Vicky, I think a letter to Martin is all that is required. He would like that.
